One night stay for four in the centre of Laon

Das Hotel liegt zwar zentral, aber am Eingang einer runinös wirkenden Straße, die zudem unpassierbar ist, da vor offensichtlich langer Zeit ein Haus auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite gebrannt hat. Das Ganze wirkt wie eine provisorische Dauerlösung, von der aber nach der Buchung nichts kommuniziert wurde. Es wurde überhaupt kein Kontakt von Seiten des Hotels aufgenommen, um darüber zu informieren, dass man nicht vorfahren kann, sein Gepäck also irgendwie zu Fuß hinbugsieren muss. Der Eingangsbereich wirkt dunkel und unfreundlich. Das Zimmer war mehr als schlicht, spartanisch trifft es wohl eher. Einen Föhn bekam man nur auf Nachfrage. Im Bad war nicht eine einzige Steckdose vorhanden. Die Fenster haben nicht einmal einen dünnen Vorhangstoff. Insgesamt fehlt es an Steckdosen. Kein Bild an der Wand, nichts an Dekoration. Der Bezugsstoff des Sofas völlig fadenscheinig und zerrissen. Eine in die Wand eingelassenen Kleiderstange ersetzt den Schrank, im Bad keine Abstellmöglichkeit, nicht einmal Haken, um ein Handtuch aufzuhängen. Genau drei Kacheln, davon eine massiv beschädigt, befinden sich oberhalb des Waschbeckens. Die Dusche ist ein vorgefertigtes Plastikelement, dessen Türen sich wegen des unebenen Bodens nicht schließen lassen. Die Bodenmatte war sicher schon benutzt, lange, lockige Haaren klebten daran, die fanden sich auch an anderen Stellen im Bad. Im düsteren Frühstücksraum besteht die Zimmerdecke aus unabgedeckten asbesthaltigen Platten. Ich kann von der Unterkunft nur abraten; es gibt auch in der Altstadt Alternativen.

Un environnement calme, sans chichis mais avec du cachet
Pros:

Le cadre médiéval rustique mais avec beaucoup de cachet qui nous fait voyager dans l’histoire
L’accueil est agréable et avec le sourire
La chambre est propre, avec suffisamment d’espace et nous nous y sommes sentis très bien avec mon mari.

Pros:

Super staff. Quirky hotel which we chose on purpose, lovely old oak staircases. Very quiet stay. Excellent location for old town.
The hotel opposite is being renovated so the entrance to hotel looks cordoned off but there is a walk way down left hand side as you look from car park behind railings . This does not detract in any way from a lovely stay. There is no renovating so no noise

Cons:

Upstairs suite could do with dusting behind beds in difficult corners but it was a small thing
