JEN Penang Georgetown by Shangri-La

I stayed here on a solo trip and had it was perfect price point for what I was looking for. Relatively walkable to many restaurants and to the mall right next door. I felt safe, it was clean, and I didn’t have any issues with noise. Comfortable and nice vibe. Seems to cater to the Chinese market as a brand.

Location is great and you are close to the old part of town which is at a walkable distance. The rooms were of a moderate size and they were comfortable and convenient. This hotel is right next to a mall. The staff are polite and engage freely and that made us feel welcome. The cafe gets crowded during breakfast and it serves delicious food. Surely a good choice

First time staying at this hotel (Usually stay in Bayan Lepas area) decent setup, located at the busy GerogeTown.

The hotel is absolutely centrally located. You may walk to the surrounding eateries like Nasi Kandar Restaurant, also walking distance to chowrasta market. The staff id very pleasant ie Azim who is our housekeeper staff. However the hotel looks dated and would benefit from new touch-up. On our check put day, the manager on duty, Ashraf helped us with the process we are impressed. Great Hotel to stay near Komtar.

A very pleasant experience and top-notch service by staff at the check-in counters, Cafe Jen (breakfast lounge) and housekeeping. I would like to commend Noyon, the room attendant who attended to all our needs including providing a high chair and baby cot for my baby. He made our room clean each day, provided extra bottles of water as requested and gave a special gift during our stay. The room could be pitch dark for comfortable sleep, even for my baby’s afternoon naps.

The hotel was lovely but a little bit more out of the old town that I thought it would be. The rooms were lovely and clean and the highlight was the breakfast - there was so much choice on offer and the team were lead by A.Subbiah who would bring us the local dish of the day being offered for us to try as well as other local delicacies. They were very friendly as truly added to the experience.

I have stayed at the Jen Penang Hotel and had a wonderful experience. The staff was very friendly , helpful and accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable, and the hotel’s central location in Georgetown was perfect for exploring the area, restaurants, and shops. Overall, it was a great stay, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Penang.

The property boasts a prime central location, within walking distance of several popular Penang attractions—including Armenian Street—and is conveniently situated right next to Komtar. The staff are exceptionally attentive and friendly, contributing to a warm and welcoming experience. The premises are well-maintained and spotlessly clean, reflecting a high standard of care.
While the Peranakan-themed décor adds cultural character, I personally found it a bit overwhelming and somewhat dated. A more modern design approach could create a fresher, more inviting ambiance. That said, my overall stay was pleasant, and I would happily recommend this property to friends and family visiting Penang.

Clean room, staff Mr Ramly at the reception area was very welcoming and helpful in providing assistance and advise. Hotel is conveniently located at the city area.

2 big standouts: Subbiah and his Team 2622622 in morning buffet breakfast over 3 consistent breakfast days took care of breakfast like it was his own hospitable establishment. Professional caring very hard working, gracious, 100% on the ball, make the whole experience top class. The food the drinks everything was crazy awesome. Kudos to this man and the team that brands this Shangrilla establishment.
2nd highlight was the reception manager on that day Keven who helped us on check in to help us with even our expedia booking converting our stay for 3 people to 2 people as my 80 yo mother in law got sick couldn't come and came up with using his discretion to throw in breakfast with Subbiah's team.
we will come back to Jen hotel again when we come back to Penang and hope to see Subbiah again.
By the way, subbiah never approached us, we approached him to tell him how good we thought he was and wanted to know how to provide a review.

Clean cosy room and very convenient location close to all the food!

This property is conveniently located within a 15 minute walk to Georgetown and close to 3 shopping malls.
The rooms are well appointed with good lighting small desk, very comfortable bed, great pillows, good bathroom amenities.
For female travellers there's no magnifying mirror so bring you own. Amenities include miniature tubes of Colgate - always welcome!
The staff are very helpful, big thanks to housekeeping Noyon and porter Riza.
