Reception staff are so friendly and really went out there road to make our stay special. Room is Amazing and so nice to get deep warm bath with arran aromatics after our walk along leith walk. Excellent. Very impressed
Pros:

Excellent!

We are delighted by the service and the facilities and will be back.
We were welcomed, checked in and welcomed by Kite on reception

Kite was incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay a great one, and should be commended for fantastic customer care.

We upgraded to a club double deluxe room which was well worth it.
A beautiful and striking hotel within two minutes of the tram station and with the added bonus of free parking

We will be back

Great hotel & Hannah was fab!!
Pros:

The hotel was having some work done outside when we arrived . However on entering the reception and staff were perfect.
Hannah was a delight, she was great in the bar & fab @ breakfast. Always helped and made sure we were all fine with everything. She is a massive asset to your team.
The ambiance was also lovely.
We had two rooms, my mums could do with a little update to the bathroom. However this was extremely clean and rooms large. Beds comfy & clean.
You could pop onto the tram around the corner from the hotel to take you into the city 10mins..
Leath was a lovely place lots of resturants we went to a fab fish restaurant perfect. Can’t wait to return in summer for all the little bars.
Value for money in the mal was great too. We all received a glass of wine free which tasted even better lol…
Breakfast gorgeous on of the best. But it was full when we arrived. Hannah made the effort to get my mum a coffee and we all sat outside the restaurant. ( she was so busy and made us fell special) When a table was fee she came and seated 4 of us.
My mum needed first aid, Hannah again helped strapping her fingers up.
Everyone needs a Hannah in their life.
Thank you & thank you Mal we will return
Sorry it’s take a while to review xx

Good stay, room cleanliness let-down
Pros:

We visited the Mal before our winter holiday and stayed for 2 nights. Check in was swift and quick and we got an earlier check in for 12.30 as the room was already available.
We had a suite on the 3rd floor. It was very spacious and had everything we needed but wasn’t exactly as clean as you’d expect with dust on skirtings and scuff marks in the carpet. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were a bit limp and not up to standard.
During our stay we had room service which was fine.
We also dined in the bar and were served by Hannah, what a lovely young woman she is. A credit to the Mal. Very friendly and professional and always has a smile. It was very refreshing to have staff who care for the customer.
Check out was seamless and reception staff friendly.
Only 3 stars due to the cleanliness of the room sadly. But we would return.

Pleasant Stay
Pros:

2 night stay as a little treat before flying off to the sun - managed to get an upgrade to a suite which was lovely. I would mention that the room wasn’t as clean as expected with quite a lot of dust on the skirting boards, stains in the carpet and the heating wasn’t adequate for the size of the room and the bathroom only had a towel rail as heating. Bar staff were very friendly - Hannah & Yurika were engaging and knew how to look after us and the bar nibbles of crab tacos and chicken thighs were very tasty. Overall a pleasant stay but would have expected better standards for this brand.

Just OK
Pros:

Was a bit disappointed. Malmaison enjoys a good reputation and I was expecting something a bit more "special" for a so called "boutique" hotel. It's alright but nothing out of the ordinary.

On the plus side, it occupies an impressive historic building facing the old quayside so the location is good. Its within walking distance of the tram line leading into Edinburgh. There's also free parking behind the hotel, though as far as I could see there was no signage to help you find it.

We found some staff very helpful and some seemed a bit indifferent. It might have been the time of year ( just after hogmannay) but the bar area was almost empty in the evening despite the hotel being full and it lacked atmosphere. There was a poor choice of beers with no ales on offer at all. We chose not to eat in the restaurant as that too didn't seem to have an appealing atmosphere either. There's no separate lounge area.

At the time of writing the exterior of the building is covered in scaffolding so it seems that maintenance is taking place. The interior needs an update. The room we stayed in was tired and a bit shabby. The decor is dark which was probably fashionable at one time but looking dated now.

Shower pressure was poor and water temperature was below comfortable despite being turned up full.

All in all, its an OK place in a great location but left me feeling underwhelmed. Not much better than your run of the mill Premier Inn really.

Great service but rooms need updating
Pros:

Staff were very helpful and diligent. Our room had a few issues which was dealt with accordingly.

The bathrooms in both rooms we stayed in need to be updated as they were very drab and worn. A chest of drawers in the rooms would be useful as there is only a small hanging space in the wardrobe. Coat hooks would also be useful as everything had to be stored on the chairs in the bedroom.

Breakfast was to a very good standard and the staff were very efficient and friendly.

Hogmanay in Leith
Pros:

We rate our experience 11/10. We throughly enjoyed our stay. As regular visitor to Malmaison Hotels, we were not surprised to find a very warm welcome and spotlessly clean hotel. As members we were able to upgrade our room and get an early check in leaving us more time to explore the Port of Leith. As it was new years not all the restaurants we would have liked to have visited were open, so we chose to eat at the hotel restaurant. Thursday was half price steak night and we took full advantage having some of the best steaks we’ve tried. Particular thanks go to Hanna who was omnipresent whenever we were in need of food and drink she is a real credit to your hotel chain and made our stay very special.

Wonderful experience at MM Leith
Pros:

Deep Celeste was the perfect person to on front of house! Welcoming, friendly and offered a room upgrade and complimentary drinks for our friends as it was their wedding anniversary - thank you, Deep!

The location is perfect for a short tram ride into the centre of Edinburgh and train station.

2 minutes walk away there is a lovely atmospheric bar, Teuchters Landing, with lots of whisky options.

Great breakfast too, at Mal Masion Leith.

Utterly fantastic hotel and location
Pros:

We had a lovely 2 night midweek break at Malmaison Leith with the added bonus of clear blue skies throughout our 3 days in Edinburgh. Big thanks to all the staff for making us feel so welcome. The beds, pillows and duvets also merit a special mention for being the best we have ever had…it really was like going to sleep in the cosiest of clouds. We only resisted extended lie-ins because breakfast beckoned…unbelievable choice of delicious food and I am now a convert to fried brioche with cream and berries! Nearly forgot to mention the adjacent free parking which was great.

A wonderful festive stay!
Pros:

We stayed here this week for a work event coupled with a festive tour of Edinburgh. From the moment of arrival to the moment we checked out the hospitality, help and recommendations from the staff at Malmaison were fantastic.

Our meeting room was comfortable and food/refreshments of high quality and consistently freshly brought out.

The restaurant’s food quality was excellent with a high quality breakfast menu to choose from with table service.

I managed to check in early with the helpful support of reception and throughly enjoyed my whole stay.

I have to give a special shout out to Charles who went above and beyond to tend to our needs and create a wonderful experience.

We will certainly be back and look forward to it!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Wonderful stay at Malmaison Leith
Pros:

We had an outstanding stay at Malmaison Leith. The staff were truly exceptional from start to finish. Hannah in the bar and restaurant went above and beyond — so attentive, friendly, and professional. The front desk team couldn’t have done any more for us; their warmth and helpfulness made us feel genuinely cared for.

We were treated so well throughout our stay, and it made our visit really special. Highly recommend!
