Residence Inn by Marriott Virginia Beach Town Center

My two daughters and their families live in Virginia Beach and we go down quite a bit to visit them, on our most recent trip to celebrate my grandson's 3rd birthday, we stayed once again at the Residence Inn by Marriott. This has become our go to hotel when we visit Virginia Beach. The hotel is well maintained, the staff is friendly and professional. The rooms are spacious, well appointed and clean. The location is very convenient with proximity to numerous dining and entertainment venues. We look forward to future visits and stays at this great hotel.

The breakfast was one of the best that I've experienced

Easy check-in, clean, good location.

The room was comfortable, free parking. But this is another case where Marriott does not take housekeeping serious. No housekeeping during my entire stay. They just blow it off when you tell them and offer to replace your towels. Also, no coffee or water or any other refreshments in the lobby or public space. These are common amenities that this hotel fails to provide. When you ask about coffee, they've obviously gotten this question hundreds of times because they say, then look down, not outside of breakfast hours. Marriott service continues to be inconsistent across the brand.

We have stayed here before. Excellent location. The staff have been Excellent when we have visited. From the moment you check in at the front desk, you feel welcome. The housekeeping staff are wonderful, and not only does the facility look clean, it smells great. The breakfast is exceptional with incredible staff to keep it perfect and they are very friendly. We were happy to see the same staff members again. With laundry facilities this is perfect if we are there for a week or a month. We will gladly return.

Bad

I had a trip planned with my daughters for over six months and booked this hotel well in advance, specifically requesting an early check-in. When we arrived around 1 p.m., we were told the room wasn’t ready. I explained that if it wasn’t available by 2 p.m., we’d have to check in after midnight due to our plans that afternoon and evening. Even by then, our room was still unavailable.

When we finally checked in around midnight, the room immediately smelled strongly of human urine. The bed linens had hair under the blankets and visible stains, and the floor was also dirty and stained. It was completely unacceptable.

Rather than stay in those conditions, we returned the room keys and made the four-hour drive home at 1 a.m. — exhausted and very disappointed.

Be cautious when booking here. This hotel was very deceiving in presentation and definitely not up to Marriott standards.
