Clean room and spacious room.
Quiet, attentive staff. Not the most pretty area of town but affordable and close to the airport for a one night stay.
The hotel offers two star services at best:
1. The wifi doesn't work in the bedroom.
2. The chairs on the balcony are broken and the cushions are filthy.
3. The swimming pool is freezing and is littered with dead flies. Also, the photos make it look like an indoor pool. It's outdoor and you have to walk through reception to get there.
4. The jacuzzi is cold.
5. You have to ask for someone to turn on the sauna, and then wait 45 minutes for it to warm up.
6. You have to ask for your room to be made up.
7. Management are disrespectful and clearly incapable of running a "four star property".
8. Poor location.
9. Obvious sex work happening on the property, so not ideal for couples, single women or families.
Story time:
I am living in KSA and am in Bahrain about twice a month. This time, I decided to stay at a nicer "four-star" property, than my usual hub, the Ibis. I arrived at the property and was instantly disappointed by the abovementioned issues, but decided to let it go since I was just staying for a couple of nights.
During my stay, I was on my period. Fun. And the first morning there were small spots of blood on the sheets. I went about my day and came back to my room still not made up, so I asked reception to kindly make up my room and replenish the toiletries. As someone who has worked on reception at a five star property, this is not a big ask, and should be part and parcel of the service.
They did so, but obviously reacted like I asked for a kidney as upon check-out the male receptionist trembling said "house-keeping said there's a problem with the bedding". He then produced a photograph and zoomed in on two small blood stains. "What is this?" he asked like a complete handicap.
I looked him dead in the eye and said "I got my period". He was clearly very uncomfortable, but my sympathy had left the chat as he had decided to say this to me in front of the male concierge and two male guests. He then proceeded to tell me he had to charge me for the sheets as they could never be used again.
I have stayed and worked in hotels all over the world, from 1-5 stars, and can assure you, this never happens. I then did something, I have never done before - be a Karen. "Listen sweetheart, I know this isn't your decision and you're clearly very uncomfortable so I'm going to need to speak to management".
Bear in mind, that I NEVER give a poor or lukewarm review without first speaking to management to give them the opportunity to rectify the issue. I have friends and family members who own businesses, so have no interest in leaving negative reviews and harming any business.
The "manager" arrives and was extremely unprofessional. He told me that I had to be charged because of the "safety issue with the blood". OK, so implying I can give someone AIDS from small bloodstains. Cool, we're off to a great start. He then told me that it was my "personal issue" and handed me his card so I could have a discount next time. I told him he was out of his mind.
I went through the myriad of issues with the hotel and informed him that this does not happen in hotels. I understand some guests destroy a room and should be charged, people getting drunk who vomit, piss the bed and destroy the mattress. This was not the case. If it was, I would have apologized and left 50 quid for the housekeeping staff.
Instead, he kept embarrassing me in front of male staff and guests. I left the hotel in tears. Granted, I'm sure 70% of that was my hormones, but still, it's not nice to put a guest in that situation.
Overall, I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone other than single men seeking sex tourism. I am sure you will have a lovely time at the "spa" or meet the love of your life at the bar. I would be very curious to hear if they charge for other types of stains... The Meshal is essentially a brothel with a niceish lobby. And if that's your vibe, I'm sure you'll have a lovely time.
P.S.I waited until my period finished before writing this. I have no doubt you were wondering xoxo
Hotel, Spa, Nightclub! The hotel was great, clean and convenient but not quite in the best area. This is quite a party place, three nightclubs, big spa and further bars. The gym had oldish facilities and the food prepared in a slightly different area. Plated breakfast rather than a buffet!
Booked one night as we had an early flight based on other reviews - felt like we were staying in a different hotel as we didn’t have the same experience as other reviewers…
Area around the hotel isn’t pleasant but it’s not far from the airport.
Rooms large with balcony but very tired - cleaners look to be doing their best but toilet seat was loose, stained yellow and rusted.
Stains on side table and on tissue box cover and booklet.
Lobby was nice enough
I requested additional water bottles besides 2 in the room and was told, you must pay. There was no other drinking water at the property or in the room. It was unbelievable that this property charges for water bottles or expects guests to have a thirsty stay :(
A pleasant stay at the Meshal Hotel - check-in and out were speedy and staff were friendly and helpful. Room was a decent size, clean and a comfortable bed.
Overall, this hotel is ok. I’ve stayed in worse. Rooms are good, could be cleaner, a bit tired but ok. First night we decided to go to the 1st floor where the pub bar was located. We sat down and took in the atmosphere of our empty surroundings and straight away the bar lady inquired as to what we’d like to drink. I opted for a vodka & sprite and my wife had a beer. When I said to put the drinks on the room, she politely declined and said we had to pay her. We did but it made me suspicious and when I looked at the bill, my vodka worked out at £21.00 and the beer £12.00. I asked for the drinks menu for prices but the bar lady suddenly couldn’t understand English too well. I’ve been in some really great hotels through the world but I’ve never paid that for drinks, in a 4 star!!
The breakfast options were Arabic, American, English and maybe others but I stuck to the first and third over the week I stayed. Hamid was always there waiting so there was no delay in ordering. The cost (AUD$14) was very reasonable for such a large variety and amount of food. The lifts to the room were always available and as I was on the 9th floor, there was no noise from the ground floor disco. Wifi was robust and quick. The hotel was conveniently located for walking to the National Museum and Little India as well as catching buses to the airport or even further out such as Madinat Hamad to see the Karzakkan burial mounds. I noticed one reviewer said that it was not possible to walk to the National Museum from the hotel but this is not true - there is a pedestrian bridge over the freeway a little south of the hotel so it only took me 25 minutes. You could also walk over that bridge to the Al Fateh Grand Mosque in 40 minutes from the hotel. If you don't like walking like I do, then maybe you don't see the convenience of the location like I do. The TV only had BBC World News but it did have YouTube to catch up on other things.
The hotel is located in a walkable neighborhood, shops and restaurants in the vicinity - yet in a quite side street. The rooms are clean and well maintained, the staff is friendly and helpful. Most of my sightseeing was possible on foot. Highly recommend.
Great hotel!
It was a good stay. We checked in late and the reception staff was fast and pleasing. Big rooms with better than expected features. But it was a surprise to see an ash tray in the room with cigaret smelling pillows even though booked for a non smoking room!!!
Nice hotel with beautiful rooms. The room amenities were excellent.
The Manager of the reception Mr Usman was very helpful and Kind. Starting from the reservation and Though out my entire stay he was the one to help me.
I will definitely comeback, for the excellent customer support.
Thank you Mr Usman and team!

Staff very professional. Very pleasant stay, nice location. I would highly recommend to travelers looking to stay in middle of action yet affordable price
Noisy hotel, with noisy guests and strange people coming in and out of the hotel rooms at night. Booked by mistake a room for smokers and was told that there were no more rooms to accommodate us.
When asking the staff to request other guests to lower the noise at midnight, they were not only unresponsive but even suggested we were making up a story because there was no noise.
Avoid at all costs.
There were issues with the WIFI and the gym fixture. The staff were very helpful and cheerful.
Always an excellent stay and beautiful room. check-in was smooth, the ambience was good, got an upgrade for a Deluxe category of room with a balcony as a genius member free of cost. staff are attentive as we are regular guests.
If you do not mind being away from the centre where the action takes place, it is the perfect hotel if you visit Bahrain for business purposes.
The rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff is friendly and assistive.
WIFI is good
There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance.
A good value for the money hotel - nice big room and nice lobby. In a very good location - near the avenues mall and the national museum. Abed el rachman and his indian colleague were very nice in everything we asked and also let us check out a bit late
Terrible cleanliness. Bed bugs. Dirty sheets and towels. Kettle had mould growing on the inside. TV doesn’t work. Gym smells like a dead rat. Residential area, so not much around. Hotel is in disrepair. Don’t stay here.
