This hotel should be shut down and not accepting any guest. It had no AC, it lost hot water, and lost all water at points. The elevators were also being used for cleaning crews and contractor crews while one of the elevators was also down so they took awhile. The carpets were disgusting, the hallways had must in them.
Shame on Hilton for keeping this place open to guest. Just shut it down and finish your renovations.
Good location. Staff was friendly. Room looked nice. Parking was easy. It should be nice once the renovations are complete.
No AC in the entire building, so room was very warm and stuffy. The restaurant was closed. The renovations made the building look run down (not like a 4 star hotel).
Location
The booking agency advertised complimentary breakfast, but failed to mention that the restaurant was closed for renovations. In addition, the air conditioning was not functioning, and the outside temperature exceeded 80 degrees. We were given a fan and advised to open the windows. Overall, this did not feel like a 4-star hotel — the property was very dated and worn.
Don’t stay here. Everything is terrible. It’s dirty. Water damage, even in the lobby. And to top it off I checked in at night and in the morning there was no water. At all. No toilet. No shower. No sink. I called the front. No answer. So I went down and the gentleman working said there would be no water until after 5pm. This was at 9am. And I had a convention to work. The only good part was a guy named Diego who helped me cancel the last 3 days of my stay to go somewhere else. This place shouldn’t be a Hilton.
My first room had mold all over the bathroom ceiling. They moved me to a new room with graffiti on the door jams and walls. I got stuck in the elevator, there was no hot water. The water got shut off for an entire day. The bar out back was blaring the Timberwolves game on their outdoor yard tv until almost midnight. My door key stopped working and was fraying on the sides. The heater didn’t work. I felt like I was in a crackhouse. It was crazy. I will never stay at another DoubleTree.
We experienced a serious plumbing issue during our stay. We initially noticed a strong unpleasant odor and a large wet spot under the carpet. When we returned later, there was standing water on the floor and our belongings had been damaged. At one point, unsanitary material also came up from the sink, which was extremely concerning.
Staff did move us to another room promptly, which we appreciated. However, we were only offered a room change at the time, with no clear discussion of a refund or how damaged items would be handled. The manager did not mention compensation. The next morning, front desk staff said a refund should not be an issue and that management would follow up, but we have not heard back after several days. There was also no guidance provided on how to report or seek reimbursement for damaged personal items.
While the initial response was quick, the lack of follow-through and communication afterward was disappointing
This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had when traveling for business… In fact, it was so bad that it was almost funny!
First of all, after I parked, I could not get into the door until I called a manager. Once I got to the front desk to check-in, I noticed a big hole in the ceiling with water dripping into a bucket right in the middle of the front lobby. This distracted me somewhat from the argument at the front desk in front of me, where someone who had a business reservation confirmed for many weeks did not have a room available. I know that this can happen, so I proceeded with caution to the desk.
Check-in seemed easy for me. They had a room available right away. However, when I got up to my room on the seventh floor, it appeared that the door had been kicked in, and the door jam was hanging on by screws. When I touched the door, the door jam fell completely to the ground.
I immediately called the front desk and asked for maintenance. However, they said that they did not know where the maintenance guy was and that they were all very busy with check-ins right now. So he did not know when it would be fixed.
I gave them some time, but, as I sat inside, I noticed that the room was very very warm. I cranked the AC down and noticed that it was only blowing room temperature air. After several minutes, I called to check on the maintenance guy and also asked about the A/C. The front desk mentioned that the A/C is not working throughout the entire hotel… And hasn’t been for several days. Their solution was to have me crack my windows as far as they would go (about 3 inches) and they would see if they had a box fan to send up to me. At this point, I had had enough. I asked for my reservation to be canceled and my account to be refunded. They put me through to the Hilton reservation line, who helped me out with this.
The fun didn’t stop there though. While I was sitting inside, I had closed the door and flipped the latch just to stay safe while I waited for maintenance. However, after I got off the phone with Hilton and proceeded to leave the room, the door was stuck shut. No matter what I did, I could not get it open. I called the front desk again and told them this. To their credit, the front desk clerk came up and helped. He could not open it either, and proceeded to kick the door in so that I could make my escape.
Fortunately, while I was on the phone with Hilton, I was able to make a new reservation down the street at the Marquette Hotel (which is a beautiful property!). The rest of my business trip was very uneventful after this rocky start.
Overall, I could not believe the condition of this property. I had stayed here before back in the late 2010’s and it was much better. However, the leak in the ceiling in the lobby was there back then as well. They obviously have some very poor management, are not willing to spend any money to fix the place, and lack in quality control overall.
I expect better from Hilton.
Nice beds and location. Some of the staff were lovely.
One staff member was very ignorant. Difficult to get help or communicate with.
The workers were great, the guy at the front Desk(Diego) was very helpful and polite with good manner and Charismatic. The F&B manager was also very nice, offering help and options for us if needed. They both deserved a raise.
We asked for more sheets and blankets, they were all good except one blanket has some spots crusted together, like not washed properly or should have just been thrown away or something
hot water for shower was tepid. Did not take a shower because of that
Rien.
Si l’emplacement
Beaucoup d’avaries
Where do I start. I’ve been traveling for business for 12 years and I’ve never been in a worse hotel. No AC anywhere in the building and no one knew until they arrived despite it being out for days
Nothing
Building run down
Ac doesn’t work
No hot water in shower
I guess the location.
That they gave my room
Away and is still haven’t received a refund for one night. Put us first in a room full ripped apart during the entire floor co struction.
