A pleasant experience well worth the money.
Pros:

The distance from city centre is near perfect, living in center of Aberdeen without living in a busy street - either with traffic or bars. The Copthorne is proper hotel with manned reception and well trained staff - except the ones obviously under training :-) The staff is open, positive and solution oriented. They strike us as professionals, not just someone picked up from the streets to have a paying job in the weekend. They are hard working, pro active and a positive thing for the guests is that we meet the same staff every day during the stay. It may not be optimal for the staff though, so we hope it's an arrangement of their own choosing!? The breakfast is well prepared, but doesn´t get 10 out of 10 because of the tasteless marmelade and jams. Thumbs up for the eggs made to order! The hotel is quiet in it self, not many sounds from other guests except squeaking of the floor boards in the room above. We were "warned" about a party at the premises Saturday, but never heard anything party like - except the faint music. But even that stopped before midnight. Maybe the Scots doesn´t know how to party properly :-) The only thing we noticed from the party was well dressed people in the reception area, and that is another positive thing: that the hotel have a pulse. Been to enough hotels where the lights in the reception area turns off automatically when there is no movement, because there are no activities other than the guests going to and from their rooms.

Cons:

Personally I prefer a hotel building that have a history and are well kept, rather than a completely new building without any soul. But there is fine line where a water leakage from the window is not OK. We noticed this late in our stay, but it was obvious that it had been going on for some time - maybe only after the worst showers.
