The exterior may be dated but the interiors appears to have been recently refurbished to a modern interior deco. Facilities (ski locker, washing machines, onsen) were good. Location is 5 mins from every slope, but best to rent a car - onsite parking is available.
Dinner feels repetitive, with at most 1-2 dish being varied every other day. Morning coffee could be stronger. For the half board price point, could do with some improvement.
No ensuite showers in the rooms; all communal showers. There’s also a public bath + onsen. As much as the showers / public baths are modern and very clean, might not appeal to some.
Location staff and onsen
Lack of vegetarian / vegan options at included meals
Beautifully maintained property, very clean and rooms were completely soundproof. The staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble and they happily shuttled us to all four ski fields and also to the hospital when needed. We had breakfast and dinner as part of our package and all meals were delicious.
Beds and pillows are hard, but unusual to not have our own private shower, but the onsen and shared showers were perfectly fine.
Very nice quiet hotel with a decent buffet breakfast and dinner. They surprised me with a birthday and cake and the hotel staff is very, very nice.
You are so far away from everything and the hotel shuttle will only take you to the ski resorts. It was impossible to get a ride to a restaurant or store. There was a pretty big language barrier, far greater than any other place we have stayed. Couldn't find a pillow I liked.
Breakfast was delicious Asian style buffet, they even offered Nanakusa Gayu (Seven Herb Rice Porridge) on 7th January! Sadly, my favourite dish, the onsen egg, was only offered every second day. The onsen was very relaxing after a day of skiing and almost always empty. Beautiful views from the restaurant in the mornings. Dinner is a buffet with local wine on offer. There is also a lounge/library which was a good spot to work when there was too much snow to ski, or have a drink in the evenings. Suite accomodation was very spacious. Beds were comfortable. All the staff were very polite and professional. The cleaners did an excellent job. The food and drinks at the cafe were tasty and reasonbaly priced.
Location is remote, but unlike Hakuba, there are no frequent local bus services during the ski season so the only option is the hotel shuttles which there were not enough of to take all the guest to the ski resorts at requested times. Also the hotel shuttles did not run in the evening and taxis are impossible to book so the only option to get to the nearby restaurants was an up to 30 minute walk on a major road in the dark. So if you stay here in winter book a hire car. The accomodation places in the area should talk to the local goverment about running regular busses from the hotels to ski resorts during the ski season like most other ski resorts in the world offer. Hotel only had one restaurant that had pretty much same buffet every night, which is ok for a couple of nights but boring after a while. Also the restaurant in the hotel was so much more expensive than the other local restaurants. We stayed in a suite, which was so large it could have easily had a small kitchenette which would make the place much better for longer stays, instead it just had two bar fridges which was not helpful. Bathroom was huge but only had one hook and one towel rail so towels had to be replaced every day which isn't good for sustainability and is just unnecessary cost waste for the hotel. For a room that fits 6 people it would be good to add more hooks and towel rails. The suite also only had three chairs and a small coffee table that made it hard to eat the cafe foor at. As the room had lots of space, it would be better to have a proper height table and as many chairs as guests.
Good location. Rooms are clean and tidy. Buffet breakfast was okay, it seemed like there was no top up if fruits ran out. Otherwise, it was average. There's a small cafe on the 1st level serving espresso drinks, hot meals like fried rice, toast, muffins and a few alcoholic drinks.
Upon booking we were not aware of the restrooms being shared. There's 2 showers upstairs shared amongst guests. The onsen at the basement however has shower and onsen facilities which can get crowded at peak times. Unsure if there was some chlorine in the water, but it did smell like it. It wasn't overpowering, but good to know for those who would rather pure onsen water.
Amazing facilities especially the onsen
Nothing
The Lime Resort was exceptional on all levels.
All the staff were amazing and so helpful. The rooms are large and very comfortable and stylish.
The service and amenities were a 10/10!
Highly recommend!
There was nothing to not like
Half board was so convenient after a day of skiing and the dinner options were thoughtfully put together
Location ….shuttle provided but still abit off the grid without own transport. Could consider more frequent shuttle schedule for guest without own transport
