Great location, well appointed, my room was comfortable, Floris toiletries, excellent shower, fluffy robes and slippers. Very quiet for Central London too. What’s not to like.
Nothing
Handy
Beautiful interiors
I had a wonderful stay at this beautiful hotel. Great location near Buckingham Palace, shops and restaurants. The staff were all excellent, friendly and welcoming. The bedding in my Superior King room was superb, so very comfortable. I loved the marble in the bathroom. The English Grille was beautifully decorated and breakfast was delicious. And their Afternoon Tea was exquisite! I highly recommend this hotel. My sister was so pleased to celebrate her birthday here and in London. You will definitely enjoy your stay at this charming, elegant hotel.
Firstly I’ll start with the positives. The customer service was fantastic. The staff were very polite and could not do enough for you. I had told the hotel that our stay was to celebrate my fiancés birthday so they had left a hand written note and a cake in the room which was lovely. The breakfast was really good, you could pretty much have anything you wanted and it was cooked fresh. The hotel is situated in a great location with lovely restaurants nearby and it’s a short walk to Victoria station and Buckingham Palace.
The downsides, I had booked a superior king room as this looked more spacious and when we arrived we were told that we had been upgraded however when we saw the room we were so disappointed especially with how much the room cost. The room looked nothing like the photos on the website and it was struggle to walk around the bed due to the end of the bed being so close to the wall and
the TV. I did mention my disappointment to the hotel staff and was given a box of handmade chocolates and a note which was a nice touch. I was also surprised to pay £200 to the hotel on arrival which I was not expecting. I understand the need to leave card details as a deposit but I didn’t expect money to be taken from my account.
If you want to stay in a traditional British hotel with great service, this is for you but I have to say sadly we won’t be coming back.
Staff were accomodating, pleasant , always on hand. Breakfast varied & plentiful. New York Bar, a little dark but always quite busy, ambiance good.
When we arrived we were unhappy with the rooms we were offered. After the 1st. night , we were given a lovely suite, on the 1st.floor. Management went above & beyond to meet our expectations of a 5 star hotel.

Loved staying there. Friendly staff & eager to help with any problems. Room so elegant which had all the amenities you would need. Beautiful breakfast with lovely surroundings.
Everything was lovely.
My family and I had a truly wonderful stay at the Rubens. The location could not be better—it is one of the easiest hotels to find in London, literally facing the Buckingham Palace Mews. The building itself is beautiful, and it looks especially stunning at night.
From the moment we arrived, we felt incredibly welcome. Jan, who greets guests at the door in his traditional red trench coat and top hat, was always there whenever we came and went. It honestly seemed as though he never left his post during our stay! His warm greetings and friendly conversations added such a special touch each day.
Our rooms were luxurious, very comfortable, and well appointed, with excellent facilities and wonderfully responsive air conditioning—very much appreciated after long days exploring London.
Breakfast each morning was a real highlight. Arthur, Geraldine, and Anna looked after us so thoughtfully, helping guide us through the extensive menu and making sure everything was perfect. The pistachio French toast was absolutely delicious—thank you to Anna for the recommendation!
We also enjoyed cocktails at the bar before heading out in the evenings. Sarah was fantastic, offering great advice and recommendations that we really appreciated.
The hotel is also perfectly located, just a short five-minute walk from Victoria and surrounded by countless shops and restaurants.
Every member of staff we encountered was a credit to the hotel. Their warmth, attentiveness, and genuine care made our stay even more memorable. We would happily return and highly recommend the Rubens to anyone visiting London.
Excellent breakfast, staff, management.
Nothing
We were upgraded to a lovely big room - so pretty happy after not such a good start.
Original room small cramped and dark. Not what we were expecting and would not have been worth the high price.
Fantastic location.. you feel like you are in Royal London. Great doorman and greet you and all the staff were wonderful. We had a Royal Room - King George III and it was lovely. Great drinks on offer and a lovely cookie to eat.
Nothing!
