Pros:

It was a really friendly, sociable and comfy atmosphere. I really liked the roof garden and the chance to mingle both there and in the foyer. They had games and stamps and vending machines, and a lovely entrance.

Cons:

I think the family room we booked was good, but it was all very close, so gettin around eachothers' beds and futons to use the toilet and the light being visible into the main room etc... Also, for 5 people we had just about enough room to sleep and keep bulky luggage, but it was tight and we used the window sill to be able to get into our belongings. Not like 10/10 space wise, but good.

Wonderful hotel with a friendly vibe, great for families
Pros:

We really enjoyed the Japanese lesson and matcha tea class offered by the hotel (there was a poster advertising this as an extra for 2000 yen, although I wasn't sure if it was per family or per person - it would be expensive if per person given our size family). We were lucky to be given a freebie to test it out and the two staff members who did this with us were great and answered all our questions. It was a valuable learning experience and now we are all matcha lovers!
It was nice to have the communal kitchen and eating areas so we could chat with other travellers and staff. The kids loved all the toys and games available too. Roof top space was cool and the free coffee machine was appreciated. It was a fabulous place to stay, we will stay again when we come to Kyoto!

Pros:

The staff were absolutely incredible. I left my mobile in an uber taxi, and the staff very kindly took me to the local police station to file a report to get it back. They really did go above and beyond, which we really appreciated

The guests above us were audible from our room late at night

Pros:

Such beautiful, friendly staff with a constant smile. The place is spotless with a shared eating area which was great for the night we ate in. Free tea and coffee, lots of games to play and music to listen to. Washing machines and dyers also available if needed.
