Location was perfect. Staff v helpful.
Staff are lovely, location is great for easy access to tourist spots. Breakfast was nice with a good range of continental breakfast items and a lovely cooked breakfast too.

Fantastic location lovely pub and restaurant attached to the rooms (or more accurately the rooms are attached to the bar restaurant) small room but very comfortable with everything you could need.
Stairs and lift are a bit tight and I’m
a small person and we only had overnight bags so just be aware the entryways are pokey
We stayed at The Counting House from 24 to 28 April (4 nights) and had the Angel room. It’s a lovely, spacious and very tidy room with a comfortable double bed. The bathroom was also large and well laid out, with a shower, sink and toilet. A small detail, but appreciated: plenty of hooks for towels and jackets.
The room had a fridge and a safe, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. We had no problem storing our clothes and suitcases — there was plenty of space.
From the moment we arrived, the staff were genuinely friendly and explained everything clearly. Housekeeping was excellent: the bed was made neatly every day and towels were replaced when we wanted them changed.
Breakfast is served in the pub on the ground floor. Again, a warm welcome and a really nice, generous breakfast in a great setting. The pub is also a great place for a drink and dinner — we ate there twice and enjoyed it both times.
The location is a big plus: right in the Bank district, close to St Paul’s Cathedral and very near the Underground. At night it was wonderfully quiet — we didn’t hear a thing and slept very well.
All in all, this hotel is absolutely worth recommending, and we’d happily stay here again.

Historic, good location, friendly
Room was nicely presented
It’s advertised as a hotel, so you would reasonably expect a certain standard of basic facilities, particularly given the price. Unfortunately, this was not our experience. We arrived on a Sunday to find there was nowhere to get even a simple coffee or snack, as the pub was closed, and there were no alternative options available on-site.
There was also no inviting lounge or communal area to relax in, which meant we were effectively confined to our room for the duration of our stay. To make matters worse, the room itself lacked any outlook, with the window facing directly onto a wall, making it feel quite closed in and unwelcoming.
We had booked for two people and were advised that the bar fridge would be stocked with items available for our use. In reality, it contained just a single can of water, which felt misleading and disappointing.
Overall, the property lacked any real atmosphere or sense of hospitality. The reception area in particular felt more like a basic hostel setup rather than a hotel, which did not align with how the property is presented or priced.

Really comfy bed, clean, delicious breakfast and the soundproofing from the pub is astonishing! Delicious pub food for evening meal as well.
