Beautifully decorated property, very clean and well maintained. Rooms had comfortable beds and hot showers with excellent water pressure. Breakfast was included and was delicious and filling. Easy to walk everywhere in the the old town.

Un lugar muy hospitalario, muy acogedor, y las instalaciones hermosas parece un museo tallado en madera 😍
Beautiful hotel in the perfect location. The family room was a great fit for our family with teens and the breakfast was the best we’ve had from a hotel, which included a bread/pastry, eggs, and fresh fruit. We stayed at this hotel at the start and end of our trip. It was perfect, and I would definitely book it again.

We really enjoyed our 3 nights at Hotel Basilica, the perfect base for exploring Quito’s historic center on foot. It has a real guest house feel and we felt it was an outstanding value. We had a two-level family room with a loft that had twin beds for our 2 boys upstairs, and a two story mural of the city. The staff and manager were super kind and professional - and organized our airport transfers etc. They even helped locate my son’s stuffed puppy which we left behind and coordinated with our tour guide to get it back to us. Delicious hearty breakfast every day in the charming central courtyard. We felt totally safe at this hotel and in Quito more generally. Loved the historic center!
Loved everything! Location, breakfast and amazing historical building!
The hotel was a beautiful, well maintained colonial building, full of history and character. It was right in the heart of the historic center of Quito, just a couple blocks from Plaza Grande, the Cathedral, and the Basilica and near restaurants and shops. The hotel is warm and welcoming, and very clean. Our room was very spacious and comfortable, with classic furniture and a large mural. All the rooms share the theme of reflecting a local church/cathedral and were similar to ours. The owner and her team make it feel like you’re visiting family, and they are wonderful, responsive, helpful and always available. The breakfasts provided were excellent, and a great way to start the day. They arranged reliable trusted transportation from and to the airport which was very convenient. I would highly recommend this hotel for families and travelers, and anyone wanting a great stay in Quito’s historic center.
Friendly staff, great vibe and close to everything Quito's historic center has to offer. Loved the patios, plants and everything about my stay. Can't wait to come back!
The staff is so kind. You always feel safe, and all of the drivers and tours that were arranged through the hotel were so kind and have such high-quality.
The location cannot be beat. You can walk to the center of town and to the Basilica Cathedral in minutes. It’s the perfect place to stay to explore keto for a day or two.
Hotel La Basilica was fantastic! The hosts are so warm, welcoming, and very helpful. I honestly felt like I was a guest in someone's home. I don't think I've ever stayed at a hotel and got a hug when I was leaving. The location is perfect, and the room was spacious, very nicely decorated, and breakfast was terrific. If I'm back in Quito, I will definitely stay there again!
Arrived late and the hotel was pretty empty. Its located perfectly about 4 blocks from most sites. The neighborhood is quiet at night and everything is shut down so if you are arriving late, pick some waters and snacks on the way. The staff was amazing. Very accomodating. The room also very nice and plenty of space. Rustic theme with a nice ambience. Bathroom had a great shower and hot water so no complaints after a long journey. Televisions are small and you have to have a Samsung account to access smart functions like netflix. Be sure you take your profile off when before you leave.
Staff are not there 24 hours so if there is an issue I am not sure how you would get it a resolved. They give you a key to your door and you leave the key to your room at the desk, which is not guarded so anybody can access it in the hotel. Housekeeping is very diligent and all the staff are amazingly kind. I would recommend staying here if you are in town. Price was very reasonable booked through Expedia
I'm excited we get to rate this hotel twice because we loved it that much! We stayed for 2 days at the Hotel La Basilica, left most of our luggage with them while we walked the Quilotoa Loop, and then returned to the Hotel La Basilica for another 2 night stay. The staff there arranged for a return ride for us from Quilotoa and to the airport which was super easy and the price was very reasonable. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and were always available if we needed anything, and their attention to detail was impressive. We felt super safe, the food was great, and the hotel itself was absolutely spotless and beautiful. The history and architecture of the building was also truly special. The 2 enclosed courtyards were amazing, and the views from the rooftop balcony of all the famous sights was a fun bonus. We will be recommending to anyone we know that is going to Quito to stay here, it was definitely one of the best experiences we've had at any accommodation.
I can't think of anything.
Breakfast was great. Everyone was very friendly, helpful and efficient. Great location.
Cómodo y acogedor
En la noche al llegar es un poco peligroso ya que hay que esperar afuera en la calle para que abran las puertas para entrar
Fantastic property and the staff was amazing. Large, comfortable room for our family of 4. Spotless clean. The location was perfect for the old town of Quito. It’s an easy walk to the sites. Great restaurants within a few blocks. Wonderful breakfast in the courtyard. Always felt safe walking around Old Town. Less concerning than any large city in the US. There are a handful of hotels we’ve stayed in around the world that are truly special - this is one of them.
Nothing at all. It was perfect n
We had a wonderful stay at Hotel La Basílica in Quito. The location is outstanding—just a short walk from the historic center, making it easy to explore the city’s beautiful churches, plazas, restaurants, and museums while still enjoying a peaceful atmosphere.
The hotel itself is charming, beautifully restored, and full of character. Our room was comfortable, clean, and thoughtfully designed, blending historic charm with modern amenities. Every morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast with fresh local ingredients that gave us a great start to the day.
What truly made our stay exceptional was the staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and eager to help with recommendations, transportation, and anything else we needed. Their hospitality made us feel right at home.
If you’re looking for a boutique hotel with excellent service, a perfect location, and a unique atmosphere in Quito’s Historic Center, Hotel La Basílica is an excellent choice. We would gladly stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Quito
Mariam and her team were wonderful. The hotel is right in the heart of the historic district. A quiet safe neighborhood. The hotel itself was clean, well staffed and filled with accommodations. The breakfast each day was wonderful. Beds comfortable and our rooms were so well kept by the housekeeping staff of Stephany and Susana. We will definitely stay here again. Also have the hotel arrange to have Oswaldo pick you up at the airport. A great touch.
The location was as described. The rooftop view is interesting although not particularly beautiful. Best part of our stay was the friendly hotel maid who checked us out. She gave us bracelets as a parting gift.
Don’t know how this hotel gets its ratings?! There were padlocks on the doors that we had to use to lock ourselves in, the room was so hot. No air conditioning only a mounted fan. Very little air circulation so it makes it hot to sleep. There were gnats in our room and all in the bathroom. Clean towels were set up on the show bed runner. Not very smart. Bedding had stains. The hotel is small and has strange decor; feels a little creepy. The person who met us to check in was grumpy and not very friendly. Hotel is not accommodating. When asking about if they have a place we could leave luggage the woman pointed to a big sign that says we would have to pay for an additional night to store any luggage. There’s also little picky signs everywhere in the building reminding you to save water, turn off lights, washing any clothing in the sink is forbidden, etc. worse sign was about thieves throwing mud- not a safe area. Oh and be ready to have to throw all your used toilet paper in the trash that’s practically on top of the toilet. I’ve traveled the world and know this is typical in some countries but it was not well done in this hotel. The hole in the wall by the bathroom was not very nice either.
Overall, not the experience we thought we would have. Had a mix up with the room where she gave us on room that was a family room with the second room blocked off by a wardrobe- no explanation that it was a family room. Paid for two rooms then ended up getting the family room together as it was more secure. Expensive for what we got. Very strange experience overall. I’m sure there are better places to stay in Quito!
Hotel La Basílica Quito is a wonderful place to stay in the historic center of Quito. The hosts are gracious, informative, and caring. The room was immaculate and beautiful and the hotel is a wonderfully preserved historic home. Breakfast was served graciously and included a fresh cut assortment of tasty fruit and eggs prepared to order. We felt well cared for here.
