Great location for the town, plus parking nearby. Excellent breakfast and food
Rooms a little tired
Comfy bed, good nights sleeps. Parking and good WiFi with desk in the room. All staff friendly and welcoming.
Shower could have been more powerful.
The linen is exceptional
Was not told when booked about there been no staff and NO breakfast not even a breakfast tray for the room. On new years day
Nothing
Claimed to have parking, it may have, but for no more than a couple of small cars! Generally grubby and everything is worn out, broken and / or cheap. The curtains in my room were on the floor upon arrival, including the rail. Bathroom was not particularly clean. The evening staff were not friendly or welcoming.
Breakfast.
Creaky floors
only had breakfast. This was passable.
Could not use the car park as entrance not wide enough.
bed uncomfortable
The food was good. Freshly cooked breakfast. Comfortable bed in decent bedroom. Staff very friendly. Pet friendly.
The shower room was tight due to age of property and the power assistance required for the plumbing noisy. Unfortunately we had to eat in a side room due to an evening event alongside paint pots, stored chairs and outdoor signs.
Good breakfast
view over churchyard
car parking
Good evening meal
ample food on the plate for a reasonable price
Very uncomfortable bed.
After 10 minutes of running the tap, there was still no hot water for a shower.
Had the bedroom window open at night as it was a warm room but the through traffic started very early. With the church bells not my best stay over for business meetings.
Location and staff excellent
Needs updating. Mattress needs replacing and shower needs attention. Couldn’t regulate temperature.
Very very polite staff, easy check in.
I couldn’t get my truck into the car park at the rear - very tight entrance
Staff food ok and cheaper than most
No Blackout curtains in bedroom
More powerful shower needed
Cold food sometimes
Sticky tables which o hate
Amazing breakfasts. Good choice, very generous portions and very tasty. Gluten free options were available and the hotel were flexible in other food preferences too.
Carvery was good too.
Very dog friendly place. Our dog was very welcome and we felt very comfortable with bringing her down to bar area. Treats were available too. Electric charging points in car park opposite, and 5 mins drive away on A11 at the Shell petrol station.
I would have liked more vegetarian options instead of the carvery. Also, for some non carvery options to be available from the main menu on Sunday. Car parking was limited at the back of the hotel -entrance very narrow for a large vehicle, but that was because it had been an old coaching inn, so not really a negative as such. Best to park in the car park opposite which was free on Sundays, and overnights.
Location
Very noisy
Friendly staff extremely helpful. Property is a very old, charming and right in the centre of the town.
Food is fantastic from breakfast to dinner. All home cooked fresh on the premises. A special note for the steak & kidney pudding - outstanding needs be tried by everyone.
Rooms are comfortable and clean.
The pub has a lovely friendly vibe we noted all ages welcomed from babies in pushchairs to the very elderly.
Some parts are shabby and need attention. The landlord and family have recently taken over and are updating and decorating.
Extremely friendly, helpful and hard working staff, who promoted a happy festive atmosphere during our December stay.
The room was very basic. Cheap mattress which lacked filling, so slept on the coiled springs. Had very little sleep during my stay and suffered a bad back and painful achy hip. Same for my partner. Bathroom door didn't close, no radiator (freezing) no usual accessories that are standard eg a towel rail. Very disappointing.
Exceptional breakfast. Comfortable room and lovely atmosphere in the bar.
Just a tiny thing but the mattress was a bit hard for my old bones!
