Very nice new cabins. The grounds and paths are still under construction, with long walks on gravel, so they provide luggage delivery to the cabins. The only improvement I will suggest it to add hangars and a clothes hanging rod in the closet.
The cabins were unique & cosy.
The reindeer talk & feeding was excellent.
We were given 2 x single beds when 1 x large bed was requested.
Information surrounding the Ice Hotel was misleading, as only the temporary one existed.
The buildings and grounds were run down and unkept. I was uncomfortable with the welfare of the Huskies. The hotel electronic info stated that all accomodation included breakfast, but we were not provided with any.
I liked petting the dogs and feeding the rain deer.
I liked everything
We had a private tour from Martin , who explained all the small details perfectly and had a perfect sense of humour for our varied group.
The dogs were all very cute and cuddly, especially my favourite boy unna. He was lovely and got lots of belly scratches.
Snow Resort Kirkenes King Crab Safari is a wonderful RIB excursion, including a delicious meal of fresh King Crab legs. Boat Captains Dirk and Mats are brilliant storytellers, expert fishermen, and attentive guides. We highly recommend this fantastic company, with special thanks to Captains Dirk and Mats for providing us with this incredibly rewarding travel experience!
Location was not a problem with complimentary transfers from and to Kirkenes. Set up was different with Snow Hotel to sleep in and animals around. Staff very friendly. Food was good. Value for money compared to accommodation in Kirkenes thanks to meals and transfers being included. Very friendly Huskies!
Very quiet as only two other people staying in resort. Not many activities as snow had melted.
Flott rom. Artig at vi ikke fant toalettet først.
Det var langt å gå fra resepsjonen opp til hytta. Slitsomt å dra koffert langs grusvei.
Vi betalte et tillegg på 300kr per person for frokost, og den var ELENDIG! To egg, to ulike kjøttpålegg, en sort ost, syltetøy og tørr eggerøre. Utrolig dårlig.
We went in midsummer straight off the Hurtigruten. Had a lovely time, the main attraction was spending the night in an ice hotel. We were well prepared by the staff who talked us through the best way to get a good nights sleep despite the room being below freezing. The sleeping bag, balaclava and socks did the trick nicely.
Other aspects were also very good. Food - great. The Husky kennels were fun to wander through and the puppies gorgeous. I really did y think these dogs would be so well socialised and amiable. We took a little hike round the countryside behind the resort on a well marked, but occasionally boggy, trail.
Special mention to the friendly, helpful and efficient staff. Every single one we came in contact with helped enhance our stay.
The only grumble is that just like everywhere I went in Norway the coffee was poor with no decaf option.
An excellent and well run resort . Definitely recommended
I could see how the hotel was important to the local economy and how it would have been magical in the winter. The buildings and huskies were amazing.
The old snow hotel was left dripping and melting. It was a bit odd. The new snow hotel was even dripping inside! Maybe the resort should just shut for overnight guests in the summer and stay open for day visitors ? I would rather have stayed in the cabin than in the snow hotel but they said none were available which was strange since most appeared empty, with only a couple occupied out of 30 or so. The staff were in short supply and reminded us of faulty towers!
The King Crab excursion was part of the summer Snow Resort package so it worked out to be very good value. The RIB boat ride was fun, and we pulled up two pots to get the large enough crabs after a ride up the fjord. Then the eating part in the quaint little waterside ‘restaurant’ was the most delicious part of the experience. There were more than enough crab legs to eat and so very tasty.
