Overall it was just about pleasant, but I would not recommend.
Pros:

Location was good with easy access into Peak district. Room had tea/coffee making facility. The half fried eggs and hash browns were good. Toast was freshly made too which was also good. Staff was friendly.

Cons:

About the room : The room was basic and we are happy it had tea/coffee facility. But there were no hand tissues, the bathroom tub was always filling up with water within 30 seconds of shower being on. I also informed reception about this issue, but it was not solved even till the day we left the hotel. There was black mould in bathroom ceiling.

Breakfast was not too satisfactory, except some options. Porridge was prepared using water and lumps of milk powder. First day when I asked for a breakfast option of smashed avocado, they did not have that option. Next day when they had it, it was simply shop bought guacamole, not a proper prepared fresh avocado. We were not happy with this.

Every member of staff, both at the hotel and the bar, was incredibly helpful and kind throughout our stay. The bedroom was spacious and very comfortable, providing the perfect place to relax after a day out. Pros:

Staff friendly breakfast was good, well looked after.

Cons:

We decides to have evening meal there and we both had pies chicken and mushroom pie and steak and ale. The pastry was rock hard couldnt cut through with knife, it put my husband completely of his meal. It was like it had been warmed in a mircowave

Average when, with a few improvements, it could be better.
Pros:

Very spacious room and comfortable bed.

Cons:

Whole building, pub & rooms, faded and Marston’s need to refurbish. Other Marston’s I know are much better.

Doubt I will be returning.
Pros:

Staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was ok.

Cons:

Facilities were fairly poor / basic. I have never experienced such poor quality of toilet paper at any hotel I have ever stayed in. The shower gel had come off the wall and was actually handwashing not shower gel anyway.

Info in the bedroom made no reference to the wifi password.
