Good location and nice rooms for NY.
Unfortunately, the service at SoHo Grand is anything but friendly or welcoming. The hotel has become far too cool for its own good, seemingly forgetting that it’s a hotel first.
From Thursday to Saturday, the lobby transforms into a bar and nightclub scene. During these times, paying hotel guests are treated more like an inconvenience than valued customers. Security and door staff are particularly rude and dismissive. Given the room rates and expectation of 20%+ tips, you’d expect a basic level of hospitality.
We stayed for a week as a work group and rarely felt acknowledged or welcome. The lobby bar and diner were equally disappointing, with some of the slowest and least friendly service we experienced in New York.
Credit where it’s due, the room service staff were consistently friendly and polite.
Ultimately, this feels like a nightclub with rooms attached. Far more interested in its image and nightlife crowd than the guests actually staying there. A real disappointment for a hotel trading on its reputation.
Room was solidly nice with good views and light filled. Bathroom Ok to good.
The downstairs arrival floor (bell hops etc) is very strange indeed and a huge wasted opportunity. Looks like a wasteland at the moment not the arrival area to a quality hotel

there is no lounge where to sit and relax without having to consume.
Room was unclean, shower didn’t work, dirty window, no view, gravel pit with weeds our window, and directly on top of the nightclub in the hotel (who knew there was a nightclub in the hotel?!?) with the bass so loud until 4am both weekend nights that the bed in our room was shaking, the lights flickered and we could not sleep. It was like the nightclub was inside our room. The hotel stay completely ruined our special birthday trip that we flew 3 thousand miles for. I would rate this stay a negative 100 out of 10.

This was an extremely disappointing stay.
First, during check-in, I felt that guests were treated differently by the staff. More seriously, because the staff member assisting me was unfamiliar with the payment process, my European bank card was locked. I now have to go through a complicated process to have it unlocked. What made the situation even more frustrating was the staff member’s dismissive attitude—she acted as though this were perfectly normal and offered no sincere apology.
Second, I was unable to sleep for the entire night because of excessive noise. When I reported the issue to the front desk, the staff responded coldly with a brief apology and simply said there was nothing they could do. They made no meaningful effort to investigate the problem or offer any solution.
Overall, the poor service, lack of professionalism, and indifferent attitude of the staff made this an extremely unpleasant experience. I would not recommend this hotel.
Fantastic service. Room fit and finish was very nice.
Corner room which is priced at a higher price point should note that it does not have two windows in the corner, unlike the lower priced two window corner room.

I liked the friendliness of the staff. During the day the doormen were very friendly. We requested extra pillows and had them delivered without issue.
I didn’t love that it turned into a club on the weekends. We were returning from dinner and entering the front door and were demanded to see our room key from a large rude doorman.
