Did not meet our expectations
Pros:

The bedroom was lovely and the bed very comfy. The staff were friendly. The trip organised by the hotel to Udawalawe National Park was good.

Cons:

The Anodawa Boutique Villa seems to have changed its focus, as perceived via the photos and previous reviews, to an Ayurvedic Retreat. This was not what we were expecting. It meant that the other residents were on a special diet of pills and soups whilst we were looking forward to the lovely food as shown on the website. This made eating in the same dining room very uncomfortable (we were advised not to eat outside due to mosquitoes). The food we received was inedible and actually made one of our party ill for the rest of our trip to Sri Lanka. When we complained the manager suggested he would get another chef in but this did not either happen or improve our experience. There is no alternative restaurants in the area. Altogether a very disappointing stay and not as advertised.

Fabulous stay in beautiful and comfortable boutique hotel close to Tangalle.
Pros:

I booked this place at short notice in between stays arranged by my travel agent, but would have made it our base for 3 days in Tangalle area, if I had known about it earlier. It is a beautifully furnished former private home, a true boutique hotel. Everything was of the best. There is a large pool, with a shallow area for young children. It is set in extensive gardens, growing mainly cinnamon, coconut and pepper; the garden makes a pleasant walk, with the opportunity to admire many peacocks. The lunch we were served on arrival, the dinner and breakfast were all outstanding, well prepared and presented, generous and very reasonably priced. Beds are comfortable with bedside tables and reading lights. There are a number of outdoor areas to sit. Prabath and his colleagues were very attentive to our comfort and he was able to tell us the history of the house. I had an excellent massage from a therapist who is on call; I understand that the hotel is building an Ayurvedic centre on the grounds, and there is already a separate cabana which has been used for yoga sessions. It would be an excellent place for either a romantic escape or a yoga/spa/ meditation retreat. Highly recommended and full marks to Prabath’s management.

Cons:

Nothing

Beautiful property in stunning grounds.
Pros:

We were fortunate to have the whole place to ourselves.
The room we had was the largest we had in our 3 weeks in Sri Lanka and it was lovely to unwind in the living area and have dinner around the big dining table.
It’s a great place to relax as Tangalle is about 13km away but we got the local bus into Tangalle to visit the beach.
Prabath and his team really work hard to make your stay enjoyable.
The gardens and swimming pool are an oasis and a lovely place to chill out.

Cons:

Not a big one but the complimentary bike only had one gear working out of 21 so maybe needs a service 😊

Beautiful villa - would be perfect for a group.
Pros:

Lovely villa with beautiful bedrooms which we were lucky enough to have all to ourselves. Beautiful pool with good sun loungers and parasols. Attractive, well kept grounds.

Not a touristy area, so not many options for eating out but the breakfast was large & delicious so kept you going until dinner when the chef prepared a wonderful evening meal.

Prabath the Manager was lovely and very efficient.

Cons:

Sadly we had to eat inside as mosquitos were rife in the evenings (obviously not the villas fault - but worth noting).

We were advised on arrival that as we were the only guests they were working on a skeleton staff, which was absolutely fine but when the Manager wasn't there, service was slightly disjointed. Also, the room was not made up when we were there. Again not a huge issue but we had to ask for more toilet paper, clean coffee cups, etc. all of which were brought immediately but we feel in an accommodation of that standard it should be done automatically.

Beautiful Villa with Great Service
Pros:

The villa and surrounding grounds were lovely. There is a beautiful organic garden with paths to walk and lots of fruit trees. Every morning we were served fresh fruit juice with wonderful Sri Lankan or Western breakfast. We also ate dinner here almost every night with several different options that changed daily. The food was always delicious and the service from all the staff was excellent and attentive without being intrusive. The staff looked after booking us taxis and anything else we asked for. The suite we had was massive and had plenty of room with a lot of windows and doors that opened up into the beautiful gardens. We liked it so much we have booked another stay with them again. Thank you Prabath and the team for an amazing stay!

A peaceful paradise
Pros:

We absolutely love this place! The villa is stunningly beautiful and the service is top! The food, the concern for our children, just everything here is done lovingly and to a very high standard.
We had a huge suite that you would definitely not expect for such a low price!
We had asked prior if we could charge our EV, so they just installed a new power outlet for us!
Being able to propose and discuss what we would like to eat is so nice - and the food is delicious!
We will definitely come back!

Cons:

Nothing really - there's not much to do in the area but that's fine because it is so relaxing and peaceful to just stay in the villa and the garden.
Just the massage I booked in the spa wasn't the best, but that did not decrease the overall perfection of the place.

A relaxing, tropical paradise
Pros:

A gem of a place surrounded by beautiful gardens, offering us peace, relaxation & superb food all of a high quality. From the moment we arrived and were led into the tastefully decorated reception, dining area & offered a cooling coconut drink we found the attention to detail & service was exceptional especially from Prasanna who looked after us so well. Walking around the gardens, we admired the many fruit trees, their organic vegetable garden, and the lovely spa area was a haven of peace, where we enjoyed some Ayurvedic massages. The food choice was varied, excellent and always some delicious fruits for breakfast from their gardens like 'Soursap' It was a memorable visit.

(Nearby just outside Weeraketiya was the ancient Mulgirigala Raja Maha Temple, well worth the climb to see the sunset)

Cons:

Absolutely nothing it was superb!!!
