Downtown Memphis
Pros:

As one of the Historic Hotels in America, it was as expected - very clean and well maintained, very friendly staff. The rooms were spacious, but the bathroom was tiny. The additional fees at checkout were shocking - almost 30% higher than the rack rate. Downtown Memphis is very run down.

It was a once in a lifetime experience.
Pros:

It is a magnificent building that has been meticulously maintained and has the unique duck walk and the beautiful carved fountain.

Cons:

My room was lovely but the bathroom was so small I barely fit in it and I am a small person. A person of any size couldn't shut the door or get into the shower easily.

Meh. No need to ever stay here again.
Pros:

The lobby and the ducks; the ducks in the lobby, were the best part of the hotel. That and the friendly staff.

Cons:

We upgraded to a “deluxe“ room. I would have hated to see what a “regular“ room looked like.
The bathroom was minuscule, with the toilet being wedged, and I mean, wedged between a wall and a sink. A large person would not have been able to use it. There was no counter space in the bathroom. The comforter on the bed was filthy and stained as was some of the upholstered furniture. The remote for the TV was barely functional. The air conditioning temperature could not be adjusted. The sink faucet in the bathroom was loose and wobbly. Our room was not cleaned until we tracked down a housekeeping, worker, and with Google translate specifically requested that it be “cleaned”.
Good points – lots of closet space.
Friendly staff.

Beautiful, classy hotel that for us made staying in Memphis very special
Pros:

Staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel is beautiful and we loved the Duckmaster. The hotel made our stay as Memphis was quiet that week. Really enjoyed drinking at the bar and in the lobby, nice atmosphere.

Cons:

Pricey and might have expected a bit more for the money (e.g. breakfast).

Slightly overpriced and living off a past grandure.
Pros:

The Peabody is famous for its duck and thats what your paying for. Spacious rooms with everything you need. Attentive and well informed staff. Good location with a couple of attractions within walking distance.

Cons:

The hotel is living off its reputation a bit as its getting a bit "tired". Valet parking is VERY expensive.

Red Carpet Quackers
Pros:

Was in Memphis to start a Viking Mississippi River cruise and walked the approx. four blocks from the Westin to the downtown Peabody Hotel to see the five ducks (one mallard male and four hens) splash around in the lobby fountain then make their extended exit performance on a red carpet into the elevator and up to their rooftop suite. The red-coated human Duckmaster is Master of Ceremonies. Ducks arrive around 11:00 AM and march out around 5:00 PM daily.
The water area is small, but the fountain features an enormous white Grecian urn topped by masses of flowers making the ducks look even smaller. You can enjoy a meal at one of the surrounding tables there or view the scene from the mezzanine level. The show is popular with parents and their children who get to participate in the ‘duck walk’ carpet rollout as mom and dad sit on the floor with smartphones recording. Obviously, a great public relations move by the Peabody Hotel over the years. There is a lobby gift shop selling duck stuff. There are yellow ducky footprints on the sidewalk outside the hotel and little yellow ducks painted on the bottom of the windows. You can’t miss it.

The location and hotel were beautiful

The bathroom in our room was so small you could not use the toilet properly. We opted to use the lobby restroom when we were leaving or coming back to the room.
