The historic atmosphere and the proximity to the centre of the town.
In my room the curtains had come off the track and I could not close them properly to block out the light. The heating was turned off but the small heater they put in the room only worked for the first night and as the weather was cold this was not good. I have never in my life experienced such a small shower which I only just fitted into. I am a size 12 so anyone larger would have experienced extreme difficulty. The water was also lukewarm.
Great breakfast. Friendly staff
Safety in bath tub. Difficult for older person. Lacking phone for safety concerns
Lovely hotel.
Poor, breakfast was due to start at 8am, they had an issue with the kitchen so on arrival for breakfast had to wait a further 40 mins for hot food and then an extra 10 for hash browns, then as i was finishing up he came out with pastries almost an hour at 9am, poor choice of fresh fruit just not very appealing minimal stuff out, cheap jams and only 4 choices of cereal, fresh tea from a pot would have been nice but if was a coffee machine, no apple juice. Fresh bread would have also been a good idea because sliced brown and white was all that was on offer
Breakfast, bathroom with a bath but no bath plug and staff could not find one for me even though i specifically rang before hand asking for a room with a bath. long hairs on bath wall and around soap dish, no toilet brush, heating was on full power in the bathroom all night and we could not open the windows had to prop them up with our water bottles which meant we could nt drink out of them
Breakfast was late but it was very good
The room could be more spacious and in the new part of the hotel
Good location, breakfast was OK, location of our dining table was good, staff very good.
Bed was too hard for my liking. Would have been nice to have an overhead shower in the bath, couldn't open a window for fresh air.
The staff were beyond lovely and kind. And the building is stunning!
Maybe the bring lights that shone outside. But the curtains were thick enough that it wasnt awful.
Very nice breakfast, very nice evening meal, staff very helpful & interested in reason for our visit. Chef produced excellent seabream fish dish, came and chatted to us & interesting link. Nice grounds, quiet location. Close to shops & town centre. Nice room, comfortable bed.
WiFi sat nav nightmare directions with road resurfacing when we arrived & very stressful! Shower a bit of a challenge due to my mobility vulnerable adult health condition.
Very beautiful and interesting historic building
Lovely setting and building a short walk into centre . Large open grounds all staff we met were really friendly .The building is lovely with lots of history .
Car park being a short walk out of sight in a wooded area looked untidy and could do with a litter pick .Parts of building were looking tired with gaffa tape covering holes in carpet in corridors . Main issue was size of shower cubicle that was very small .I am average size and nearly every time i turned around around in it i accidently turned shower off . A person of larger size would probably struggle to get in it .
Beautiful building, car parking for disabled, helpful staff, position in town,
Limited choice for breakfast, no fried eggs or healthy cereal, no marmalade, room was dingy, stains on ceiling, no plug on sink , lack of plug sockets, paid £94 .. not value for money,
Very friendly staff who were very accommodating, beautiful country groinds to the back and 2 fhe front a lovley hitoric market town so you get the best of both worlds. Speacial thank you to David.
I didn't realise it was Heritage England site! Parrs of it has original stone walls giving it so much character. Gorgeous old features.
Great selection of drinks and a good variety on the menu too
Car park is a bit ropey and the room was a little cool.
Not a lot!
Last stayed here in 2019, this visit was extremely disappointing, the hotel is tired and uncared for. Yes it was cheap, but now I know why! It wasn't good.
Even the car park is overgrown and a mess, which unfortunately represented the overall experience.
I won't be returning.
The reasonably secure car park for a motorbike. The location for Hitchin centre is excellent. Nice historical building. The reception staff were very helpful.
The shower cubicle was a tiny triangle. The shower head holder was loose. The shower pressure was poor.
