Always a great stay at Mendana but they are now one of the most expensive hotels in Honiara.
Pros:

This hotel is at the higher end of the price range but i keep returning as they have an EXCELLENT restaurant and very professional friendly staff. Many of the staff are long term employees and are true hospitality staff. I just hope they are appreciated by Mendana senior management.

Cons:

The reticulated TV system requires some work as reception is poor and the room lighting is not real good. Also, we stayed in one of the recently refurbished rooms and the maintenance manager should be aware that many of the newly laid floor tiles are "drummy" and will require repairs very soon.

Ok first stay
Pros:

Location is good and staff were friendly. Bed was ok.

Cons:

Hotel is outdated, only the lobby area was decent. The rooms looks like a dorm.

Pros:

Accommodation and housekeeping very good

Cons:

Restaurants were not so good. Japanese restaurant sushi selection contained only tuna. Breakfast was average at best. Lot's of rubbish on small beach.

Helpful staff, comfortable room in walking distance for where I needed to be.
Pros:

Good location in Honiara, can be fully self contained with the restaurants on site. Staff very helpful and the most reasonably priced hotel in Honiara for what it offers.

Cons:

The Mendana is currently undergoing a much needed renovation. Good bones, but tropical environments and difficulty in obtaining materials means it has slipped in appearance and functionality. Can’t wait to see the after though!

The most disappointing aspect was the attempt to overcharge the bill on purpose.

Cons:

1. The internet connection was extremely unstable. It was very difficult to work.
2. At checkout, they presented a bill for US$2,800, even though my booking was confirmed at €1,850. After an hour of discussion and showing them the Booking.com receipts, they agreed to lower the price.
3. Restaurant with low quality level.
The most disappointing aspect was their attitude and the initial attempt to overcharge by an additional US$500. The amount was gradually reduced to approximate the €1,850 originally agreed upon through Booking.com

Really nice hotel with beautiful friendly staff. Make you very welcome.
Room serviced daily
Pay a bit more for upgraded room they are really nice. Standard rooms are good, aged but everything works.
Restaurant is great, so are drinks outside at night. Didnt try the Japanese
