Three and a half, maybe four stars—a good stay with a lot of warmth, held back by a hotel that’s overdue for a refresh.
The location is the big win. The JW Marriott sits right in the middle of everything—nice streets all around, Bourbon Street just around the corner, and a trolley nearby that can take you all over the city. Hard to beat for getting around.
The people are what really make it, though. Everyone was genuinely kind. They gave my daughter a coloring book—and the woman who handed it over was so sweet to the kids—they handed us umbrellas when it started raining, and they made great drinks at the bar. The concierge especially stood out: excellent, friendly, and happy to help with restaurant recommendations.
Where it falls short is the look and feel. The decor reminds me a little of the Cheesecake Factory—the lobby and the whole place just need a remodel. The rooms are medium-sized and fine, the bed’s comfortable, but the water pressure is so-so and everything feels a bit dated. The one real issue: the carpet in our room was smelly, kind of a stinky-feet thing, and could really use a deep shampooing.
You can see why this isn’t the priciest JW Marriott out there, but the kindness of the staff carried it.
An enjoyable stay overall—just bring your expectations down on the decor and up on the hospitality.
Already was absolutely amazing. He was warm, reliable and made me feel safe and taken care of. He's the reason I will come back to the JW Marriott.
The service at the JW was top notch. Everyone is extremely polite, helpful and welcoming. The gentleman that run the front doors are full of life and fun. Unfortunately didn’t catch everyone’s name, but definitely remember Alfred. Also really enjoyed Bruno at front desk. The service at this JW might be the best have ever experienced at any hotel. Nice job!
Louis at the valet was the absolute BEST! He always greeted us with a smile and remembered us when we came back. Anytime we had to pick up our car he made sure we had an ice cold bottle of water and sent us on our way. He was one of the best parts of our stay and I hope we see him the next time we visit!
Bruno at the front desk at JW Marriott is just awesome. Wonderful personality and hospitality is just outstanding. Just awesome hotel with unbelievable service.
Tammy at the bar helped us out big time with adjusting our agenda and giving us great tips! Also super fun and sweet and even served us mimosas before she officially opened
Fantastic hotel with amazing and accommodating staff. Perfect location to go on Canal Street or walk over and hit up Bourbon Street. Room was spacious and well worth the value
I have traveled extensively, but Alfred, one of the bellmen at the JE Marriott is probably one of the BEST bellmen I’ve ever encountered during my travels! He not only goes the extra mile for the guests, but I also witnessed him doing so for other hotel staff during our visit as well. He certainly is a breath of fresh air in a job like a bellmen requires.

Tammy is the best! Even on my check out day she worked with the kitchen to make sure I didn’t starve on my way out of town. I can’t wait to visit NOLA again - definitely with JW Marriott.
