Disappointing stay / did not meet our expectations
Pros:

My husband and I recently stayed at Savoia Excelsior Palace. We were disappointed with our stay. Prior to making our reservatin, I had read reviews that mentioned "recent updates." This was not our experience. Our room was quite dated, and the carpet was stained in several places. We did mention this to the staff when we checked out, but it didn't seem to be a big deal to them. The breakfast was very good with lots of options. The location was very convenient - about a 15 minute walk to the train station and main bus station and key Trieste sights. Very close to the Canova District, which we really enjoyed.

Pros:

La posizione è fantastica. Gli interni molto curati.

Cons:

La Moquette in camera è un vero peccato. L’aria condizionata in camera era gelida. E ogni volta che lasciavamo la camera al nostro rientro era di nuovo attiva.

Best hotel in town.
Pros:

This is the best Hotel in Trieste. My suite was recently renovated with elegance and good taste. Sea view. Few rooms/suites in my corridor. Very calm. The perfect place to stay when visiting Trieste.

An elegant classic in the heart of Trieste.
Pros:

Location, elegant historical setting, ample room, helpful staff, abundant breakfast.

Cons:

Two out of three elevators were out of service during our stay.
The bathtub surface is very slippery…a bath mat needs to be available in the room.
No glass ware was provided in the room beyond two tumblers in the bathroom. Most hotels of this stature have a pair each of still wine and Champagne glasses in the room for their guests to utilize.

Fabulous hotel in a great location.
Pros:

Very comfortable room with great sea view from the balcony. Location couldn’t be better! Very helpful and friendly staff.

Cons:

Request for a ‘voluntary’ 5% tip on checkout somehow took from the whole experience.
