Nothing
Lovely hotel just a short distance from the centre of town.
We had a nice quiet room with everything we needed.
Dog very happy too!
Brilliant dinner and breakfast.
Hosts very welcoming
Hemos repetido por nuestra luna de miel , ya que el ambiente , el trato y el cariño de los que gestionan el hotel es digno dr admirar .
Visited a Pie and Whisky tasting event as part of the Spey Side Whisky festival 2026. Drawn from an extensive list of whisky from across the region and beyond, the experience included 5 drams of your choice. Included was a pie of which there was a choice of 3, all made to order and served with mashed potato and sessional veg. WOW. The pie, large and amply filled with locally source ingredients was outstanding and star of the show. Excellent hosts and very enjoyable experience. In the future, this event would be my number one booking priority.
Location was very good, two minutes walk from town centre
The first room that we were given was awful, small, dark and dinghy, tiny shower room, one seat in a dark corner and an awful musty small. After complaining, we were given the room advertised in booking.com. This still had a small to it, beds were of low quality but much better than the first room.
Having to complete a form, detailing our breakfast request was something that I have not seen for many years. No food/drinks are available for self access so required requests for everything, e.g. top-up of fruit juice, change of yoghurt flavour initially given, furthe toast, etc, etc.
The standard of the dinner and breakfast was superb. Comfortable hotel with friendly and engaging owners. Lovely bar which you don’t want to leave.
Nothing not to like
Three adults in a family room. The room was quite large. Comfortable. Restaurant downstairs had a good selection and food was OK. Breakfast was included and was a very good selection.
Three Norwegian guys on Speyside Whisky trail tour spent two nights at The Speyside hotel. The rooms and atmosphere were great. Eating, drinking and service was fantastic. This hotel and The Ghillie Bar & Restaurant is highly recommended.
Mark & Lucy are wonderful hosts - Lucy is an amazing chef and Mark is full of information about the local area as well as tipping us off about visiting the most gorgeous Highland Coos! The hotel has a lovely atmosphere, gorgeous food, an impressive whisky collection and is a fantastic location for exploring the Cairngorms. Highly recommended.
Having to leave!
My wife and I have just enjoyed a 2 night break staying at the Speyside Hotel. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The hotel was well appointed and the atmosphere within was relaxed and friendly. The food was excellent as were the hosts Mark and Lucy. We hope to return and are very happy to recommend the Speyside Hotel to anybody looking for a great place to stay in Grantown.
Just back from a few days staying at the Speyside Hotel in Grantown on Spey. The owners , Mark and Lucy are first class hosts and Lucy’s cooking using local produce is exceptional!!
From breakfast in the morning till dinner in the evening, it’s all delicious!
The Ghillie Bar is lovely to sit before dinner with a glass of wine, beer , dram or soft drink from their well stocked bar and then into the warm and welcoming dining room with its lovely decor and amazing new wall decoration of a huge salmon!
Discovering the local area is easy from the hotel and then back to chill in the evening in the small beer garden or bar.
We spent two nights at the hotel and was the best experience we’ve had in a long time. Friday night was a themed dinner showcasing the best food that the region had to offer. Breakfast was delicious and dinner on Saturday served the best venison pie. Hotel rooms clean and comfortable. Mark and Lucy the perfect hosts - we will be back. 🙏
Really great location to explore the Cairngorms. Awesome included breakfast. Excellent evening restaurant with modern scottish cuisine. The haggis was to die for.
A real gem of a highland country hotel.
My wife and I have travelled extensively over the years both internationally and in the UK. We felt that the Speyside Hotel needed a shout out.
Great location, brilliant service, ample free parking available at the hotel and a short walk from the centre of the lovely little town of Grantown on Spey. My wife and I had a week’s stay with our dog in a classic suite, which was spotlessly clean, great comfortable bed, spacious very well appointed room with great en suite facilities. We were on a bed and breakfast basis. The breakfast is exceptional, freshly cooked that morning. Simply choose what you’d like and what time you’d like to eat and complete your breakfast form the night before. The breakfast is great but please use the restaurant for dinner, Lucy, the chef produces an absolutely great menu, delicious 👌🏻we ended up dining there for four of our nights and would have dined on more had we been able to get a reservation. Then there’s the “Ghillie bar” well stocked with everything you want (great choice of single malts if you’re interested). Mark does an amazing job ensuring the bar is comfortable and welcoming.
Without doubt the most fantastic aspect of this hotel are Mark and Lucy - the owners. They are fantastic people and hosts, very welcoming. Lucy is a great chef, really cares that you’ve had an enjoyable dining experience. Mark is so knowledgeable about the area, where to visit and things to do. They are absolutely committed to ensuring you have a great stay. In fact my wife has booked a five day stay for her and her sister in July this year. We will definitely be returning. Just book it you won’t find better 👍🏻
These days I only write Tripadvisor reviews for exceptional (good or bad!) experiences. Our stay at the Speyside Hotel was a real highlight of our extensive trip around Scotland and totally deserves a top review.
The hotel is very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The hosts, Mark and Lucy, are very friendly and helpful and they ensure a truly enjoyable stay. The breakfast menu is extensive and the food is freshly prepared from local ingredients wherever possible. My wife said the porridge was the best she had ever tasted! As for the evening meal… I found Lucy’s venison pie absolutely delicious and my wife thoroughly enjoyed the mushroom pie. Our only regret was that we didn’t have room for a pud!
Our king size room was spacious, very comfortable and the bathroom was excellent.
All in all, a terrific experience and we would love to stay again.
The owners were really welcoming and the food was excellent
Le lieu, le bar, l'accueil, c'était très très bien
Rien
We decided to revisit Grantown on Spey to celebrate our wedding anniversary as this lovely Spey Valley town holds good memories for us as a young couple many years ago . We were fortunate in that our anniversary coincided with a glorious spell of sunny but cold weather and also very fortunate with our choice of hotel.
The Speyside Hotel is located in a quiet location, one street back from the Main Street . We received a warm welcome from Lucy and Mark, the owners .
We had chosen a king size room which did not disappoint being well furnished with a very comfy bed , a good size en-suite with shower and excellent quality toiletries.
We had booked for three nights but were so enjoying our stay that we stayed on for an extra day. The food was excellent particularly the dinners cooked by Lucy. Highlights included the salmon, venison pie and the blade of Baillefurth steak, all well prepared and presented. The restaurant was obviously popular with the locals , a number of whom dined during our stay.
The Ghillie Bar adjacent to but separate from the restaurant provides an excellent venue for an aperitif with a good range of wines and malt whiskies at affordable prices. Mark is a bit of a whisky expert and provides good advice.
