Booked a night stay in room 1230 with the whirlpool tub for our 20th anniversary. The building needs some upkeep. I know it is a historic building, but to have paint on the ceiling missing big spots in the bar area, nasty air vents. The cleanliness was not up to standards that i thought a hilton would keep. The bar was over staffed but service was still very slow. Took 10 minutes to get 2 drinks. The waitress would disappear for long periods of time. Several guest had to clear tables off so they could set there drinks down. Our room had dust on the walls, windows were dirty to the point of not being able to see outside. The whirlpool looked like it hadn't been maintained in years. Alarm clock was broken and did not have a receptacle to plug it in. The sheet on the bed had a whole in it big enough that i could put my finger through it. Everybody was very friendly but the stay was not what i would consider hilton quality. Will not book here again.
Historical place with a French art nouveau style. A bit melancholic and dark in decor. You won’t be welcomed with bright large spaces and high ceilings you usually find in most modern hotels; instead, the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza preserved the structure of the original building along with dimly lit, low-ceiling areas which might feel a bit claustrophobic to some. Politicians and performers used to frequent this hotel back in the day including Bing Crosby, Elvis, JFK, Nixon, Walt Disney and Doris Day among others. Overall service at the front desk, housekeeping and maintenance was great upon check in. Shoutout to “LePaul” (sp?) the bellman - very kind and willing to help in any way. He has a work ethic, humility and morale not commonly seen nowadays.
As a Hilton Gold member we were given credit to use daily. Note: the day you check in, if you don’t use the dining credit it expires that very night. You won’t be able to use it for the next morning’s breakfast. The restaurant that you can use the dining credit does not offer room service and you must dine in at the “1931” restaurant or bar otherwise you’ll get slapped with at auto 15% service for take out.
As for the bedroom - spacious living space but dated. The carpet smelled moldy and the bathroom was so small. The tub floor is squishy and is bubbling. The wallpaper in the bathroom and bedroom are also bubbling in many places. The toilet flush is the kind you see in public rest stops where you need to step on with your foot. The vanity mirror lights do not function and the reading lights for the beds are only for decor and no longer function. The maintenance man confirmed that. Our bathroom was missing a lightbulb but the front desk communicated promptly
with the kind service staff who are all responsive and friendly.
Overall - maybe not impressive but alright.
We have not arrived yet for our visit but have had to call to confirm details a few times and Tanisha at the front desk has been very kind and helpful. Looking forward to the stay.
This hotel is gorgeous. I didn't get to utilize it all but the atmosphere was amazing. Staff was awesome and helpful.
The water pressure wasn't great. I will say that room decor didn't really astound like the rest of the building, but that was pretty mild issue
Went there for the holiday buffet at 1931. Don't look up! If you do you will see massive chunks of paint (and maybe plaster) peeling off the ceiling and just waiting to land on your head or in your food. This hotel is or has been in receivership and there is clearly no money available to maintain this important, historic building. A very sad situation.
This hotel has been a classic magical place to stay over the years and for anyone who loves classic art deco ambiance and timeless architecture in general it was a don’t miss if you are in Cincinnati. My husband and I have stayed here for many occasions over the years.
We decided to stay for 5 days to celebrate New Years. We had also stayed earlier in the year.
The food and the staff were perfect as always but there is a stark change which after doing some research is financial I believe fundamentally. The Crew Tower is being renovated and the hotel is rather running without leadership or direction. The old loyal guard who have worked there for many years are clearly frustrated as the constant refrain about problems and issues the came up during the visit for us was a resounding refrain of Management doesn’t give a *care* (sic). No room service but nobody communicates and so the front desk doesn’t know that there wasn’t enough staff for 3 days. Magnificent NYE meal with 90 covers at set times with several courses. There were exactly 2! Waiters for the entire room and they were literally running to try to meet service well.
TV dead and couldn’t be fixed and we had planned to watch one of the college play offs with another couple and food delivered. That didn’t happen.
No one in management answered my questions and did not respond. Kicked it up to Corporate to get a response and they didn’t answer either.
The issue for me is that this magnificent place may be just simply let go.
This was a special experience we saved for and first world problems but the experience said the place is at best in limbo. I would have appreciated a response from management at some level. We spent a lot of money relative to our old fixed income
The staff to a person deserve kudos for their extra effort and dedication.
My last question to corporate was Does anybody care?
We loved the location. The bar was fantastic and the staff was great. We also loved being so close to so much. We walked primarily.
Sad to see such a beautiful location with so many empty storefronts.
I enjoyed the ambience of the hotel lobby and the connivence of the hotel’s location in downtown Cincinnati.
For the price I paid, I don’t believe it was worth it - even for the location convenience of it. The staff was not able to answer my questions about how valet parking would be handled (I have never stayed at a hotel that valet wasn’t right when you pulled up and since the door manager took my key, I assumed we were fine). The walls throughout the hallways and in our room were chipping paint. It was also clear that our room was not adequately cleaned and turned over by the hair on the bathroom door, no conditioner and sheets that smelled odd. Finally, we decided we wanted a simple morning and called to order room service at 2 separate times (once about 30 minutes after the availability started and again about 45 minutes later) to find out it wasn’t available due to the room service attendant not being at work.. I find it difficult to understand how there was only once attendant for a 29 floor hotel. Overall, my next stay in the Cincinnati area will be at a location I know the staff is knowledgeable and attentive and that you really get what you pay for in your stay & accommodations
Other thing I like about the hotel was the location and ordering breakfast from the menu.
Bathroom toliet was filthy you had to flush toliet twice for paper or again else to go down. Spot on the carpet and chair, fridge did not get your water bottle cold, ice machine on the 29th floor did not work, coming out of your room was liked you was walking in a furnace air conditioner did not work on that floor in the hallway and last checking out they could not print me a bill so they claim they emailed which I haven’t gotten it.
Location was great for spending time in downtown Cincinnati.
Size of the room was smaller than my own kitchen.
Hiç bir şey beğenmedim zaten inşaat halindeydi girişinde inşaat iskelesi kuruluydu içeri giremedik
Be kalamadık onlara bildirdik kalamayacağınızı ama o şekil bir hilton ilk gördüm
It's one of the most beautiful hotels in the US. The right areas were preserved.
Parking was expensive and confusing to get back to your car.
