The rooftop teppenyaki was superb. Concierge is helpful. In dining food os good.
Location is a bit off. But ebisu is a good neighbourhood. Breakfast is poor, slow, hectic. Lobby bar service slow. The staff in general is unsmiling and unaccommodating. The rates are very high vs the service you get. Plus the beds are soft uncomfortable.
Big rooms, very clean and helpful staff
Area is not great, kind of bland decor(could be anywhere in the US/europe no Japanese influences). We also had a very bad experience in the Cantonese restaurant so definitely avoid that
I chose the Westin Tokyo because I wanted to experience the Ebisu neighborhood. Ebisu sounded authentic, relaxed, and removed from the tourist hordes. Interestingly, I found Ebisu to be lovely, but filled with expats and somewhat generic.
The Westin is the best hotel in the area, but it is old and in need of a makeover in the near future. This is a large hotel, with tour groups and kids filling up the eclectic lobby. Our room was large and had a great view, but the furnishings were aging, and the bathroom was small and uncomfortable. Everything was spotless, though, and if the Westin is priced well, it's not a bad choice compared to other hotels with tiny rooms. My spouse and I stayed at the Capitol Tokyo on our first leg of this journey, and the Capitol Hotel would spoil the most jaded.
Although the Westin is an old-fashioned hostelery, it is akin to a grande dame who might be fading, but still has a bit of panache.
