Great property in a central location. Staff went out of their way to accommodate anything we asked.
No complaints at all.

In historical district, it is in an old building with lots of murals, the staff were kind, friendly and helpful
Staff was amazing and the hotel is beautiful. Breakfasts were delicious. Great location in the old town. A few minute walk from the Basicilla and Independence Square.
Only note is the room in the front of the hotel did have some street noise from cars.
My stay here was wonderful. The staff was EXCEPTIONAL and very welcoming and helpful. The entire Hotel was spotless, offers a tasty complimentary breakfast, coffee/tea, and drinking water for your daily outings.
It was so comfortable and quiet, a really nice reprieve from a busy day while touring the area.
When I return to Quito, I will look forward to staying here again!
A Well-Run B&B in a Terrible Location
The Good:
The owner lives on-site and is hands-on. His wife is NOT pleasant and manages the cooking and front desk.
The cleaning staff (2-3 people) kept the place tidy. The owner wife is not friendly.
The Bad (and it's severe):
Guests are not allowed.
Dangerous Location: The downtown area is unsafe due to frequent protests and a high risk of theft.
Constant Unrest: Daily protests lead to a heavy presence of police and military.
Security Lockdowns: The hotel was often locked, limiting access. the hotel is locked after 9 pm so forget about going anywhere afetr 9 pm at night.
No Peace of Mind: Felt threatened by the environment both day and night.
Verdict: Do not stay here. The operational aspects are fine, but the location makes it an unacceptable choice for any traveler. Stay elsewhere.
Hotel La Basilica is a lovely boutique hotel right in the heart of the historic district. It is beautifully maintained and furnished, and the rooms are spotless and well appointed. It was also very secure; guests are buzzed in and the doors are locked at night. Note that if you have an early tour, you need to let them know in advance.
The owner Miriam and staff were very friendly and were devoted to our well being. The breakfasts were good with lots of fresh fruit and warm bread. I appreciated the fact that hot water for tea was available all day. There is also a lovely courtyard to spend time in while not in your room.
The rooms could be a bit stuffy but that was easily solved by opening a window during the day. On the plus side, the room was perfectly quiet with the windows closed.
A beautiful hotel with great owners who went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable!
amazing service, tremendous property, great location.
will come back 100%.
Overall - I would recommend this hotel if you want to stay in the historic center and are looking for a midrange option. Great location, clean and quiet, lots of historical character, staff pretty helpful, can arrange day trips.
Location - excellent - very near all the main sights in historic center - everything of interest is within a ten minute walk, and if you do need to take an Uber or taxi they were very cheap e.g. $4 for a 15 minute journey.
Rooms - clean, decent size, good bathroom, decent bed, space for luggage, rooms 1 and 2 at the back and on the ground level were very quiet, lots of historical character. The owner said that room 9 is the best in the hotel.
Breakfast - bowl of fresh fruits, small fruit juice (mixed with milk or yoghurt?), choice of two eggs fried, omelette or scrambled and some bread or hard biscotti style biscuits - there are two bread shops within 2 minute walk if you want to get extra yourself - cafe En Dulce was good. Only choice is how you have your eggs. It is served to your table, between 7.30am and 9am.
Hotel - small, family run, lots of historical character. Said to be 250 years old but in decent condition.
Owner - at first impression seems quite a strong personality, but we were there five days with a mix of English and Spanish speakers and the owner was very friendly and helpful to us. We witnessed her being very helpful to several other guests, although she does have to use Google translate when talking with non Spanish speakers but it seemed to work pretty well as we understood both the Spanish and English translations and they seemed generally pretty good.
Day trips - the hotel can arrange private tours for you and your group, probably at similar prices to Viator etc. Mindo and spas at Papallacta are about one and a half to two hours away but very scenic drives on mainly decent quality roads. If you go to Mindo, you can stop at Mitad del Mundo on the way but it did not open until 9.30am when we visited.
Breakfast is very simple - some days we went out to get our own fresh bread and bring it back.
We had no issues during our five night stay.
The staff was lovely and friendly, room was clean and comfortable, location excellent.
Excellent location in the heart of the historical centre.
Miriam (the owner) was a delight and always ready to assist with making our stay more pleasant and memorable.
The room was spacious, with a decent sized bathroom and small balcony.
Breakfast was simple but sufficient, especially loved the fruit.
They could not store our luggage so we had to pay for an extra night, as our flight home was around midnight.
EL HOTEL ES MARAVILLOSO, MIRIAM NOS ATENDIO CON 100% DISPONIBILIDAD , LA ATENCION AMABILIDAD DE TODOS A DESTACAR,,VOLVERE
NADA TODO PERFECTO
