Hotel was clean and inviting. Rooms were nice and clean but the pillows provided are the worst I've ever had. I don't think they had anything in them. No support!! I had 10 pillows on the bed but not one of them provided any support. Woke up with headaches everyday. Food at Brown Bag is marginal at best. I travel frequently in area and don't plan to go back.
I love this hotel and the staff. I travel extensively for work so hotel comfort and client services are so important!
When I walked in I was greeted by Madison Cloud, who was amazing and knowledgeable. I had a long trip and she took care of me and got me into a room so quickly
I did get to meet the Assistant Front Office Manager Carla Williams who helped me with a booking issue. Carla was so friendly and made me feel at home. It is very important to those who travel to feel at home.
The hotel is very up to date and the rooms clean and smell nice. I love the free water with a filling station and to have a fridge and a coffee maker is a great feature that many hotels at this price level have done away with
Overall my experience was great and I will return!
They didn’t have my reservation although I had confirmation and it was done and paid 12 weeks in advance. The reception people eventually “fixed” it but I waited over an hour and they acted like they were doing me a favor
Loved the spacious room and closet space. The hotel amenities were above expectations.Christmas decorations were a nice touch. Staff professional and responsive to our needs.
Nothing special or unique here at this Hyatt. The parking lot access is awkward. It was a holiday weekend so not much going on in this business area of Bethesda. Try Tatte pastry shop for excellent breakfast and pastries and lunch
Very understaffed. Long lines for check-in at front desk, long lines at the valet. No valet available at 445am when we were trying to get to the airport. Not to the standard we expect from a Hyatt Regency.
Our family recently found ourselves in an unexpected and stressful situation after a flood displaced my elderly parents from their home. We checked into the hotel expecting to stay for about three weeks, but the very next day my mother experienced a medical emergency. During such a frightening time, the kindness and professionalism of the hotel staff made all the difference.
From the moment the situation unfolded, the staff went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable, supported, and given the privacy we needed. Their compassion, respect, and genuine care made us feel not just like guests, but like family. Every interaction—with management, housekeeping, and the front desk—reminded us that we were in a place where people truly care. Special shout outs to Housekeeping Manager, Martha. General Manager, Katherina Kia, Assistant Hotel Manager, Manny Noble and Darla at the front desk.
Despite the difficult circumstances, we felt incredibly loved and looked after throughout our stay. This experience has left a lasting impression on all of us, and we are deeply grateful for everything the hotel team did to help us through a challenging time.
We will absolutely return—whether for another stay or simply a staycation—and we will wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to our friends and loved ones. Thank you for turning a stressful time into one filled with comfort and compassion.
It's not fair to use the filter of a background and career in hospitality as a gauge for how others perform, but it cannot be helped, especially when you present as an elevated brand.
This is a long one, so grab a drink.
The first thing I want to share is when you come to this property you should bring a refillable water bottle because they have water bottle refill stations next to the ice machines on every floor. It is brilliant, and the water is filtered and tasty. Of course if you want to pay the overcharge price for the bottles of water they leave in the room, you do you.
I also want to give a shout out to the night manager, Cody. I was up ridiculously early every morning, and I would come down to do work and he would be there, graciously fielding my questions. He is quite knowledgeable, affable, and definitely an asset to the property.
We all arrived for a special event, and check-in could've been less painful and more streamlined than it was. Questions I had about booking and promotions were met with a challenge from one of the team members who told me that no such promotions existed.
When I showed her the hotel website and the promotion, she was a bit dismissive, which surprised me, but I figured, since she didn't know what she was talking about to begin with, she was put on the defensive.
They have a thing they call the European Market. All the basic things you might need from over-the-counter medications to snacks, to even alcohol can be purchased here. In the mornings they also set up a continental breakfast. It's not free. It is a part of this thing they call a European Market. Strangely, having been to Europe, traveled there as well as lived there, I've never encountered a European Market, but now I must find one on my next trip.
In the room, there was a challenge with one of the outlets not working, and when I went to find another one, I discovered two power strips behind the dresser. They should've been black, but they were smoke gray thanks to the thick amount of dust covering them.
I brought this to the attention of the front desk, letting them know it was both a fire hazard and an allergy hazard. I was told the manager would reach out to me. That never happened.
The way the dresser is designed, it has a massive piece of insect glass and there's a slight space between the edge of the glass and the wood that is perfect for collecting particles of food and debris. Several members of our travel party stayed in this facility, and every room had the same challenges.
Incidentally, as I compose this over a week later, I still haven't heard from a manager.
The Brown Bag is an excellent choice for breakfast, highly recommended. They do lunch as well. The food is freshly prepared right in front of you. You should also try the lemonade.
As far as transportation, parking is at a premium, but it is probably less expensive. If you don't need a vehicle to take a Lyft or Uber if you arrive at DCA. There's a metro station underneath this hotel. That will get you pretty much anywhere you want to go.
If this seems hyper-critical, it's because Hyatt presents itself as a high end brand. There were too many small challenges that add up to things that a high end brand shouldn't be faced with. If it were a budget space, I would adjust my expectations accordingly.
It is not. Fortunately for the management and engineering team, it's just a few things on the maintenance and training front to bring this back to superior.
Conveniently located in the heart of downtown Bethesda, one block from the Vamoose bus drop-off and the Round House Theatre, and a short walk from Bethesda Row, the Hyatt Regency may not be the newest hotel in the area, but it is certainly the most convenient. Its atrium lobby (once an architectural marvel and now almost quaint) is impeccably maintained. Our room was spotlessly clean and larger than expected. Our only complaint is that there currently is no restaurant within the hotel serving breakfast, although we did have an excellent steak dinner at the branch of the Morton's restaurant chain housed within the hotel. But we understand that a new restaurant is under construction and will rectify this issue soon; meanwhile, there are more than enough breakfast spots within walking distance.
Clean quiet large room. Very convenient to the METRO.
Short walk to Tatte's, the neighborhood coffee & breakfast spot.
terrible rewards program and lie about rooms which was asked many, many, many times only to be told that all rooms have no access to fresh air, which is just not true.
Great stay. Friendly helpful staff. Great steakhouse inside. Clean and modern. Good conference space and service as well.
We were only at the hotel for 12 hours, but had a great stay! Our room was lovely and I recommend booking the Deluxe King Terrace if you can. It wasn't huge but the use of space made it feel much more inviting, with a nice sitting area, wet bar with fridge, and desk in one part, and then a king bed with a 2nd flat screen TV off the side (all open layout). The wow factor comes from a huge outdoor terrace with dining table and chairs, overlooking the courtyard and local area. We happened to have a gorgeous night, so dinner al fresco was a fun treat for me and my son, plus the TV completely swivels so we could watch World Series Game 7 from the terrace!
We snagged a pretty good rate and found the room updated and clean. Large bathroom, nice amenities, nothing to complain about except the parking fee but the hotel doesn't control the garage so it is what it is.
We look forward to another stay soon!
My girlfriend travels regularly on the road. She was having a bad week. I called the hotel to set up an amenity to be delivered to her room/given upon arrival. Armon came through clutch!
Please give him my thanks, and do your best to recognize him internally. Any other travelers out there, ask for Armon, he'll get you taken care of!
In a world of declining concern for delivering quality, Hyatt Regency Bethesda stands out with it's superior customer experience and clean, comfortable rooms. Thank you Hyatt!!
Very comfortable, clean, and with good service. Elevators require room key swipe to access hotel room floors. Luggage check room quickly available.
pleasant stay and great location with easy access to nearby events and restaurants. Busy but quiet for a great getaway to handle business and enjoy the local events happening in a unique community right off the 495 beltway, within minutes of the Nation's Capital.
Excellent stay here. Right next to Metro. Cafe in hotel excellent for breakfast and lunch. Layout of hotel good. Rooms large and comfortable. Bar in hotel great. Walkable to shops and restaurants. Highly recommend.
We are here with our school group- 8th graders - for the annual DC trip. We have stayed at your hotel before and as the leader of the trip, it is my preferred and requested place to stay. Thank you for such wonderful accommodations.
This year one of your employees really went out of her way to help. One of my students needed some fruit for a medical reason and Mihret went to the kitchen and got a plate of fruit for us. Our breakfast had not yet been set up because it was an hour before we were scheduled to eat. Because of her extra help, my student was able to eat a bit and this helped her to relax. I really appreciate that Mihret went out of her way to help. Just another reason I like to stay at the Hyatt, Bethesda.
Very reasonable prices. Right next to Metro. Great staff and location for restaurants, bars, etc. I highly recommend.
