The staff make this hotel. They are very friendly and helpful and full of smiles. Abbas in particular we found extremely helpful. Breakfast is good and evening meals outside very nice. Pool area good too, with an efficient and kind member of staff there at all times. There was a bit of building noise, which was unfortunate, but it was no trouble to move our room. We also really liked the location of the location, close to plenty of interesting things within walking distance.
I stayed at the Novotel Hotel for 4 nights in January to February 2025. The hotel is very stylish, clean, and comfortable. The ample lobby is very welcoming. My room had a large area for sitting, large screen TV with a few stations, including music videos of West African and international music, walk in shower, separate room for toilet.
Breakfast buffet is organized with fresh fruits, figs, apricots, prunes. various breads and what looks like home-made fruit jams. Millet, various fresh yogurts, several cereals, and smoked salmon. A few salads are also available. Hot foods include 4 – 6 items, varying from bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, hard cooked eggs, a spicy tomato based veggie dish. The made-to-order station includes eggs fixed any way, and omelets with choice of 7 ingredients and 4 spices.
Fresh juices, bottled water, several coffee and tea options round out the breakfast. Open for lunch. Dinner fare include menu ordering options or a buffet with mains, salads, sides, and dessert. Service is impeccable.
The fitness room is open 24/7, and the entrance is next to the front desk, The elliptical machines and treadmills offer a beautiful sea view during the work out. Bring your own music.
The conference rooms were always busy.
The pool area includes three cabanas and pool towel service. Very refreshing and close to pool restaurant and bar.
Security is extensive and thorough. Housekeeping service is great and trustworthy. The small gift shop offers some handicrafts including fashion batik fans, perfumes, upscale clothing for women at boutique prices.
One day my key did not work and the replacement did not work. They determined that a tech was needed. He was at work on replacing the lock battery within 5 minutes.
Everyone here was extremely helpful, polite, professional. I cannot possibly name all the wonderful people and one name I can remember is ABABACAR.
Great people and service.
Sea front rooms offer a window to the sea when you are near the window and open it for a fresh breeze.
Seaview rooms offer a window to the sea. Be aware that traditional musicians often perform at 7pm in hotel outdoor bar area, loud enough to be heard in sea view rooms.
Juste convenable
Veritable usine lors des repas ,trop de monde , des buffets asez moyen surtout le matin
Vite pillé, et lentement rempli...
La nourriture est vraiment quelquonque.
Chambre correct
Personnel sympa sans plus
I struggled because the aircon was not working properly throughout my visit. The first room I was given despite being non smoking had a bad smell of cigarettes. The sheets had stains on them too. Despite the issues the staff was friendly and helpful.
I had an overall wonderful stay. I enjoyed an upgrade which exceeded my expectations. The suite was very clean and so was the entire hotel. The ocean view was beautiful, staff were warm and friendly, and the cuisine was great. The location of the hotel is central and close proximity to my areas of interest. Special thanks to Safietou at the reception for making my stay a good one.
I had a beautiful stay thanks to the warm hospitality, upgrade with beautiful ocean view and exquisite cuisine. Special appreciation to Safietou for making my stay a special one
On the date of my arrival (May 20, 2024, at 8am) the receptionist who attended to me was rude, rude, unavailable and very aggressive. She did not provide me with information regarding access to the room, she refused to insist on my payment via Visa credit card, she refused to clearly write her name so that I could report her bad behavior. The room I stayed in did not correspond to my reservation instructions through HRS (from the World Bank), it did not have a view of the sea or pool. The mattress was extremely soft, without comfort, which prevented me from sleeping well, I needed a more rigid/orthopedic mattress, as I was at work and it is very important to be able to rest well and wake up without back pain. It was not a pleasant experience at all.
Well, there seems to be no relation to the price you pay versus what you get at this property. It never felt like a particularly good value to me, the rooms are a bit old and there seems to be nothing interesting aside from a small market that is particularly interesting nearby. The photos I see emphasize the food, which seemed acceptable to me, but no more. While I have no specific complaints about this hotel, I can't say that they tried particularly hard to make me want to come back either.
Its average but the food is great
Comfortable room, with a separate toilet room from the shower.
The roomservice food was decent, and so was the breakfast buffet.
The lunch buffet is to be avoided.
It is well located, near the port of Dakar. The international airport is about an hour by car. I would stay here again.
Nice rooms, with small fridge, safe, bottled water, but minimal toiletries. Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, but the lotion bottle was empty.
Nice buffet at breakfast and dinner, but they don't necessarily open at the appointed time, so don't count on an early breakfast.
The indoor bar isn't staffed consistently with experienced staff. Makes it a "hit or miss" situation. There's also a pool bar, but didn't go to that one.
Overlooks the ocean, and is within walking distance of a major supermarket, as well as other hotels and restaurants along the shore line. You have to exit the hotel thru a back gate to get there, but easy to do and to get back in.
The property is a bit old and location is a bit hard to find and not located in an area where you can go shopping or sightseeing.
Location! Location! We walked to the museum, Marche kermel to shop and visited other properties for lunch and spa. The beach is really nice outside the back door.
Generally the hotel was clean and well located. The rooms are a decent size and the pool is nice.
The absence of a gym was a surprise and means I won’t return. The staff were also quite abrupt, almost rude.
Breakfast is expensive.
Need a gym
The staff were so lovely and kind and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were average but mostly clean and neat. The food was amazing and buying the breakfasts all in was the best decision we made. All in all this is a lovely little hotel which felt very safe and was comfortable, relaxed and friendly.
The property was affordable. The dining options should reflect more traditional foods.
Won’t be going back.
I am a fan of the Novotel at Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok so I had high hopes. This is among the most expensive hotels in Dakar yet the food service is cafeteria quality ..not up to restaurant standards ..and yet much more expensive than comparable hotels around Dakar. On arriving I was told my room included breakfast so I had the buffet. At checkout this was denied and they insisted I pay a very inflated price for the buffet I would not have taken if not for the statement of their employee. I complained vigorously but amazingly they would not own up to their own mistake. Do not waste you money at this old tired overpriced hotel with terrible service.
There was a high level event in Dakar this week. Hotel was fully booked by very demanding guests, leaving early and coming back after 8pm. Hotel team was up to the situation and even organise fine music in bar at pool area. Kudos to them!
I read complaints on forums, hotel is OK, maybe Dakar is not for you. Great metropolis in making.
