Great hotel for the price! The views and hiking are great! Staff is very friendly. Room is always clean and very nice hot water! We love to get away here for a quick overnight to hike and swim at a pool.
The good: the lake is beautiful and the exterior is well maintained. The bad: The property is dark and dated. It could use a little refresh. But for a hotel in a park, it’s not too unexpected. However, it also could have been cleaner and my first room had a rattling AC and a broken lock. That’s just poor maintenance. The ugly: there’s NO INTERNET SERVICE! I intended to relax and work during my stay. But I couldn’t use my phone let alone work. You can’t even make call unless you stand completely still in one spot. I had to leave. If you want to be off grid, you’ll be fine here. But if you want to use your phone or computer in any capacity, it’s not a good choice.
Stay was nice. Room could have been cleaner especially the floors. Disappointed there was wifi connection but no Internet.
The views are amazing.
Beware staying in the off-season! This place is isolated (beautiful, but in a park) and there is nowhere to eat nearby - and the restaurant is only open on weekends in October, which is when I went.
Also, the cleanliness was iffy - there were hairs in the sink and tub and inside a folded towel.
There is absolutely zero internet.
Arrived later than planned so we didn’t take in the beauty of the area until early morning. Hoping to come back to spend more time.
.
Llake view was good but i had a view if the parking lot lmao
The lake view and the grounds were beautiful. The hotel is dated but spacious and the indoor pool nice. Room would have been comfortable had it been clean, and the air conditioner working. When we realized the air was not working, we asked for a fan but they did not have one available. We tried to buy one at walmart but there were none in stock. Staff was pleasant at check in but didnt make any attempt to change rooms or to fix the air conditioner. We were going to open the window at night, (which we found unsecured and unlocked) but there was no screen to keep out bugs. The room had water bottles under the bed and bits of trash. The floors had not been vacuumed, or atleast not very well. The beds were comfy, sheets clean, and the pillows were fluffy, but we had a hard time sleeping due to the heat. The bathroom was clean. There were cobwebs behind the curtains and mold in the mini fridge. Overall, we would come back here becuase the grounds are so nice, but would want to inspect the room before accepting it. The play ground is really nice and there is alot of places to fish from shore if you dont have a boat. The beaches are nice and the boat ramps are all well maintained and clean. We were able to sit and watch birds and ducks & see trout jump. We got to see lots of deer at night as well. The lake was beautiful surrounded by touch of fall. Outdated is ok if its CLEAN and air-conditioning is working.
I really am sorry to share my experience, but I hope it might encourage whoever owns this hotel to bring it up to date.
My husband and I stayed in room 221 which is a lakefront room. We paid well over $400 for a Friday and Saturday night stay. All of the staff at the front desk and in the bar were really wonderful.
Unfortunately, our room was road hard and put away wet.
It was super dated and smelled musty. There was probably an 1/8 inch of dust next to and behind the TV and also on the lid to the ice bucket, which was dirty inside.
The chair at the desk was so stained. I put a towel on it to sit. My husband and I both got up in the middle of the night, to reattach the sheets to the respective corners of our bed.
The carpet was badly stained in many places.
The last time I stayed here was probably 25 years ago and it was lovely but it’s definitely showing it’s wear and tear.
Also, the breakfast buffet that they serve on the weekends was inedible. It was $15 a person and a lovely employee talked to the front desk and asked that it be taken off our bill which it was.
I guess I could sum up by saying that this once gorgeous gem has lost most of its luster. It was sad and I will be the first one to stay there once there is a renovation, but not before that.
Found a dirty diaper under bed
Clean room
Very friendly staff, clean and beautiful location. Only complaint, wifi was virtually non-existent and cell service limited.
When we got there, the place was overtaken by a college football team. We had to park in employee parking and hoof it back to the lobby. We were then told that check-in had been moved back to 10 pm to accomodate the team, then we were told that actually our reservation had been cancelled that morning and we should have gotten an email (we did not.) Absolutely do not recommend as they prioritize big bookings over everyone else.
The places is an awesome vaca spot
Property is pretty ran down. Everything pretty much needs an update.
I thought the room was clean and beds comfortable. The front desk didn’t activate our room keys and in Room 329 long walk back. The restaurant was expensive and not worth it. The Bang, Bang shrimp was 13.99 for 8 little shrimp on a bed of lettuce. Someone else’s wings not done. The pretzel appetizer and pizza good. Service was slow.
if you like big boats and noise this is the place for you. Not our cup-of-tea, unfortunately.
Been here many times and it just keeps going downhill from it's peak in the 80's. Absolute dump. Rooms are damp, musty and crusty. Pool is great if you like oily water with hair everywhere. I question the hygiene and home life of the people who give this place a positive review. The only positive is that I have mostly lost my sense of smell so I didn't get to enjoy the aroma of what my co-travelers called a mix of dirty gym socks and wet dog that permeated the air. They have the benefit of being the only hotel around so management doesn't have to care and it shows. No shade to the staff I would be in a bad mood too if I worked for that ownership group. Marina staff is very nice and accommodating however that's the only positive.
Pool area needs more cleaning,
Otherwise everything is good.
I highly recommend to stay in hotel.
