Before traveling to China, we learned that Atour is one of the largest hotel chains in Shanghai, so we expected professional service. However, our stay at Atour S Hotel Lujiazui Oriental exceeded every expectation and became the highlight of our trip.

The hotel is exceptionally clean, modern, and comfortable. The room was spacious, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and even the towels were individually sealed, showing great attention to hygiene. Breakfast offered a wide variety of delicious food, and I especially loved the cappuccino. Every evening, the hotel provided complimentary congee and snacks, which was a thoughtful surprise after a long day of exploring the city. Guests can also enjoy unlimited complimentary drinks throughout the day and free laundry service, making the stay even more convenient.

However, what truly made our experience unforgettable was Mr. Chu Yi.

Because we do not speak Chinese, traveling around Shanghai was not easy. Chu Yi went far beyond his responsibilities to help us. He patiently recommended places to visit, explained transportation, booked taxis for us, and always checked whether we needed any assistance. His kindness and dedication made us feel safe and cared for throughout our stay.

When our room had a cigarette smell, he resolved the issue immediately by arranging another room and upgrading us. He also personally brought us a fruit platter and a thoughtful gift bag with foot-soaking packs, room fragrance, hand cream, eye masks, and other small gifts together with a sincere apology. We were deeply touched by his professionalism and genuine care.

Knowing that we wanted to buy souvenirs before leaving China, Chu Yi recommended the best places and even prepared White Rabbit candies and several lovely gifts for us. Before we left for the airport, he helped us book a taxi to the metro station and continued checking on us to make sure we would not get lost, as it was our first time using the Shanghai Metro.

I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. Its well‑designed classical courtyard is the major highlight. Beautiful garden scenery keeps the whole place quiet and private for great rest. Morning breakfast is well‑prepared with plenty of delicious choices. Every member of the staff is polite and attentive, offering caring service in every detail. Comfortable surroundings plus excellent service make this an ideal place for leisure trips. I will come back again in the future.

Its outstanding courtyard architecture is the biggest highlight—classic layout, elegant roof designs and harmoniously arranged green plants and stone scenery make the whole yard look like a meticulously painted landscape. The environment inside is impressively quiet; even during peak travel hours, the courtyard never feels noisy, offering a calm space to relax after sightseeing. I loved taking breakfast in the garden-view dining room every morning, surrounded by green plants and peaceful courtyard views. The breakfast buffet has countless options, including authentic regional snacks, fresh pastries, seasonal fruits, warm porridge and coffee, with consistent high quality across all dishes. The hotel staff provide thoughtful, personalized service: they helped store luggage, recommended lesser-known local attractions and cleaned rooms thoroughly every day with small welcoming treats. Walking through the courtyard’s winding paths at sunset was incredibly therapeutic, thanks to the well-preserved architecture and tranquil atmosphere. This hotel balances beauty, quietness, tasty food and caring service flawlessly. I strongly recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing, aesthetically pleasing stay.
