1985 called - they want this hotel back. And what a trip back in time this place is. Dont believe the photos on the website - its not like that. Its 1985 all over again. Its dank and dumpy. Most of all there is nowhere to eat. There is dumpy and unclean sandwich shop off the lobby that is not affiliated with the hotel - dont even try and charge breakfast to the room. In the lobby is an otherwise lovely woman selling coffee and gas station microwave sandwiches of dubious quality. This is not worthy of being a Hyatt. It should be a Doubletree at best.
Overall a nice, clean hotel. The lady at the front desk was not real friendly- maybe she was having a bad day. It would be nice to alternative eating options for room service.
Crowded and loud and everything was understaffed. Took forever to checkin and even longer to checkout. Literally took 30 min to just get an elevator down from the 6th floor to the lobby at checkout time.
Asst mgr., Manny, was the only employee who cared, answered questions truthfully and tried to help. The communication between the front desk zombies and housekeeping was nonexistent. The room was never cleaned properly (same French fry on the floor for 5 days), never timely and once not at all. Just an old, dull, dirty property with unfriendly staff. No sit down breakfast restaurant. Other than that….
I chose this hotel because of it's proximity to a meeting I had to attend. Overall, it was clean. The lobby is rather loud and small because of the design (the rooms open onto the lobby).
We had a suite. It was small for a suite and kind of dark. An overhead light would have been nice. The furniture was uncomfortable and wasn't conducive to sitting and watching tv.
The bathroom was small which is ok, but the door to the bathroom barely cleared the toilet. A sliding door to this room would work better.
The shower needed a grab bar and more than one small shelf.
The French doors to the bedroom had glass in them. This made it difficult to not be disturbed when my husband napped or I went to bed before him.
The bed was comfortable and we were happy the hotel honored our request for no feather pillows or duvet.
The room was surprisingly quiet at night. We were worried because there were 4 busloads of young kids staying at the hotel, but they did not impact our stay.
We know they are working on providing more food options, which will be great for future travelers.
Overall, it got the job done. It just needs a few tweaks here and there.
I do want to mention that service was very good. We had no issues checking in. We did not use maid service as we weren't there very long.
Friendly and welcoming staff, ease of parking and access, clean comfortable room. Will be at this hotel next visit to Bethesda
Typical high end expensive hotel, but the only restaurant on the property is a Morton's steakhouse. No breakfast facility, and no where to grab a quick casual meal.
The location was great as it is just next to my work place, you have the red line just downstairs, and very close by few streets with a lot of shops and restaurant. The Hotel on his own I would not recommend it. You are expecting a high/moderate service or client, but the way the build the hotel (rooms around and the reception in the middle, like a cylinder) everything is echoing. The walls are very thin so you practically leave with your neighbors. And during my stay they were a bunch of teenagers with no manners screaming at any time during the night listening to musing extremely loud, slamming the doors, etc... I really didn't have pleasant nights at the hotel and I would not recommend it.
Great hotel. Modern and spacious rooms. Very clean. Fitness center was more than sufficient though 2/4 treadmills didn't work and no cages on Peloton bikes so you would need to bring your own bike shoes. 30 second walk to Metro to museums etc. no complaints.
Unsecure shampoo bottles are a danger, they fall off the holder and land on feet causing bruising and swelling. The bottle holders need a locking mechanism so when you pump the shampoo or soap, the heavy bottle does fall out and cause bodily injury.
Atrocious smell in room. Reeks of mold and cigarettes after I specified a no smoking and hypoallergenic room. Staff does not care. Very dismissive and flippant. The windows in most of the rooms do not open. With a balcony door open in 9 degrees, it’s still giving me a headache. Do not stay here. Many better options nearby.
A great place to stay with very friendly staff.
NOTE: The parking deck was a little confusing and is very short (be careful if you are in a tall SUV/truck, etc.).
Love the Bethesda Hyatt. Consistently excellent. Thank you for the clean comfortable room and great dinner at Morton’s.
The location of Bethesda Hyatt Regency is very accessible to my office and to the Metro. Oh and having great food options and shops is a added plus.
Hotel was clean and inviting. Rooms were nice and clean but the pillows provided are the worst I've ever had. I don't think they had anything in them. No support!! I had 10 pillows on the bed but not one of them provided any support. Woke up with headaches everyday. Food at Brown Bag is marginal at best. I travel frequently in area and don't plan to go back.
I love this hotel and the staff. I travel extensively for work so hotel comfort and client services are so important!
When I walked in I was greeted by Madison Cloud, who was amazing and knowledgeable. I had a long trip and she took care of me and got me into a room so quickly
I did get to meet the Assistant Front Office Manager Carla Williams who helped me with a booking issue. Carla was so friendly and made me feel at home. It is very important to those who travel to feel at home.
The hotel is very up to date and the rooms clean and smell nice. I love the free water with a filling station and to have a fridge and a coffee maker is a great feature that many hotels at this price level have done away with
Overall my experience was great and I will return!
They didn’t have my reservation although I had confirmation and it was done and paid 12 weeks in advance. The reception people eventually “fixed” it but I waited over an hour and they acted like they were doing me a favor
Loved the spacious room and closet space. The hotel amenities were above expectations.Christmas decorations were a nice touch. Staff professional and responsive to our needs.
Nothing special or unique here at this Hyatt. The parking lot access is awkward. It was a holiday weekend so not much going on in this business area of Bethesda. Try Tatte pastry shop for excellent breakfast and pastries and lunch
Very understaffed. Long lines for check-in at front desk, long lines at the valet. No valet available at 445am when we were trying to get to the airport. Not to the standard we expect from a Hyatt Regency.
