Lava Lodge at Hale Kilauea

Very nice cabin for family. The treat basket was delicious with papaya, bananas, and danish. The 2 gallons of water were good for consumption. Catchment water was good for bathing and dish washing. Staff personnel are low stress with an easy process. We'll be back.

Quiet setting just 5 minutes from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

After the noise, craziness, and heat of Waikiki, this was a welcome relief. We were in Wolfie 3, one of 4 units nestled in the trees and the sounds of the Coqui frogs. The unit provides plenty of room for two with a separate bedroom, bath, and sitting room. A great location to be near the volcano. The local tap water isn't potable, but high quality bottled water is provided. A soothing spot. I'm bad at directions so had difficulty finding the check in place (beyond the hardware store) as well as the unit itself.

Was really secluded and quiet. Be aware that the water is not potable, but plenty of bottled water was provided.

The unit we stayed in didn't look anything like the photo displayed here. It was dark and very basic. We have stayed in several other Volcano rentals and this is not the best value. It was adequate for a place to sleep.

Our stay at Lava Lodge was great - clean, comfortable, pretty location. Would definitely come again.

Very quiet setting. We stayed in the Wolfie Suites, which were very clean and had a nice sitting room in addition to the bedroom. Very comfortable beds. There are no staff on the premises and you have to check in at a store which is a few minutes drive away. They prefer to know in advance exactly what time you expect to arrive for check in. Location only a mile from the park entrance was great.

Drinking water was provided because it wasn’t safe to drink the rain water.
But
The bottled water wasn’t sealed just refilled.
Very unhygienic.

Reminded me of a small cabin in Maine. Relaxed, convenient and safe.

Was charged “Ace Hardware” which messed up the credit card trying to claim the travel expense. Check in and out were in a convenient store and was contacted multiple times about exactly what time we will be there. The couch and bed were extremely uncomfortable and my husband could barely fit in the closet like shower.

It was a great value. Very clean and close to Volcanos National Park. Only thing I would suggest would be a new mattress on the ned and a microwave.

Everything about the property itself was great! Instructions were clear and the lodge was a nice set up with ambient views of the forest. Staff who checked us in and out were also welcoming and friendly. One thing that was concerning were the zionists flags in the nearby area, so safety was in question. Those flags symbolize the support and complacency of the ongoing genocide in Palestine. If the property owners and management don’t see it as a problem, I would not stay there again and let others know too.
