Monterey Beach Hotel, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Love the ocean front room and the decks with the seating and fireplace tables. The property is so well organized, clean, and positioned perfectly. Food at the Latern room and at the bar was delicious and service was amazing

This is a wonderful hotel with beautiful ocean views and quick access to downtown Monterey, Carmel, etc. Rooms are clean and you can hear the waves crashing. I used the gym and it’s very large with clean, modern equipment. The service is exceptional. Sheevani was so accommodating to my early check in and late check out due to my flight times. She and her colleagues made my stay so welcoming- appreciated the glass of wine before my uber came! I will definitely be back when my business is in town again.

I stay at a lot of hotels. This one stands out. The location, beach access, great staff, the wine machine and the ice is awesome

I come to the bar at this hotel sporadically when I’m craving a good drink, a pretty view, and a little main-character moment. You know the vibe — soft lighting, something sparkling in your glass, pretending you’re in a Hallmark movie where you “just needed a quiet moment away.”

Hanna absolutely makes that experience.

She’s warm without being overbearing, attentive without hovering, and somehow manages to make you feel like you’re her bestie within minutes. There’s a welcoming energy about her that stands out immediately.

I’ve interacted with other staff before and let’s just say… the contrast is noticeable. Hanna brings kindness and professionalism in a way that elevates the whole place. It feels intentional. It feels genuine.

If you’re going for the atmosphere, the drinks, and that cozy-escape feeling — hope she’s working.

The experience just hits different when she is. 🍷✨

We enjoyed several aspects of our stay at Monterey Beach Hotel. The room was clean, and the ocean views were beautiful. Having the beach directly in front of our room was a highlight, and the walk-down stairs made beach access easy and convenient.

The outdoor decks with fire pits were a nice feature, and we appreciated that they offered s’mores kits for the kids — that was a thoughtful touch. The daily drink voucher is also a nice perk for guests, as well as the other perks like the E bike rental, cold plunge and sauna, though we did not partake. The staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

We also liked that parking was located close to our room, which made unloading and coming and going easier.

Overall, the beachfront location and views are definitely the standout features of the property.

Great location. Service was also great. Rooms look newly updated. We had a first floor room which walks out to sofas with a fire pit overlooking the ocean. The complimentary two glasses of wine was a nice touch also.

10/10 for location and service! I highly recommend an ocean front room, but anywhere you stay, there is plenty of beautiful outdoor seating available. To watch the waves, surfers and wildlife, walk on the beach or relax with some wine. Sheevani at the front desk set an excellent tone of hospitality for my whole stay! She went out of her way to make sure I was accommodated and always had what I needed for my stay. ⭐️⭐️

Exceptional service and serene views! I’ve become a regular here, staying one week a month, and it never disappoints. The hotel has a unique, friendly family-like atmosphere that is hard to find. A huge shout-out to Sheevani, who is the absolute best. She consistently goes above and beyond to make sure I’m comfortable, making the hotel feel like a true home away from home. Between the amazing ocean views and the peaceful environment, it's the perfect place to recharge. Do yourself a favor and stay here!

Great hotel to stay for beautiful views and direct access to beach. We made a last minute reservation and the front desk went above and beyond to find us a good room. The young man could not have been more helpful.

The room was on the ground floor with a fire pit outside. HIghly recommend getting a room with bay view if you can. The room was nice nothing special but clean and comfy with a sitting area. Appreciated the very easy places to plug in devices.

The restaurant has fabulous views.. Service was very good. We only had breakfast There was a good selection of a la carte items. I had the avocado toast which was tasty.

Only small complaint is the cost of parking. $50 for outdoor parking is exorbitant. Overall if you enjoy nature and want to walk on the beach this is good choice

I really appreciated staff during this trip. We came to celebrate my child’s 1st birthday. Not just celebrate, but be there on his actual birthday. Something so special!
Sheevani went out of her way to make the trip extra special. Hand written notes, great recommendations about the area & property. We planned on being out of the room/hotel a lot but ended up staying because she gave us so many ideas! Honestly, without her, our trip would not be 10/10.

I’ve stayed at Marriott properties all over the world, and I can confidently say this was one of the single best Marriott experiences I’ve ever had.
Rebekah Evergreen assisted me with my reservation and went above and beyond by taking the time to handwrite restaurant recommendations that were absolutely spot-on. She was personality-plus on the phone, and when I arrived at the hotel that evening, I couldn’t have asked for a warmer or more genuine welcome.
Deniz Farnell, the Front Desk Manager, checked me in and did an outstanding job. She was extremely attentive to my needs and assisted me with everything I required throughout my stay. Both of these employees truly went out of their way to ensure my experience was flawless.
If every Marriott employed team members like Rebekah and Deniz, every property would be five-star. Thank you to these two exceptional young ladies, and also to the ownership for employing such top-tier professionals. They were truly beyond top shelf.

Having a morning coffee with my wife watching and listening to the waves crashing is incredible! I highly recommend a stay here to unwind and enjoy unmatched ambiance.

Here's why I'm giving this hotel 3 stars. None of this is really a complaint. I just want others to understand some things.
We had a first floor ocean view room. Great view. Nice room. Great TV-You can stream from your device. Comfortable bed. 2 hrs e-bike rental, a card to get self-service wine. Great restaurant-I only had breakfast, wonderful food and view. So, what's my problem?
My room was 280/night-not bad. Total for 2 nights was $830. So, as you can see the fees are huge. In addition, when you check-in, there's another $250 taken-$57/night for parking and $30/ day for another destination fee. So my $280/night room came out to about $500/night. So, Great hotel, but I've never seen so many fees and extras forced on you. Oh, and we couldn't even rent the e-bike-the app wasn't working. I won't stay here again!

I've driving by this hotel on the way to Monterey/Carmel many times assuming it as not what I wanted. I was wrong! It was right on top of the beach with no hotels on that whole part of the bay. Every employee treated us special. Rebekah, Tori, Sheevani. They each gave us some free perks which thrilled us immensely. Rode the e-bikes (free for 2 hours!) through Monterey and the coast — a spectacular experience. And enjoyed the wine samples sitting over the waves below watching the sunset. Even their restaurant was great. All locally farmed food and treats! What a gem! What great people there.
