The reception staff were honest in that the hotel doesn’t see a lot of tourists because “Palmy” is not a tourist hotspot.
It’s a large spacious hotel with decent amount of parking & good security.
Our room was pretty high up with good views across the city -
We had a good sized room, with TV, safe & fridge. The bathroom was a good size with complementary toiletries & a decent shower.
The bed was comfortable & we slept well, which is an important thing to us whilst on a road trip moving every couple of days.
A couple of niggles which I raised with the hotel on checking out - they didn’t seem bothered - the TV was turned off at the wall behind the TV & fridge wasn’t working at all (we couldn’t get to that switch) so housekeeping hadn’t checked appliances were working before we stayed there. The furniture opposite the bed was heavily water damaged like there had been a flood or something.
We always stay here the location
Room 310... we have sadly had the worse bed ..it sunk in the middle and this must be our 12th night staying all up here so disappointed these 2 nights were uncomfortable and we also have Late check out each level of genius abd unless we ASK we dont get it :( we also paid more than normal for the worse room and bed in the hotel ... sad to have a lower experience

Nothing wrong with hotel, but North Palmerston was a bit of a dormitory town.

Really enjoyed my stay at Copthorne and even extended for an extra night. The room was clean, modern, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The location is excellent — central and within easy walking distance to everything you need.
The staff were friendly, helpful, and accommodating, which made the experience even better. I’m already looking at rebooking for future dates as I genuinely enjoyed my stay and the convenience of having everything so close by.
The only minor downside was being able to hear some noise from other guests in the hallway at times. It didn’t take away from the overall stay, but a bit more soundproofing would make it even better.

we had a super king bed, that was very comfortable.
it also had a heat pump and cooling if needed.
Maybe a net curtain over the huge window so can see out and people can’t see in. And then don’t need the light on and curtains closed.
Maybe some bowls and plates to put snacks on.
Excellent accommodation. Rooms were spacious, clean, beds were comfortable and we had all that we required for our short stay. Reception staff were lovely and made our check in an easy process. Thank you Copthorne Hotel Palmerston North. Bowls Taranaki Women's team.
