From 1st January 2023, a tourist tax of RM 10 per room per night is applied to all foreign guests. This tax is not included in the room rate and must be paid upon check-in. Guests with a valid Malaysian Identity Card or valid permanent residents MY PR Card are exempted. The name on the credit card used for the booking should correspond to the guest staying at the property. As platinum members of the Marriott group, we have consistently chosen JW Marriott for our stays in Kuala Lumpur. Unfortunately, our recent experience was deeply disappointing, leading us to believe that the quality of service has significantly declined.
This stay was markedly different from our previous visits. My brother and I checked in separately, which introduced an unusual aspect to our experience.
Upon arrival, I encountered rudeness from the staff Asif , including the duty manager, Linda Apostolos. We were made to wait for over 30-40 minutes and greeted with an unfriendly demeanor, setting a negative tone for our visit. Furthermore, our request to use the lounge was denied.
During check-in, we explicitly stated our preference to avoid being assigned to a last room. Disappointingly, we waited over 30 minutes only to be given the exact room we had requested to avoid. It was shocking to see our preferences disregarded despite our clear communication.
To add to our frustration, one of the two room keys provided was defective, while the other worked. Such a basic oversight should never occur in a hotel of this caliber. Additionally, our luggage took over an hour to arrive, and we later discovered it had been sent to a different room. The staff failed to inform us of the mix-up, which felt deliberate.
When we attempted to discuss our issues with Manager Linda Apostolos, we were left waiting in the lobby for over 40 minutes—a completely unacceptable wait time for a five-star establishment. Although she eventually spoke with us, her attitude mirrored that of her staff: dismissive and rude. show me black face.I noted her conversing with other employees instead of addressing our concerns, and she only reluctantly agreed to meet with us after being prompted a second time.
Overall, our check-in experience extended beyond 40 minutes, leaving us feeling frustrated and disappointed. This is certainly not the level of service one expects from a five-star hotel in Kuala Lumpur. We hope our feedback is taken seriously to ensure that future guests do not encounter the same issues we did.
Recently booked 2 rooms for 2 nights and included breakfast in the rate, can honestly say i picked the JW purely expecting a great breakfast with there standards as there are so many hotels to pick from in KL. unfortunately this was not the case, arrived to what can only be described as a busy food hall, we were taken to an adjoining restaurant which had the overflow with a small buffet set in there also away from the main buffet, what was on the small buffet was warm at best and not really being used so gave it a miss
the main buffet food was so disappointing, eat with your eyes they say!
red velvet muffin was that overcooked and dry the paper wads stuck to the muffin and could not peel off, all danish were frozen reheated ones
scrambled eggs!! picture attached was enough to walk out and try and get a refund
was refunded USD 36.1 which equates to a USD of 4.52 per person, maybe this is why there breakfast was so poor
if you are staying avoid the feeding fenzy in the basement
What i like most is Pavillion Mall is just across the road!

Hotel was very clean and good location opposite pavilion mall.
Traffic gets very bad in this area when you want to go places from the hotel.
The Location and Ambiance were great . Rooms spacious , staff friendly and helpful.
Enjoyable stay with very good breakfast the rooms very clean. The location was easable accessible. The staff made us feel at home.
