Attention to detail - my breakfasts were slightly wrong on both days (no egg, jam instead of marmalade, no salt or pepper). I would have expected that detail to be perfect

Cons:

There are only 3 small lifts, 1 of which was out of service. Whilst these things happen, and size restrictions are understood for the age of the building etc, it meant there was a queue to get in the lift on most of the occasions we wanted to use them. We had to wait for several passes of the operating lifts before we could get in, everyone was complaining and the whole lift experience - whilst necessary with luggage / injuries etc - was very, very cramped and unpleasant. There was a staff luggage lift that could have been manned for guest use at the busiest of times but this was not made available. For the quality of the hotel, there should be some effort made to help ease this situation.

Disappointing experience!
Cons:

Unfortunately, there was an issue with the electrics in my room which meant none of the ceiling or wall lights could be switched off. I was informed that the previous guest staying in the same room had experienced exactly the same issue, so it was disappointing that the room had been allocated again the following night without the fault being resolved.

I was also told that the hotel was fully booked, meaning there was no option to move me to an alternative room. As a result, I didn’t get a wink of sleep due to the extremely bright spotlights positioned directly above the bed, which ultimately caused me to develop a migraine overnight.

To the hotel’s credit, they did reduce my bill by 50% upon checkout. However, given that I effectively had no sleep at all and felt awful the following morning, I do feel the night should have been complimentary.

This was particularly disappointing as I’ve stayed at this hotel many times previously and have always had positive experiences, which made this situation even more frustrating.
