This is one of my favorite hotels that I visit once or twice every year. I stayed again at the end of January this year and had a wonderful experience as always. The facilities are kept in excellent condition after the recent renovation — everything feels spotless and well maintained. I even noticed there was almost no dust at all, not even under the table in the room, which was impressive.
However, one issue came up during my last stay. Perhaps due to California’s weather, there were quite a few insects around the hot spring area, especially ants. The bigger concern was that I found some small black water bugs (about the size of a fingernail, possibly water beetles or water fleas) swimming in the large pool. Later, when I took a shower in my room, I was shocked to find one inside my swimsuit. I also developed some skin irritation afterward, which might have been a bite or an allergic reaction.
I understand that the hotel maintains natural water quality and probably avoids using too much chlorine or disinfectant, which I really appreciate. The water here is usually exceptional. But I just wanted to mention this issue since I’ve already booked another stay for mid-February and hope the hotel can look into it and address it before my next visit. Thank you very much for your attention and care.
Mineral pool was warm. Love coffee machine in front lobby.
Steam room was out of order. Over charged at front desk. Used booking.com what should be all inclusive bill. And the night receptionist said , I owed another thirty dollars for taxes , which should have been included in booking dot com.
Was very clean rooms
Pool and hot tub were green
We stayed here for the geothermal mineral pools.
The mineral waters and comfortable bed.
The pool was not inviting and was green.
The techs said that overall the rooms were nice but the patio area and pool were underwhelming and neglected.
Proximity to downtown Calistoga and walkability. The sauna and hot tub were nice.
I asked for new towels and robes, and the front desk staff member named Liesel, asked me and my friends to bring our used towels and robes first to her at the front desk. We essentially had to exchange our used towels and robes for new ones. They would not bring it to our rooms. I've never heard of a hotel doing this before. Never coming back.
Also, the rooms were not very clean. There was dust on the lights in the bathroom.
We like. Room, staff, location
Hot tub is very old and need repairing
Close to town
Plenty of parking
Comfortable bed
Floors were very wet bc of rain- and no door mat inside the door so water tracked everywhere.
Shower- the glass stops and there is no door- the floor and bath mat would get soaked every time and we had 4 people showering. It was a mess.
The lights in the hall and bathroom flickered on and off all night. We don’t know why.
Location was excellent, with easy access to hiking trails on the back side of town but walking proximity to the downtown as well
Location and spa set up
Very clean and comfortable
Nothing comes to mind
Clean
Location was good
Small hot tub
Hotel rooms are clean and updated. Friendly guest service overall. Hotel amenities are limited with a small pool, hot tub, and sauna which are clean and well maintained but get crowded quickly.
No onsite food available. There is a small lounge at the reception. So if you are visiting in fall when it gets dark early, then there isn’t a lot of on-site activities available.
But the hotel is 8 minutes walking distraction the main street which is where restaurants, shops and spa services are located, which is very convenient.
Overall good value for money.
