Great location.. tired hotel
Pros:

Great location to walk around Sante Fe

Cons:

The common areas & pool areas were pretty beat up. At the outside pool area all of the chairs & lounge chairs were torn & tattered. Inside was the same situation for the furniture in the lobby cheap job on having adequate comfortable seating for guest.. nothing matched it was a series of fixes

Do better Hilton
Pros:

This Hilton needs some exterior love . The rooms were very comfortable and decorated according to the feel of Santa Fe . The lobby is cute and comfortable with nice New Mexica accents. The art is very well appointed featuring local artist . The front desk staff was young and seemed a bit inexperienced but very helpful .

However - the outside seating area before entering the lobby was run down with tired furniture and empty water bottles. The pool looked like it had not been cleaned since 1970 and / or updated . As a swimmer , I would not do a lap in this pool . The furniture by the pool could be updated and more stylish . Do better Hilton .

WORST HILTON WE HAVE EVER STAYED IN, NOT HILTON QUALITY! DO NOT STAY!
Pros:

This is the absolute worst experience we have ever had at a HILTON HOTEL! My husband has been staying at HILTONS on business for 40-plus years, and we stay there frequently on personal and business trips. I booked a reservation weeks in advance for us. We were celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary. We were set to arrive on June 5 and depart on June 9. TSA had equipment issues (scanners out) at our home airport, and we, along with 15-plus other passengers, missed our flight. We were rescheduled, but the arrival in Albuquerque was after 11pm. I called the hotel to let them know of our change in plans, MULTIPLE TIMES. My 3 calls were NEVER ANSWERED!!! I called Hilton Honors Reservations, and they also tried to call MULTIPLE TIMES, NO ANSWER! They asked me to call back in a few hours! I did. They tried again MULTIPLE times, NO ANSWER! They called the Supervisor/Manager's phone. NO ANSWER! They emailed the manager and the supervisor, but on arrival, the front desk said that they had not checked their email. We booked the Hilton Garden Inn in Albuquerque for June 5, and it was wonderful. I'll review it separately! We arrived, no one was in line at the desk, and it took 15 minutes to check in, though we were the only guests at the counter. We got to the room, no water, as there should have been for a Hilton Honors Guest. There were two large glass bottles of water for $12 each, BUT there was no bottle opener. We asked housekeeping they said they had no bottle opener. We went to the front desk to get one to pay TWELVE DOLLARS per bottle for what should have been free. They said they didn't have bottle openers, which the company had told them were twist-off, but they weren't. They KNEW they were not twist-off, but NO bottle openers were provided, AND they just kept those waters in the room and did not replace them!

The next morning, the complimentary coffee was out. We were sent to the restaurant where there was no free coffee. We did buy breakfast, and it was excellent, and the service was great. Housekeeping was also excellent!

Back to the front desk staff, supervisors, and manager....all AWFUL, unwelcoming, unfriendly, unprofessional, not knowledgeable and unconcerned at the complaints of MANY guests.

We went to the pool, which was dirty, and most of the lounge chairs were damaged and unsafe to sit in. The towel bar had NO towels to put on the decrepit chairs. I went to the lobby and told the front desk person that there were no towels at the pool. He gave me two towels. No one ever brought towels to the pool the entire time we were there. Guest after guest had to go to the lobby to get a towel, and still no one had brought down any towels.

The hallways were dimly lit and DARK.

There were no bellmen. There was only self-parking, and it cost $31 per night.

The entire front desk staff for our entire stay, June 6-9, 2026, was just terrible. This hotel is NOT HILTON QUALITY. The hallways were dark, the elevators weren't working, and no one responded to guests trapped in the elevators, even when they rang the bell. They had to call 911 from their cell to get out of the elevator, and the elevator was not repaired during our entire stay.

We recommend that you DO NOT STAY at HILTON HISTORIC PLAZA SANTA FE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!

Disappointing Stay Compared to Previous Years
Pros:

The staff was friendly, but many appeared very young and not well-trained in customer service. I booked through Amex and was initially going to be charged twice, though I was able to get it resolved before leaving.
We have stayed at this hotel every year, and unfortunately this visit felt like a step down in overall service. The restaurant, which used to offer very good food and attentive service, has noticeably declined. It was difficult to find waitstaff, and there seemed to be issues with employees not showing up. At one point, the omelette station attendant had to leave to cook elsewhere after already setting up.
Overall, it felt like many employees were new and lacked support from management. This was surprising and disappointing given our past positive experiences.

Wonderful hotel with outstanding staff.
Pros:

Wonderful hotel with outstanding staff. Upon arrival, we were greeted at the desk by Santiago who handled check in quickly and efficiently while engaging us about our trip and recommending restaurants and things to see. The location of the hotel is perfect - right next to all of the shops, boutiques and restaurants. The amenities are great - spacious guest room, comfortable places to sit and check email and a huge pool with lots of seating around it.

I stayed here years ago and it was great, this time was a disappointment.
Pros:

Beds very comfortable, good cleaning staff

Cons:

No valet help when we arrived and left. One of us had a lot of oxygen equipment to haul in and out. Very disappointed about this. Coffee available at limited morning hours and twice no cream. I was told by desk clerk to walk down to Ortiz and ask restaurant to give me a bottle of 1/2 and 1/2 and fill it myself. Appeared short on staff. Elevator out of order our entire stay, caused us to walk much further multiple times a day, one of us was on oxygen and it made things harder for her.

All you need is right here
Pros:

This is the place to wander around with all the stores and go off the beaten path and come back. Lots of places to eat, although none are inexpensive. La Fonda Hotel is there and their bakery. Souvenir shops aplenty. Many benches there in the park area to sit and take it all in. Great place for a solo traveler to hang out, walk, and not be bothered. Live entertainment as well. Good place to touch base. Hotels, museums..all there.

Didn't feel like a high-end hotel should...
Pros:

Hotel was beautiful inside and out and extremely well appointed. Room was large and very comfortable. The location near the plaza was perfect.

Cons:

The staff were clearly having major issues. Bless the desk manager who was working hard to keep it together, but the cleaning staff was behind, restaurant staff were slow and under prepared and things hadn't been prepared for our large group resulting in a long wait. Wait didn't feel like a Hilton...it felt a little like a train wreck. I hope they can address the issues.

hotel not up to usual Hilton standards I’m afraid.
Pros:

Omg as a Hilton honours member expected better standards. Small dark room allocated no porterage in the morning even tho paid for. Breakfasts okay however cannot cope with a number of guests turning up at same time first day breakfast at 7 didn’t not open until 5’past 7.Personally I’d give this one a miss.

Expected more, got less.
Pros:

Staff throughout the hotel are all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet offers a lot of choices and attentive servers.
The location of the hotel is within walking distance of the historic Plaza.

Cons:

Old frayed towels, a bedspread which had lumpy bunched up detached batting in it......not a good look for a Hilton. Swimming pool looked dirty or maybe it just needs a refinish on the bottom as it looked splotchy black or???
The Ortiz restaurant within the hotel was understaffed and my meal was disappointing in that the cheese was rubbery and the tortilla tasted stale. The filling which was supposed to be shredded chicken was cut up dark meat cubes.
Be aware that you will be charged 31.00 a day for parking on the hotel's property

Average Hilton
Pros:

This hotel is old and feels old. Elevator was scary. No executive lounge. Breakfast very average. Room was ok, but AC controls were not working well. Walk to the old town was short.

Great Location, Poor Guest Experience
Pros:

I am giving this hotel 2 stars purely for the location and for the front desk clerk who checked us in. He was very professional and helpful, and he was the only one there to do all the work of checking people in, answering the phone, delivering things to people's rooms, etc. He's a hard worker.

Otherwise, this hotel was a total bust. The AC in our room didn't work. It made a lot of noise, but it didn't cool the room at all. They did send someone to fix it, but he was there for about a minute and said it's a historic building and that's the best they can do. If that's the case, fine, but then don't advertise air-conditioned rooms.

Came back to our room after a show, pulled back the duvet cover, and found a stain that looked suspiciously like fecal matter. They did offer to change the sheets, but the fact that it was left there like that makes me wonder what else isn't being cleaned or paid attention to.

The hallways are so dim that you can barely see the room numbers, and our floor had a big hole in the ceiling with a ceiling panel lying in the middle of the floor when we checked in.

Overall, there aren't enough staff members, there's very little care taken for basic things, and the floors with rooms are so dim they look like dungeons. Hilton also has a lot of nerve charging $31 for self-parking in a lot that anyone can access (it would be somewhat different if they had a garage with protected parking) considering what they charge for this hotel.

Update need here.
Pros:

I stayed here 12 years ago and the place looks exactly the same. Very worn and dated carpet and furniture. Hotel is in need of a major update.
