The staff were fantastic and made the stay that much more enjoyable.
Nothing it was an amazing hotel.
Beautiful - well located - comfortable - exceptional service! Loved everything about it. It will be where I stay on every trip to Nairobi from here on out!

We had 3 nights at the fabulous Fairmont The Norfolk Hotel in Nairobi just before we headed off on safari. It was a great base to explore from in terms of its location and it was topped off by having wonderful staff (especially the ladies on reception) and being in a quiet location. The rooms were cosy and comfortable with a high standard of linen and cleanliness. It felt safe and well-maintained - plus points for great showers. Sadly the weather was poor when we were there so we couldn't make use of the small pool, but it looked inviting. Breakfast was a standout with lots of choices and delicious food. We ate in the bar one evening and everyone enjoyed their meals and the prices were reasonable. Very happy to have stayed here and would recommend.
For the hotel's suggestion - hand towels could do with being one size bigger so ladies can use them to wrap washed hair in (they are too small) and the pillows were a little too plump for both my husband and I so we got slightly sore necks. Also, please consider spraying for mosquitoes at the turn-down service. We were both badly bitten on the first night, but after asking for the room to be sprayed, faced no other issues. These are very minor things and overall, it was a 5* stay. Thank you.
What was meant to be a single night stopover in Nairobi ended up as 4 nights due to The Middle East Conflict. All flights grounded through Doha ( thanks very much you know who you are!)
The team at The Norfolk were fantastic ensuring that anything I needed from toiletries to calls etc were dealt with quickly and efficiently. All staff are super friendly in what is a beautiful colonial hotel located centrally in The City.
Food was well presented both in the restaurants and bars and great value for money.
All in all if you need somewhere to decamp in Nairobi you can’t go wrong with a stay at the Norfolk!
This Fairmont is not only historically interesting, it is also under great management (Russell and Heinz) who manage an amazing staff. I was sad to leave my new family of friends. Everyone treated me like royalty. I always felt safe and I enjoyed every minute of my stay.
Thank you Christine for your amazing customer service every day. You are the best receptionist ever. There are so many staff members I would like to thank for making my experience so memorable. Kanja, Kevin, Rebecca, Johnny and more. I wish I could name you all. The staff is truly amazing in helping make beautiful memories. I highly recommend this hotel.
Unfortunately we were only there for one night - but everything was lovely !
The staff were wonderful
And the express breakfast was lovely
Tatu is a top restaurant, and all the staff were excellent
The pool is a bitoverlooked
A luxurious 5 star hotel tucked in the middle of the city but away from noisy and crowded road. The hotel is bang opposite to Kenya Cultural Centre and walkable distance to the National Museums of Kenya and to the highway. The staff was welcoming and checked in went smoothly after placing few bags for safe keeping with the concierge. The rooms are quite comfortable but found the beds too soft and jumpy. The room overlooked the beautifully landscaped courtyard garden which gave some peace to its character. The restaurant served good food too. The Room Service and the Housekeeping staff were quite efficient.
Used to be an iconic hotel. Now taken over by a chain so has lost its charm and historical feel. Situated in an unattractive road with high rise blocks and what look like warehouses. It’s not possible/ advised to walk outside the hotel. There’s nothing to see there anyway.
Exceptional in every sense.
Environment and the property
Our evening meal was a disaster with multiple problems with service and the food. We were there in 1988 and returned to stay which was excellent however the celebration meal didn’t work out.
We had a fabulous stay at the tail end of our twelve day safari.
The service was attentive and impeccable, everyone was so lovely. We had great conversations with the waiters at Cin Cin bar (thank you Isaac for taking care of us so well).
The hotel is beautiful, it has an amazing history and heritage in Nairobi, which is part of why we wanted to stay here.
Our room was clean and comfortable, and serviced everyday with a turn down at night. The pool is heated and we swam in it everyday of our stay, with plenty of daybeds to lay out on.
The restaurants (Tatu and Lord Delamere terrace) are both great for different reasons. Tatu for a bit more fine dining (I made a separate review in how lovely our meal was here) and Lord Delamere for breakfast and a more casual diner.
I'd definitely recommend The Norfolk as it has charm, heritage, and incredible staff. Plus its central location makes it an easy spot to get to the Museum and other locations.
I had some experience on good food service and great adventures. They are the best ever serving places I ever visited in.
Very good
