Version 1 Residence Inn
Pros:

At the time, we thought the location was too far from downtown central but it was not. It seemed to serve the medical center very near by, due to the guests that were in scrubs. So the vibe was very relaxed. All of the units appear to be outdoor entry, more like a motel, 2 floors with stairs for upper. It is under new management as of our visit and they are in process of renovating the dated rooms. The front desk was very friendly and helpful. They have a cool ID-Buzz Volkswagen shuttle bus. the room was very large with a wood burning fireplace I didn't try. Second floor with balcony with French doors. There's a garden, and outdoor pool which wasn't open yet. People were using the hot tub but I didn't. Bed was nice with a Pendleton blanket, heat worked fine (SF is at 7000ft elevation,) slept great.
Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of carnivorous choices, and the manager walked around and we had a long pleasant chat. Even though everything at the property was a bit dated, it actually had the vibe of the Santa Fe we remembered in the 90's, which is good. We'd go back. Based on the reviews, and our good experience at this property, we're glad we didn't go to the Posada as an alternative.

Great stay in a newly renovated room
Pros:

I was very happy with our 1 night stay at the hotel in May 2026. Check-in was fast and friendly and they gave us a map showing exactly where to park and enter the room. We were in #321 which was on the 2nd floor so you did have to carry your luggage up 2 sets of stairs (with a landing in the middle). The front desk even called 15 minutes later to make sure everything looked good in the room. I haven't seen that since pre-COVID days!!

The room itself was very large, about the size of my apartment. There was a living room upon entry with a couch (that turned into a bed), a chair, and a kitchen. There was also a bedroom (with doors that closed) with a king bed and en-suite bathroom. Off the kitchen were stairs that went to the 2nd floor with another bed (looked to be king size but maybe queen) and another bathroom. The bed upstairs was a loft so opened to the living room/kitchen.

Breakfast the next morning was great, they even had gluten-free bagels so my wife could have them. There is a menu on the board and the hot breakfast food is different every day along with breads, cereals, and the waffle maker.

Upon checkout they told us we had been in a newly renovated room. Everything was very nice and I would definitely stay here again. I'm not sure how the older rooms are, but the renovated room was excellent. The only 2 drawbacks were that the clock in the bedroom was very bright with no brightness control but easily fixed with a washcloth on top of the clock and stairs could be potential issue, but you could ask for 1st floor or help moving bags.

I would definitely recommend staying here.

Do not be misled by high ratings—this hotel is in total disrepair.
Pros:

I wanted to warn others: do not believe the positive reviews here. While I want to acknowledge the front desk and breakfast staff—who are incredibly pleasant and hardworking—the actual condition of this hotel is a disgrace to the Marriott name.
The room was filthy and run-down. There were hard, dark spots ground into the rugs, and the couch arms were so stained I wouldn’t even sit on them. The kitchen sink had a ring of mildew around the soap dispenser (which didn't work), and the tub drain was rusted. It’s the kind of place where you don’t dare take your shoes off. Even the courtyard and grounds were poorly maintained. Management and Marriott Inc. should be ashamed of letting this property fall into such despair.

Comfy and clean with delicious breakfast.
Pros:

Perfect stay for me as a solo traveler. Suite was comfy and quiet and with full kitchen and nearby Trader Joes I was able to cook my dinners "at home". Breakfast was amazing with a lot of choices and different daily options. Very easy to travel to downtown Santa Fe, Los Alamos and other great road trips with a good coming home feeling each day. Carmela at the front was superb and all the staff was friendly and caring. Onsite laundry was easy to use. The value for what you get is excellent and I would stay again.

Poor customer service, lacking accommodations
Pros:

The rooms are incredibly dated and poorly lit, but that really would have been fine. What wasn’t great is when on my last night I had a terrible migraine and was throwing up and sick to my stomach. My friend, who has titanium status (we booked on her account) called to see if we could get a late checkout, titanium is supposed to get guaranteed 4pm check out. Despite being violently ill and having status, they said they could only do one hour later check out and no concern otherwise. What’s the point?

Always a pleasure.
Pros:

Very convenient and friendly staff.

Cons:

A tiny bit of snow overnight caused a snowplow to start work at 5 in the morning keeping everyone in room awake. Went on for an hour outside room 715. Don’t know why it went on so long with just a tiny amount of snow.

Pros:

We didn't like our stay.

Cons:

I can't comment on the Residence Inn as our room was given to someone else and we were moved to a different inferior hotel that was loud and not pleasant. I will not use this hotel or Booking.com again.
