Visited the property for a quick one night business trip with my daughter and definitely have no desire to come back. The hotel is just OK and not up to Ritz Carlton standards. Despite being a titanium member and the hotel being almost empty at holiday season the hotel did virtually nothing to recognize status. I was told that my room was an upgrade, however it looked to be the exact room category booked and was just off the elevator in a noisy, high traffic area. No welcome gift or amenity was provided which was a first for me at a luxury Marriott property; Not even a welcome cookie and the request for access to the club lounge was met with a hard no but for the price of $150 per person they would grant access. This was quite the contrast from the service that I received at the San Francisco property only a few months earlier.
The room itself was dated and was in need of a refresh. The furnishings looked modern for the early 2000 and the bathroom was nothing special and certainly not at the level of a Ritz. Little touches such as exposed screws in the shower and a hole in the bathroom door where a lock should be (so big that someone could easily look through) are examples demonstrating that this property is not up to standards. The bed was OK, but nothing special. Bathroom towels were lackluster and probably the same quality as my recent Westin stay. There was nothing plush about the Ritz bath amenities and the "bulk" refillable bath products were also less than luxurious.
Food on property is limited, expensive and less than mediocre. We ate at the hotel for all of our meals and did not find one that was at the level of a Ritz. Room service was sub par from the ordering experience in which the staff taking orders did not seem to be aware of the menu items to delivering incorrect and inedible meals. My daughter and I both ate just enough of our dinner meals to get through the night and go to bed. Unfortunately the following morning was met with an equally poor quality breakfast service in which my "iced coffee" came to me in a hot carafe and was nothing more than a pot of hot coffee in which they dumped ice in it ... and by the time it arrived at the room ... was nothing more than watered down luke warm coffee. Perhaps the situation would not have been as frustrating had there not been a long discussion on the phone with the room service agent asking if they could make an iced coffee and it was assured that the hotel could. Clearly they could not, nor did they care to provide appropriate service.
The hotel does offer small candy / snacks mid day with the smallest "condiment" size containers which fit about 4 candies. That said ... this was probably a good thing as the candies put out were not suitable for consumption. I'm not quite sure if they were poor quality or just expired, but either way they were not edible. You know when a pre-teen girl won't eat the candy ... it has to be really bad.
Overall service at the hotel was poor. I received better service from lesser tier Marriott hotels, including a Residence Inn in the middle of nowhere. Front desk staff appeared to be new and not capable of engaging with customers beyond the standard "script" and the service in the hotel restaurant was non existent... to the point where I had to get up from my table and go to the main hostess stand to get my final bill settled. Even at drop off / hotel entry, there was no bell service engaging to assist and open the doors, despite staff being stationed in the bell station.
At check out time, I requested a final folio and was told via the text chat that I would only be given that information following check out, which makes absolutely no sense ... when I asked how was I know know if the folio is correct, I got a passive aggressive "trust us" response. Upon pushing for the folio, one was delivered and guess what ... it was wrong and did not include the hotel credits which were supposed to be applied to my account. I had to push for another folio yet again. After several requests and corrections, they finally got it right.
It should also be noted that the hotel has nothing around it. The location is less than ideal if you are looking to be centrally located in the city. The hotel also has limited amenities. There is a small gym which was OK and not bad for a city gym. There is no pool and we were told that use of the W Atlanta would be possible prior to booking, however the hotel staff didn't seem to know anything about this.
Fast forward to this years festive holiday celebration with family ... I mentioned I was in the Ritz Carlton in Atlanta ... to which a family member immediately jumped in to say ... "Ugh ... that is by far the worst Ritz I have ever stayed in" ... Well ... after a night at this hotel ... I do agree with him and wished that I had picked another property for this quick trip. The only positive is that my trip originally planned for 2 nights was reduced to only 1 so I didn't get stuck at this hotel longer than necessary.
Only in an instance where you are looking for a basic place to rest your head, no frills, no service and in need of a Marriott stay credit would I suggest someone stay at this property.
Do better Marriott ... This property is not up to Ritz standards.
Hotel bien céntrico y cómodo .Las habitaciones muy buenas y espaciosas.
We arrived on the 27th around eight thirty and found one person at the front counter who booked her room through a third party and found out that she paid too much. She was trying to negotiate a new price the counter man. This went on for ten minutes until someone else came from the back room to help out at the counter. By then there was a lobby full of people and kids running around making all kind of noise. We finally checked in. Our luggage was still at the airport because it arrived way before us. We had to go back to the airport about two hours after we checked in and when we came back to the hotel there was no one to assist us with our luggage. So we loaded our five suitcases on the luggage hauler my wife held the door for me and we went into the lobby to find three employees standing at the counter talking. Not one of them asked to help us we told them we were leaving the suitcase hauler outside our room and they just looked and OK. In the morning we called down for someone to come get our luggage and no one showed up. So the suitcase hauler was still sitting outside our room so we used it to haul our stuff back down only to find again no one to help in the lobby. We loaded our luggage into our Uber and left. We would never stay there ever again.
We stayed at the Ritz-Carlton Atlanta as a family and booked two rooms. Unfortunately, the stay felt quite ordinary compared to other Ritz-Carlton properties we’ve experienced.
The rooms were fine but lacked the level of luxury and attention to detail we usually expect from this brand. Despite requesting rooms together, they were not located near each other. As Titanium Elite members, we were also disappointed that no upgrades were available.
A very minor detail, but worth mentioning: complimentary coffee was available in the morning, but no tea. Small touches like this typically help elevate the Ritz experience, and they were missing here.
The location is definitely a strong point — very convenient and central.
Overall, this stay was underwhelming compared to other Ritz-Carlton hotels we’ve stayed at. 3 out of 5 stars.
Location and Hotel both are great. Just a walking distance away from Marta or even most of the attractions in Atlanta. Service was great, rooms were super clean and comfy. Only part I had little struggle with was food. Being vegetarian (no egg, no mushroom) there were a very limited option to choose from. Literally in breakfast only thing that matched was a Avocado Toast and for dinner it was soup. May be having a bit more Veg options will be great. Overall experience was great, and staff was very humble and helpful.
Ritz Carlton is meant to be a luxury brand within the Marriott stable. I arrived at the Atlanta location with high expectations. Unfortunately, what I experienced over four nights fell well short of the luxury and service standards associated with the brand.
From the outset, the hotel felt severely understaffed. Despite a multi-night stay, not a single staff member addressed me by name, something that should be a hallmark of personalized service at this level. Housekeeping only managed to reach my room late in the day, around 4 PM, making it difficult to plan around any in-room downtime.
The food and beverage experience was, frankly, one of the greatest disappointments. Breakfast service was disorganized and inattentive, with an offering that lacked variety, quality, and care. I’d strongly caution anyone thinking of dining here in the morning, especially if you’re pressed for time or expecting something more refined than a mid-tier chain hotel buffet. (See attached photos for reference.)
What’s more concerning is the overall lack of energy and engagement from the team. Across nearly every interaction, it felt as though the staff were disinterested or demotivated. There’s little evidence of a strong service culture here, which is deeply surprising for a Ritz-Carlton property. No warm welcomes, no memorable service moments, and certainly no “wow” factor.
The hotel is in poor condition, to some degree I can look past the shortfalls IF the culture was more hospitable.
The downtown location may be convenient for some, but it’s hard to find any redeeming qualities that would make me return. As a frequent guest of Marriott's I genuinely believe this may be the weakest property in the Ritz-Carlton portfolio.
Amazing hotel at central of downtown with friendly staff , clean and hygiene rooms . Very good breakfast and bar to enjoy evening with.
Very friendly staff and great location
Nothing
Very nice experience! The hotel is close to everything and the atmosphere was relaxed.
