Beautiful hotel in beautiful grounds very central
Spider webs on bedroom wall and window
The breakfast was excellent, the location was excellent. The staff were really helpful.
The mattress was very hard,
The staff were welcoming and happy to quickly respond to my queries. The venue was nice, although it is in need or lots of refurbishment.
Upon arrival our room has a nasty brown stain on the roof of the room and the room had an infestation of lady birds. We were moved to the only other room thay was available, where the curtains had fallen off the wall and there was a strong smell of cannabis in the corridor
Location
Uncomfortable bed, shower not working properly, breakfast not cooked well, room average
The building was in good condition for the age an amazing mix of old and new buildings was good
The breakfast was poor and the hot water was not available on the evening, alternative room given to shower
Good breakfast, but kitchen closed two evenings due to a party and not open on Sunday.
We were not informed of this when we booked.
Location is excellent.parking is easy.
I’ve never written a bad review, but this stay was disappointing. Bedroom was way too small. Left side curtain wasn’t attached properly to hooks which made closing hard, didn’t want to pull curtain rail down, so left it open which caused outside lights to shine in all night.
Bedside lamp fitting was broken and so lampshade was wonky and loose. Hard to reach the on/off button which was buried low behind the bed. Although being told to run the hot water tap for awhile, bcoz it’s an old building the water that came through for the evening shower was barely lukewarm , the morning temp was only slightly better. Only one bottle of 20ml shampoo and shower gel for 2 people isn’t enough. The final straw was the cooked breakfast tasted awful. Only ate the tinned mushrooms because I was hungry, Powdered scrambled eggs, not real eggs unlike the fried version.there was plenty of it, just couldn’t eat it. The warm croissant was nice thou.
The table behind also mentioned the breakfast and they also gave up on showering because of the water temperature
I’m sorry to say, I wouldn’t stay here again.
Originally planned for Valentine's Day - eating at the restaurant & staying overnight, we had to reschedule for the end of February. David was so helpful during the initial booking, rescheduling and during our stay. As I am vegan, David & the chef made sure that I had the same delicious experience as anyone else. We were given a room in the old building which we loved - the Priory is such a lovely, historic place to stay.
All in all, it was just what we wanted in all respects - personnel, food, comfort, cleanliness etc.
Thank you
Great location and lovely staff!
A bit tired but didn’t detract from a nice stay
coffee machine was broken, but the waitress was lovely
I paid additionally for a deluxe room with a garden view with 54m2
our room was looking at the car park and tiny
Constant noise in the room and a bright green light that shines all night in the room.
I normally have the windows open but feel unsafe to keep the window open all night.
Worst night sleep I’ve ever had.
The bathroom needs a deep clean. In fact, the whole room needs a good cleaning.
Great central location and includes parking.
Rooms have not been updated since the 70’s.
I stayed in the annex which is completely separate from the main building. I was made aware that this was where I'd be staying when booking so it didnt come as a suprise. My room although basic was tastefully decorated and clean. I received a warm welcome on my arrival from the receptionist and found all the staff to be helpful, polite and friendly.
WE only had a continental breakfast as the waiter was not in the dining room when we arrived and when he did it was too late to order as we needed to leave. There was no nobody on the desk when we arrived it appeared that there was only two member of staff to run the whole hotel thus there were large gaps in the service. Our bed had a five foot mattress on a four foot six bed base. there were no glasses in the bathroom for cleaning teeth etc. The room was cold due to faulty boiler but this was corrected.
