Not far to shops and city centre walking 15 mins
Beds and mattresses are too soft and do not make our bed up the next day.
Lovely breakfast. Friendly staff.
Large room, comfortable beds, sea view, good entertainment, very spacious
furnishings - curtains a bit tired
It's a lovely old charm hotel steeped in history many of England's prime minister have stayed at this hotel.
The rooms are of a good size and the beds are comfortable it's all so in a good location not too far away from the main attractions but just enough to be quite at night.
There is entertainment on in the main room next to the bar most nights so after a long day you can relax for the evening
The hotel could do with a bit of an update looking a little tiered in places and the bar could do with a little bit more choice on the ales side
Reception staff extremely polite.
The breakfast was excellent.
Booked again to stay in October.
Parked on road don’t agree with parking charges .
Parking should be free expecting people to pay to park while in the hotel not good parked on road .
Good selection at breakfast, value for money.
Room was clean enough however you couldn’t see the carpet through the thick dust around units
Good location, beautiful building, good wifi, great breakfast lots of choices, large car park available, staff nice and helpful, stayed for one night with kids, nice spacious rooms. We had a great stay and we will be back again.
We struggled to close the windows fully, but it was warm in general at the hotel and weather was good so we didnt bother much.Interior is outdated but we loved the vibe of beautiful building in general, everything was working fine. Some negative reviews nearly puts me off for this stay buy honestly it was a great stay and I loved the spacious rooms.
Beautiful building but the entertainment needs attention. Needed to go out to find entertainment

All Ok.
The history
As usual Restaurant and Breakfast team Top Notch! Well done!
Well what a shame that this hotel Thumbs it's nose at guests complaints from threadbare carpet in the bedroom, Old House clearance furniture in situ Tape on window to stop draft shower knob difficult to turn, TV had No Guide function to chose channel, and the best one 3 doors down like ganja central with very strong smell of canabis over the two days we were there, I asked for accesible room being disbaled Veteran, and to top it, we'll take another £28 for two nights parking, the Operations manager had my details but failed to engage, and indeed when Booking.com took on the complaint failed to engage with them, a blinking disgrace, from what it used to be, other guests were also discussing canabis smell at breakfast, You should close this once great deliverer of Great stays and good Customer service, this is now being ignored, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED, if you dare to complain you will get no response!!
We have stopped here several times but on the last few occasions we have been above the left side of the hotel. We have stopped in the suites and also the rooms across from the suites facing the rear. The rooms to the sides I feel need some updating and they’re certainly not as comfortable as previous stays. Breakfast is always good. The place is always warm and welcoming.
As previous the last 3 times we have been on the wing above the main restaurant and it just doesn’t feel the same as the main part of the hotel. Above reception is better. Also car parking has gone up to £15 which is a lot when you’re already paying as a guest and this should be included in my opinion
Love the rooms. Food always outstandingly good
The runner on the bed had dirty marks on it. But we removed and gave to house keeping
