Pros:

Great location, plenty of parking and warm and friendly staff

Cons:

Key card lighting in room meaning if one person leaves they can't take card to get back in. It wasn't worth raising for just one night and they might very well offer another card if you ask

Relaxing stop over
Pros:

The rooms had an air cooler which helped in the heatwave. Having somewhere right at your doorstep for dinner was good. Staff were always helpful and breakfast was ok.

Cons:

We didn’t have the right amount of towels when we arrived. It took us a while to get towels but worked out in the end.

Good enough but room for improvement
Pros:

The breakfast is great & good parking

Cons:

We have stayed here a number of years now & the property is starting to look rather tired & grubby loads of marks all on the walls & in need of a re-paint aircon doesn't seem to do anything & the view out of the window was a strip of grass with rubbish & stuff dumped out on it, could do with providing more extra pillows in the rooms.

Great location and staff … shame about the rest
Pros:

Location worked as close to Donington Park

Cons:

Room was dirty the bathroom had clearly not been cleaned in a while which was evident by the toilet bowl and around the shower, the bed was horrendously hard

Our second stay at Gamston Lock (we come for the Nottingham Open Tennis), and we hope to back again.
Pros:

Great staff, nice, clean room and good bathroom facilities. Breakfast is very good value. We enjoy the hotel block being separate from the pub and restaurant.
