Checked into the Hilton on the River in New Orleans on Poydras. Just had to write in and let Tiffney know that I was so impressed by her kindness and professionalism. Excellent job Tiffney!!!
Damarys was super awesome and friendly with our members and staff. She made sure our registration desk was nice and tidy. She does a great job and you can tell she takes pride in her work.
The hotel location is great and convenient for a cruise, but overall not that great. It is very expensive.
Easy enough to get a taxi for. There is a streetcar stop right in front which is good.
It is busy and noisy.
For a five star price the service is lacking. We ordered room service breakfast for three which was $60. Unfortunately the server who dropped it off quickly ran away and was missing items. There was no way to confirm the order because they don’t give receipts. I tried calling room service but they only gave an automated phone service. I then went to the front desk to get them to call and actually speak to them. Then they went up more food but still missing items. The server said they were too busy and rushed off.
I've stayed here several times because we love the location - it's within walking distance to the French Quarter and Canal Street, easy access to the Riverwalk, across the street from the casino, and a block away from the streetcars. I've been lucky enough to get rooms with window views of the river, which is neat to sit and watch the boat traffic.
The hotel is huge as it has convention space, so it can be easy to get turned around in. There are convenient and delicious eateries and amenities on property.
Parking is a bit pricey at $50/night, but it's in a secure, covered garage. They do have valet parking available for just a little more. We had issues once with the room card not working to let us in/out of the garage, and somehow ended up being charged for an extra night of parking, but were able to get it resolved. Keep in mind there is no where to temporarily park while checking in (common throughout downtown NOLA), so have a plan beforehand.
The renovated rooms are fantastic. Clean, cool colors in the decor, comfortable beds. The floors that haven't been renovated do show their age and have darker colors, fixtures, and carpet throughout the rooms, and the beds aren't as comfortable. The older rooms also have shower curtains that are too short, so we had to put extra towels on the floor to soak up the water and avoid slipping when stepping out.
In all the rooms, the A/C resets itself afyer an undetermined amount time (and often in the middle of the night) to 72, which is weird and I ended up waking up sweating since the duvets are down feather (why you have cold weather bedding in the south is beyond me). I'm also not a fan of the duvets - they're just sandwiched between two sheets and the feathers pop out and poke you.
Check in can be chaos with quite a long line, but they are usually pretty efficient. If you have any kind of status as a Hilton Honors member, they do have a separate line that gets priority. Or even better, skip the line entirely and check in on their app to get a digital key. Check out is also easy as you can either call or text the front desk, or use the app to avoid the line. There is usually a table set up in the lobby around check in hours with cookies (or one time they had gumbo samples) and fruit infused water.
There is also a $30/night resort fee whether you use the amenities or not. (Hilton - please STOP with the resort fees and just include it in the price of the stay, or make the 'premium' amenities a la carte!) This does include a per person food and beverage credit for onsite dining, or can be used in their grab and go market area, access to the pool and fitness center, rentals for pickleball equipment if that's your thing, and 'premium' wifi. I thought I saw there was also a discount offered for one of the paddleboat tour companies.
Overall, I will stay here again, but there are less expensive options in the city that are just as nice.
Stayed here for my bachelor party because of the location near the quarter and right by the river and it was a great time. I had 5 rooms booked, one of which was a suite with a living room for the team to hang out in and the suite setup was so convenient and spacious.
Kiara at the front desk helped me check in early and get me set up so that my group's rooms were all together. Came down 3 times to check in as my group arrived one at a time. Totally made our whole weekend!
There are shops and even a Café du Monde nearby as well as a bar and convenience store in the lobby so highly recommend the spot!
We have stayed at the hotel a few times when traveling by cruise. It’s so close to all amenities as well as being one of the closest hotels to cruise terminal. The hotel staff are excellent and the rooms are very spacious and well appointed
The TV system would be more updated with smart TV
My business trip and mini vacation with family here went well. A few minor things were quickly made right which I rate higher than everything being perfect because customer service is becoming more and more of a lost art nowadays. The folks at this Hilton are fully locked in on doing what needs to be done and taking care of guests. I’d stay here again anytime.
If you are heading to 'The Big Easy' and want to stay in a convenient location, with great service the Hilton Riverside is hands down the spot. You will be greeted by a friendly, professional and helpful staff. If you are lucky Daejah will handle your check-in. I have allergies and my room was de-feathered and CLEAN. I mean EVERY surface had been well dusted -- lamps, phone, remote control, table tops, headboards. Yeah, I check these things.
The property is huge but it doesn't feel overwhelming. Signage is good and staff is very helpful if you happen to get turned around.
Food is really good and there are many options on site and within walking distance. Le Croissant in the hotel, offers breakfast a la carte as well as a full buffet. Sharon waited on me and she was terrific. Pleasant smile and kept my water glass and coffee cup full. I never felt rushed. Room Service was timely and Leah brought my tray with hot food (a rarity for room service at some hotels). She even rushed to bring me a toasted English muffin. If she was bothered by the request, I never knew it.
If you decide to stay here I hope your experience is as great as mine was.
Our server, Marnie was great. She was very attentive with great service.
It’s funny though, the name of the restaurant is Le Croissant and I wanted a coffee and a croissant. It couldn’t be ordered, not on the menu.
Staff was exceptional... Room was great.. Perhaps a microwave would hv been nice, but not an issue...
All good
Location! Perfect for cruise ships. We walked to the ship faster than folks could get there in taxis.
Close to the port
Breakfast not included
We loved everything
There wasn't anything that we didn't like
Friendly and professional staff. Clean facility and great location.
This is the only hotel that I will stay at while in New Orleans. It is near the Mall and riverfront.
I did not like how the guests came to the food area for breakfast wearing hair bonnets, pajamas, and or house shoes. There should be a dress code. It's disgusting to have bedroom clothes around the food. That's very unsanitary.
I had such an amazing time at the Hilton Riverside. The staff, location and service was amazing. I especially want to send a huge shout out to one of the front office supervisors Mr. Cody Mayo who spend a great deal of time showing me all of what New Orleans has to offer and went as far as to write down attractions, restaurants, coffee shops and bookstores. Every recommendation was superb but the kindness and dedication shown to me, the guest, was unrivalled and so appreciated. Will return if I ever visit New Orleans again.
Location and the cleanliness
The wait at check-in, I did understand it was Madi Gras but it was slow
