The location
Having friends and family visit and have dinner and the restaurant doesn’t comp the valet. Spend over $300 and still charge to valet
The room was beautiful- clean modern and had everything you could possibly need we did the 1 bedroom suite- proximity to the hospital was perfect- customer service was amazing. Everything about our stay was perfect, next time we need to be in newhaven we will be back
There was absolutely no negative it was perfect.
Well appointed and designed rooms and hotel. A pleasure to see great design in action.
Everything very modern
Clean, high ceiling, quiet, comfortable
The staff did not tell me about the laundry, which would have been useful. The restaurant could be open for breakfast?
Everything hotel is modern and clean
Hotel experience is excellent. Rooms were clean. I got the best sleep ever. Just note, avoid parking if you can. During busy times, the valet seem understaffed.
Pros:
The location is extremely convenient, near Old Campus, the Yale Art Gallery, New Haven Green, and many restaurants.
The staff were friendly.
There is parking available (though it's valet parking, for a fee).
Cons:
On arrival, the deadbolt on my room door did not work. I went back down to the front desk to alert them to the problem, and the person staffing reception came back up to the room with me and confirmed that indeed, it did not work. I was told that maintenance would be contacted. The following morning, I asked at the front desk and the person there was unaware of the issue but asked maintenance and they said the problem could not be fixed. No one expressed any regret about this security problem, nor the inconvenience of having to spend my time dealing with a maintenance issue rather than spending time with friends at the reunion I was attending. All I was offered was a much less desirable room on a lower floor right above the valet parking lot, with no view of anything but the parking lot, and no discount. For the eye-watering prices the Blake charges, I would expect either a functioning room or at least profuse apologies and prompt resolution of the issue, but got hardly more than a shrug and wasted time. Other than not locking securely, the room was mostly fine, but this experience soured me on the Blake.
Prices are high. The rates are extremely high for rooms w/o any deluxe amenities. They asked $15 for a single bottle of craft beer at the front desk, or $8 for a can of Narragansett.
Minor annoyance: I like watching my own streaming stick on hotel TVs, so I can follow my favorite teams, but this TV was situated such that no HDMI jack was reachable, so no MLB or WNBA for me. And the closed system with Netflix didn't work very well. Please ditch the proprietary portal and let us watch our own entertainment in peace.

Beautiful, modern hotel very close to the Yale campus. The service was exceptional, and the restaurant was delicious. If you’re visiting Yale, this is definitely the place to stay!
Very chic decor and style. Stunning lounge. Adorable kitchenette. Beautiful shower. Nice high ceilings. Convenient location. Easy walk to lots of appealing dining options, coffee shops, ice cream.
Restaurant was closed for private evening baby shower. Restaurant was also closed in morning. Hair dryer was busted (couldn’t plug it in).
Room was clean, comfortable, and luxurious. The restaurant was delicious!
The Blake was not only a great value and very comfortable, but also awesome rooms with everything we needed. We had a great stay and would highly recommend.
We were charged $1000 for a “deposit for incidentals” during our stay two weeks ago that has not yet been returned. They also lost our car when we valeted it and it took almost 1 hour for them to find it.
The food at the restaurant was excellent. The bed was quite comfortable and the bathroom was clean with an appealing, modern shower. The room was outfitted with a nice array of kitchen appliances — dishwasher, Nespresso machine, microwave and refrigerator making it attractive for an extended stay.
The lighting at the restaurant bar was dark, detracting from the overall dining experience, and parts of the lobby were too dark as well. There was no ice machine we could find near the room, though there was an ice bucket. One bedside outlet wasn’t functioning.
The selection of snacks in the lobby was extremely limited, and there was no milk available for coffee.
The food at the restaurants was delicious. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is great. Beautiful spacious rooms.
Ice machine was difficult to find. There were no signs pointing to the direction to where it’s located on the floor.
Smells great; clean and woodsy in the city
