Nice hotel, not suitable for vegetarians
Pros:

The hotel itself is great. The room is well-equipped, the view is beautiful, and the hot tub on the balcony is amazing. There is plenty of parking and easy access to many points of interest in the area.

Cons:

- The reception staff is very robotic and indifferent, and does not speak a word of English. The entire check-in process was done using Google Translate, which was very frustrating. We spent 3 nights there and no one asked us how our stay was; we felt completely ignored during our stay, unlike other hotels in Japan.

- This is a hotel suited for half-board, but when we arrived they informed us that there are NO VEGETARIAN OPTIONS for any of the meals, so we stayed on a room-only basis. They didn't even try to help with that, except for one employee who eventually recommended a nearby place that serves vegetarian food.

- Keep in mind not to arrive without a car, as there is no pedestrian access out of the hotel.

Pros:

The private onsen were wonderful, all three of them. Dinner was included, and although not really italian, we enjoyed it a lot. Wonderful service. We even had free ice cream and free ramen.
Breakfast buffet with great options.0

Cons:

Hotel furniture is a little bit outdated, but it adds to its charm. Additional private onsen on the balcony.

Heerlijke onsen in een wat gedateerd complex. Erg goed ontbijt.
Pros:

De onsen is heerlijk, zowel een privé bad bij de kamer als de privé onsen op het terrein. Erg genoten van het mineraalrijke water.
Het ontbijt was echt heerlijk!

Cons:

De styling van het hotel en de kamers is wat gedateerd. Het restaurant kent maar 2 menu’s en kost 11.000 yen per persoon wat best aan de prijs is. Er zijn 2 shifts en je moet reserveren. Je kunt niet à la carte eten.

A beautiful calm oasis in an otherwise hectic Japanese schedule!
Pros:

This is an amazing hotel. The staff are fabulous, the onsen is large and not at all crowded. There are appetisers and late night ramen free of charge. We recommend the Japanese evening banquet - almost like a taster menu in the uk, but for us fussy eaters, it was a chance to try Japanese food which we would not otherwise have ordered. It takes about 2 hours (and definitely no space for the ramen afterwards!)
We stayed in a corner suite, which unexpectedly had two bedrooms - we weren’t sure from the details online. The fridge was full of drinks free of charge - just everything had been thought of. Getting to the hotel from the Kagoshima bullet train was easy, but to fully appreciate the area, we’d recommend hiring a car. We hired from Kagoshima airport as it was closer to the hotel, and the drive from there was easy.

Cons:

We do not eat meat, which we told the hotel well in advance. Our main course for dinner for two nights was pain bread. The hotel is an insult to Japanese hospitality

Great view, private onsen and nice breakfast
Pros:

Good size of room with great view of Sakurajima, great selection of breakfast, free ramen in the evening, lovely private onsen.

There is also an onsen at the balcony, however it wasn’t very clean, we had to give it a clean before using it.

Friendly and helpful staff, however you have to press the buzzer at the reception desk or you wait, even they can see you looking for help.

Cons:

We arrived with quite a few suitcases and stuff ….no one was helping us with the luggage or even offering to help which was quite disappointing.

There is no laundry service or facilities to use.

貸切風呂の存在がありがたかったです。

Cons:

食事の提供時間にかかる時間が短縮されたらいいかなと感じる。

フロントと食事の際、女性スタッフの対応に少し不親切というか、対応の悪さを感じた。

Jederzeit gerne wieder
Pros:

Super Lage, bei richtigem Zimmer tolle Aussicht (die Waldzimmer sind es nicht wert), toller Oasen, besonders auch die privaten Onsen, viel Angebot für Hundehalter, Frühstück reichhaltig, viele Optionen, aber sehr turbulent, Personal extrem freundlich, Englisch als Sprache praktisch nicht vorhanden, nur eine sehr freundliche Angestellte konnte gutes Englisch, der Rest praktisch gar nicht. Der Ort an sich ist , wie viele solche Orte in Japan fast tot. Wir waren ausserhalb der Saison, aber man sieht deutlich, dass viele Geschäfte, Häuser, Hotels leer stehen und teils verfallen. guter Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen im Gebiet.

Cons:

Wie überall in Japan liegen in den Saunen auf allen Bänken dicke Handtücher, Teppiche die alle nutzen. D.h., alle schwitzen in das gleiche Handtuch, wenig hygienisch, die bereitgestellten Sitzkissen werden wenig benutzt,
