San Diego Mission Bay Resort

We visited on May 30th using a day pass for the pool, and it was an absolute blast! The atmosphere was incredibly lively with a great DJ, great, view, and there were plenty of fun activities to keep the kids entertained.

The entire staff was amazing, but we want to give a special shoutout to Carlos, who was overseeing the team by the pool. He went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly and that our family was perfectly taken care of. He and our server (shorter gal with a great smile, dark hair) are an asset to the staff!

This resort is actually my ultimate local secret. I bring all of my out-of-town guests here for drinks/apps (often live music!) at Covewood or a day pass at the pool. It never disappoints! Honestly, missing out on Marriott Bonvoy or Hilton Honors points is totally worth it to experience this place! Highly recommend this spot for a premium, sunny getaway in San Diego.

We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon at San Diego Mission Bay resort with my son and his friends as they were wrapping up the last week of school We took the boys to grab lunch at Solrisa Steve the bartender took incredible care of them and made them feel so special on the lastday of school. They’ll never forget that moment

This is a really nice hotel. Originally built in the 70s is my guess and so the rooms are big and it is only 2 stories and close to the bay. It is very spacious which is hardly something you find these days. If I was a San Diego tourist (I live here) this is the place I would recommend. We were here because of another party that was being held on Mission Bay and this was the closest hotel to the party.

Service was good and check in was easy. Parking easy too. All in all, NOT stressful which is a good thing in a big city like San Diego.

The breakfast at the hotel restaurant was delicious and same price as if we went out in town. Dining at the bay is very nice. We had a group of us in the bar and service was good and they had live music which was one guy singing and playing guitar. No problem.

There is also a board which lists lots of activities for families, seems like a great place to stay with kids.

Check your bill. They throw junk fees in and try to rip you off.

Front desk, answering the phones, mission joes and the restaurant leaves little to be desired. The food from the covewood was pretty dismal and the selection at mission joes is lacking.

We had a hiccup over a charge that should have been credited back to our bill and the whole process took over 30 min to resolve before we could drive home. It was a big headache as we were ready to leave. Thankfully Matty resolved it for us.

The room upgraded since we booked 3 the capital one lifestyle collection. It was a decent size with king bed and nice pillows.

Hopefully the owners can resolve the phone issues. We requested a 12 noon checkout and they somehow managed to screw that up after we called them 2x.

Came to celebrate my friends birthday at the pool with ResortPass. Steve at the pool bar was amazingggg. Top tier service and his drinks were wow. Need to come back asap. Thank you Steve for the best time and most yummy drinks.

Some friends and I had a great experience here! The resort is beautiful, the spa is excellent and the dining is top notch! Steve made us feel right at home at the restaurant and he so attentive and thoughtful!

Anna had the best recommendations for food and drinks! Definitely ask for her when you visit!!

We had an absolutely incredible stay at the San Diego Mission Bay Resort! The entire property is absolutely gorgeous and meticulously clean.
The customer service here is top-notch; every staff member we encountered was incredibly kind and genuinely helpful. A huge thank you and special shout-out to Elizabeth! Her exceptional hospitality and wonderful guidance truly elevated our trip and made us feel so welcome.
Our room was flawlessly clean, which we appreciated immensely. The resort also offers so many fantastic amenities, and the on-site coffee is absolutely delicious—a perfect way to start each morning.

We made a reservation weeks in advance at the San Diego Mission Bay Resort to celebrate a significant family milestone. We never received any notification that our reservation had been cancelled — no call, no email, no explanation whatsoever.
The only reason we found out at all was by chance. We visited the resort for dinner two nights before our stay, simply to check out the property, and when I casually asked the front desk about our upcoming reservation — that is when I learned it had been cancelled. Had we not happened to stop in, we would have shown up Sunday night with no room and no warning.
What followed made it worse. I contacted the hotel multiple times, spoke with several staff members, and was promised a callback by 8:00 AM the following morning. That callback never came. No one has reached out, and attempts to get answers continue to go unanswered.
This was meant to be a special celebration for our family. Instead, we are scrambling for last-minute alternatives because this resort cancelled on us without a word — and cannot be bothered to explain why or make it right.
A cancellation can happen. What cannot be excused is discovering it by accident, and then being met with complete indifference. The broken promises, lack of communication, and total absence of accountability speak volumes about how this property treats its guests.
I would strongly caution anyone considering a stay here to think twice.

Salvador at plaza de sol gave amazing experience to my fiancée and I. Go here and he will provide you a great time! He is a hard worker and made a connection with us. We will be retuning just because of him!
