We booked this for a one night stay, arriving at 11:00 pm for check-in and leaving the next morning. We know this is a safe area and chose it based on location. When we got to our room, the toilet was running and probably had been for hours at that point. It was also leaking on the floor. We used towels to soak up the water. Considering how late it was, we assumed maintenance wouldn't be available and we just wanted to sleep. Next day we saw how dirty the shower was, and the shower rod was held up by a folded up box, wedged between the road and busted shower wall.
Our TV would never turn on, and my husband had to use force to bolt the door when we went to bed.
The breakfast was awful. When we arrived to eat at 8:00 am, the egg tray was empty, the sausage was undercooked, the pancake machine was broken, and the apples looked old. We wound up buying breakfast elsewhere.
The toilet issue didn't bother me, because those things happen, but mixed with everything else, I was very disappointed with the whole 11 hours I was there. It was too much money for what we saw.
I like to stay at Elim wood
Hotel whenever i have biz trip. Its peaceful and clean.
We got in very late, after 11pm, with two tired little children after a 10-hour drive. While the power outage that caused their system to go out earlier that morning was not necessarily the hotel’s fault, they did NOT handle it well. They were very unprofessional and extremely disorganized. They told us they didn’t think they had a room for us, and the only thing they were willing to do was refund the money for the room we wouldn’t be using to go find somewhere else in the middle of the night! I begged them not send us out into the cold, rainy night but now I wish I would’ve just gone. After a lot of trial and error, which involved following the front desk associate to multiple floors, dragging our luggage and tired children, just to check several rooms that hadn’t been cleaned or were under renovation… they finally found us a room. This room, however, should have been on the list of rooms that were uninhabitable. The bed was literally broken! My husband ended up abandoning ship after we spent half the night rolling to the middle on top of each other. It was awful! The manager was fine to work with I guess and did end up refunding us for the night spent on the broken bed. The rest of the hotel was also in desperate need of upgrades. The elevator literally took 5 minutes EVERY time it was called. And it was so scary to be on, shaking and opening or closing when it shouldn’t be. The breakfast was a joke. The waffle maker was broken, of course, so there were literally 3 items to include: scrambled eggs, biscuits, and cold cereal. If all the stars hadn’t aligned for one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had in a while, I’m not sure based on the rest of the hotel, amenities, and staff that it would have been much better.
I stayed here for one night before an early morning flight. I was traveling with my child and really appreciated that the room was completely free of any smoke smell — the fresh, clean air made us feel comfortable right away. The amenities were pretty standard, but I was pleasantly surprised by the luxurious scent of the soap, which added a nice touch. The room was also more spacious than I expected, which made our short stay very comfortable.
Although breakfast was included, we had to leave for the airport before dawn, so unfortunately we couldn’t try it. The dining area looked bright and spacious, though, and seemed like a lovely place to enjoy a meal without feeling crowded. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay and would happily come back again.
Arrived at the Elimwood hotel on 10/17 around 8:30 local time in St. Louis, after driving 4.5 hours from Indiana. Was advised at the counter they did not have any rooms for anyone that evening trying to check in. The hotel did not even bother to call or email us letting us know that their rooms were not available ahead of time. I was also told the only option was to cancel the trip and we would have to go find a hotel somewhere else. Offering no help or assistance as to whether there was another hotel in the area. It was the tail end of our fall break and there were not hotels available in the St. Louis area in an affordable price range. As a Travel + Leisure employee, this is not how we are trained to take care of our guests. There was another gentleman in there who was also told they had no room for their 15 students they had traveled with. They also did not receive a phone call or an email which would have allowed them to plan ahead of time. Needless to say I believe this hotel should not be part of the T+L brand!
Do not stay here—or at any Wyndham property, for that matter—as they clearly do not value their customers.
We had reservations for 10/17–10/19. After driving 14 hours, we arrived at 10 p.m. on 10/17 only to be told there was no room for us due to a power outage. I understand that things happen, but what I don’t understand is why I never received a phone call, voicemail, text, or email.
When I asked about this, the front desk clerk simply said, “Someone should have called.” That was the extent of the help offered. Since I booked directly through Wyndham, this was a Wyndham issue. At the very least, you would expect the staff to offer assistance in finding another hotel, but she couldn’t be bothered. Thankfully, the hotel across the street was far more helpful and accommodating.
I especially felt bad for the busload of students who were in an even worse situation. Finding that many rooms at the last minute is nearly impossible.
Wyndham has lost my business for good.
I stayed here recently, and honestly, it was just okay. The hotel’s in a pretty quiet spot (mostly business parks and a gas station nearby). Not much you can walk to, but if you drive 10 or 15 minutes, there’s food, shopping, and even a couple casinos.
The place was clean enough, but you can tell it’s older. The front doors sounded like they were ready to fall off the tracks, and the elevator creaked like it hadn’t been serviced in a while. It was so slow I ended up taking the stairs, and I was on the fifth floor.
The room itself wasn’t bad but could use some love. Lighting was dim, the faucet dripped, and the furniture had seen better days. The TV kept cutting in and out, which got annoying when I was trying to wind down. The desk and chair were so beat up they made working uncomfortable; I ended up sitting on the bed instead.
Still, it was quiet at night, and the shower was hot when I needed it, so I’ll give them credit for that. It did the job for a short stay, but this place could really use some updates and maintenance.
Clean nice room, staff was all very friendly & helpful, exceptionally so.
I stayed at Elimwood recently and was pleasantly surprised by how much it has improved. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff are genuinely kind and helpful. The location is perfect — close to the airport but still quiet and relaxing. You can tell the management is working hard to make this place better every day. I’m looking forward to seeing how it continues to grow. Definitely a good value for the price!
Clean and the staff was helpful
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful
Check in staff was super friendly! Room was clean! Quiet!!
Enjoyed my very brief stay. Thank you for your kind service!
Nice rooms and friendly and helpful staff, especially Manager Abby!!
I requested for an early checkin calling the hotel before the booking and the request was accepted!!
Room was VERY musty smelling but we were too tired to try to go through the process of switching rooms. Room was also old and worn. We expect this if we are paying for a lower quality hotel.
Lobby, breakfast, and outdoor seating area were excellent.
Staff (both front desk and concierge) were efficient and friendly, check-in was seamless, location was near Oktoberfest and concert.
Overall, if we were paying significantly less, we would stay here but not worth the extra if upgrading for room quality.
Shower was nasty, vent in bathrrom was so dirty it didn't work, breakfast was incredibly limited
Mice in the rooms and hair on the beds and in the tub
There was no trash can in our room when we got there and the pancake maker was broken.
Staff was friendly and room was ok
The walk to the amphitheater and STL music park was very easy and convenient
I love the shuttle service to the amphitheatre!
