This small, family-run gasthof is located within 2 minutes from the A3 highway. We had a very good offer just a day before our travel, and upon arrival we received a friendly greeting and were directed to the brand new room. Indeed, the room was still unfinished (I mean it was still under construction, desperately needing some brick-work, wooden panelling and covers, also wires were hanging freely and the door-frames were miles apart from the walls), but it served the basic purpose. At least we thought. Unfortunately, the brand new beds were simply terrible, every small move resulted in huge noise of the wooden structure. Besides the beds, the room had a brand new cupboard (without cloth-hangers), two chairs and a small TV standing on a small table.
Despite all of this, both the room and the (rather empty) bathroom were very clean - to mention some positive features. Also, the Italian cousine offered by the friendly owners was delicious and good sized, and on very favourable prizes, so we were satisfied with the dinner.
However, we were not amazed by the breakfast, as we have seen much better selection and quality in other landhotels in Bavaria within the same rating.
You can only pay in cash, as no credit cards were accepted. Also, there is no Internet nor Wi-Fi available. Parking places are available free of charge right by the hotel.
The efforts of the host family to provide good hospitality and service should not go unnoticed, however, this is not enough and what you get is rather strange mix of friendly approach and service on one hand, and a poor, no-frills experience on the other hand. I am sorry to say but the hotel provides quite a low quality products in general, compared to similar establishments in the area.
Driving from Frankfurt airport, I arrived at this small hotel late (after 10 pm) using a GPS and a rental car. The hotel was closed, all the lights were off and a sign in the window gave a phone number. expedia reservation in hand, I contemplated sleeping in the rental car. I drove back to a 24 hour gas station and motioned to the clerk that I wanted to make a phone call. (I had no cell phone and I speak rudimentary German. The request was so bizarre that she dialed and handed me the phone. Hessdorf is a small place.)
Well, long story not-so-short, the hotel clerk answered the phone, happily explained to me in English return to the hotel where he opened the door. And then, before showing me up the stairs to a small, clean room, he suggested a glass of wine from the bar. He poured it, added a bottle of water.
Because of a lot of snow he had to leave the motorway at 00.30 (night). We went to Zur Linde en they opend for us! Although we din`t reservate!!
We were with two families (8 persons). Exccellent breakfast. We will like to come a next time.
