I come into town several times a year to visit my kids and grandkids. It is one of my granddaughters favorite things to do when I come into town, staying at the Radisson. They know their way around and it really brings back great memories while creating new ones. They always remember the funny staff that interact with them and make them feel like they are a big deal while we stay. This time, exact opposite. I know the quality of the hotel so I won’t spend time pointing out the lacking qualities. I did get a suite this stay which does help make it feel a bit nicer. A lot has changed. They divided the hotel where half is now for extended stay and the half I stayed in is the short term. I am not judgmental but it’s a fact that extended stay hotels are a different environment and along with that comes activity and people that people might like to avoid. All that aside, nothing was getting in the way of a great weekend with my favorite people, until… I took the girls to the pool early because it tends to get a bit rowdy later in the day. I was getting the girls in the pool, all had floaters and the baby was in a float that is rated one of the safest available. My oldest granddaughter is 9, that makes a difference because I hopped out of the pool literally within 3 feet of the girls to grab a towel to set on the side in case the baby got splashed. I got immediately back in. We were in 3 feet of water and my 9 year old granddaughter stood with the baby in her float while I hopped out. Some guy comes to the rail on a floor above us and screaming at me. Not yelling, screaming, to the point I didn’t understand what he was saying. I am looking around because I knew he wasn’t screaming at me because we were very respectful the entire time we had been there. Nope, it was me. There was a couple and 2 kids there as well. Not sure if it was hard to understand his English or if it was hard to understand his screaming but he kept telling me that is a baby. Finally I said to him I was well aware, she is my granddaughter, not entertaining his behavior. About 15 mins later he comes to the same rail and absolutely loses his sh-t on me. I just kept telling him I was sorry I don’t understand what the problem is. I had all the girls within my reach, my hand was literally on the baby float. I am not kidding, I was clueless. The only thing I could make out in what he was screaming was him telling me to take care of the baby. WHAT???? I’m a very attentive grandparent. This trip is about my grandkids and I make sure they all get my undivided attention the entire time. I was taking videos of all of the girls so I could remember the moments. The couple that was there finally spoke up because his behavior was insane. They were just as confused as I was but the gentleman at the pool asked him to stop yelling and was asking his wife what this guys deal is because he was so out of line. They packed up and left the pool. I wanted to let loose on this guy because HOW DARE HE????? Of all the bull going on at that place and of all the people, he chose me and in front of my 4 granddaughters?? I am of sound mind and had to tell myself what was important, my girls. It could have gone from bad to ugly real quick and I was not going to match a fools energy only to become a fool myself. He kept throwing his arms as if he was kicking us out of the pool so I asked if he wanted us to leave, because I’m still confused, and still am as I sit here. He said no but blah blah cops blah blah camera, blah blah on my phone not paying attention to the baby. Now I get what he is saying. I have not used my phone other than my camera while with my girls because to me that is important and how I make them feel important but the fact I never let the girls, especially the baby out of my reach. So, first let me say I would never neglect my granddaughters in any way. You would not convince anyone that knows me otherwise because these girls make my world go round. I went to the front desk after we finished our swim, again I didn’t let the man that scared the life out of my grandkids ruin our plans. I kindly stated I was the party that was berated earlier and politely asked his position. The front desk told me he was the GM and said maybe he gets this way because he doesn’t have kids and is protective over the kids in the pool. If that is the case, the boys that came to the pool later, running laps around chasing and about drowning each other was fine with him. A GM of a hotel, hmmmm. I would think a GM with any respectable qualities would be interacting with guests, asking how their stay was, finding out areas of improvement, how helpful was his staff, etc, the things in my opinion a good GM does. Not this man, his guest interactions consist of the abusive and disrespect behavior I was subjected to. He had no problem acting like a complete lunatic in front of kids which scared them and made them feel unsafe. Not all kids are subjected to chaos and abusive behavior, so when they see something of that nature it really does have an effect on them. He should be ashamed of his behavior but He isn’t. I received no apology and he obviously has no remorse for the scene he caused or more importantly questioning my ability to care for my dearest treasures on this planet!!!! After my oldest son who is the dad of the baby this man spoke of, heard the story he offered to kick some donkey and make sure he knew just how wrong he was, but I raised smart kids. My son has too much to lose for a loser. My oldest granddaughter was upset and wanted to let him know what she thought of him but I reminded her of what’s important and it wasn’t him. He had the authority to kick us out and who would win then. It was a great opportunity to explain how you never argue with a fool because from a distance you can’t tell who is who and with that being said, this will be my last visit ever to this hotel. I am previously from here and have stayed at some of the best hotels Louisville has to offer so next time I will treat my girls to a place that treats them like royalty and appreciates their presence. I don’t mind paying for quality and concierge services. I have learned my lesson giving an ok at best hotel, the benefit of the doubt. If you are prepared for an alright place for a decent price without any hope of exceptional service, this is your place but just know you deserve better just as my grandkids and I did today!!!!
Anniversary Ruined My wife and I stayed at Radisson North louisville celebrating our 34 wedding anniversary. We went out to dinner when we got back there was water all over the air conditioner. I called the front desk they sent the maintenance man up he wiped up the water and placed a towel on the air conditioner. Said there is nothing he could do about it. I felt water dripping on me when I pulled back the drapes .The water was coming in around the windows then I saw cracks in the wall and black mold all over.I asked for a refund was told no .Tried calling to talk to the manager 5 times every time I was told he just stepped out. I took pictures and forwarded them to Clark County health department tired of being treated like this .
Don't let the reviews deter you from this place. Our room was very clean and the staff was helpful and approachable. The overall quality of the hotel was great and it was a very affordable stay. We didn't use the pool but it looked clean. We would stay here again!
Location, indoor pool
The staff was not available or friendly, they were rude, except for the restaurant staff was friendly and helpful.
Comfortable, nice pool, friendly staff.
Several doors to the outside had key card locks that did not work. Carpets are dated, bathroom are small.
Rooms were clean and comfortable, but could use updated. Staff was friendly and attentive for the most part, but they are definitely understaffed. Had to wait to check in, waited over an hour in the bar to get a small pizza, only one person I guess to run bar and take and bring out food orders. Nice view of lake from inside bar patio.
Hotel needs a refresh, far behind their competitors, inexpensive and feels like it, just proves you get what you pay for, don't waste your money or time on this hotel.
