Pros:

The staff was exceptionally accommodating. The rooms were clean and spacious.

Cons:

Parking. There were no parking spaces available in the parking garage. We had to park in a public parking garage which was across and down the street.
The parking spaces in the hotel parking garage are very compact and the turns are extremely tight. The hotel no longer offers valet parking.

There was no liquid dish washing soap in the kitchen so no way to truly wash your dishes prior to putting them in the automatic dishwasher - or even to clean a dish prior to using it for the first time.

We got completely screwed.
Pros:

The location was central to a lot of things. The room was clean.

Cons:

The front desk worker downgraded us from a suite to a regular room, which we paid for IN FULL when we booked. They told us the hotel was overbooked and, like an airline, they could bump us down or even not give us a room. They told us that because we used booking.com, they had no way to give us any kind of money back on the room difference, which was pretty significant. We had booked the suite for the kitchen area because we planned to cook a birthday dinner for my UT freshman, but that got completely thrown out the window. The parking garage cannot accommodate “oversized vehicles” which was nowhere on their information. They attempted to charge us $50 to park out truck in “oversized parking” but they had no spots available. When we attempted to see what the room price difference was online, we realized we had payed a huge amount of money for the day we stayed due to some events going on on campus, and that a regular weekend night was hundreds of dollars less than we paid… for a room we didn’t even get. The other crazy part was the room was fresh as a daisy, but had no furnishings or wall decor. It was like it had been freshly painted and cleaned, but nothing put back. I called and ask for at least a single chair for the room, and front desk said they’d get on it, but it never came. I’m still sick to my stomach knowing how much we spent on this room.

Cons:

My stay at DoubleTree by Hilton was very disappointing.
Even though I extended my stay by 1 day and paid $350, I couldn’t open my room. When I went down to the front desk, the young staff member couldn’t find my reservation and wasted about an hour of my time. Repeated explanations didn’t help, and I was unnecessarily frustrated. The issue was only resolved after contacting the previous reservation staff.
Additionally, there was no drinking water in the room, which is unacceptable for a hotel at this price. Overall, this stay was far below the expected standard and the staff unnecessarily complicated things.

Give it a try - hopefully you have a nicer experience than we did.
Pros:

We arrived late as we’re on a tour. Had an issue with pre-payment of our rooms (tour company problem) so could not check in. Staff were not helpful whilst I called the tour company. No bottled water available at check in. Rooms very spacious and clean - good bed. Bar is overpriced and not restocked regularly. Friendly staff at breakfast. Close to Capitol and 20 minutes walk to central downtown

Our stay was wonderful!
Pros:

We enjoyed the location. It was near everything we wanted to do in Austin.

Cons:

The parking situation was not our favorite. First, not knowing where to park had us going in circles. Then finding out we had to check in first in order to get room key made us glad that we hadn't completed the online check-in. Last, finding out parking was $45 a night even though we had to park our own car, was less than desired.
