This was our second visit to Gamston Lock to visit the university with my daughter. The hotel is spotless and comfortable and the pub restaurant next door is cosy and welcoming. The staff are lovely and very accommodating, I brought my elderly parents along and the staff were lovely with them and they really enjoyed their time having an evening meal and breakfast at the pub and had a good nights sleep in the hotel. Plenty of parking too.
Nothing
We recently stayed at Gamston Lock and couldn't have been more impressed. From start to finish, the experience was seamless and welcoming.
Accessibility: As I was traveling with my disabled wife, finding the right room is always our top priority. The room provided was perfectly laid out and incredibly easy for her to navigate, which made our stay stress-free.
The Staff: The team here is truly their greatest asset. Every staff member we encountered was remarkably friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. You can tell they genuinely care about their guests.
The Food: To top it all off, the food was really good! We enjoyed every meal we had on-site—great flavors and excellent service.
We highly recommend Gamston Lock to anyone looking for a comfortable, inclusive, and high-quality stay. We will definitely be back!
The only minor issue we encountered was a bit of a technical glitch—the television kept turning itself back on automatically. It was a small fault in an otherwise brilliant stay, but worth a mention for the maintenance team to look into.
Overall, a fantastic experience. We highly recommend Gamston Lock for their comfort and top-tier service!

The location is great. Really quiet, but conveniently situated by the main road. The room was nice and clean. I had the best sleep ever.
The double bed is two beds pushed together, with a San Andreas fault line in between. Very comfortable, though.
Good location for city centre and uni visit (17 minutes drive) and just off A52. Pub next door is really spacious and served delicious food w its range of choice and reasonably priced.
Breakfast on a Saturday isn’t until 8am. We had hoped (along with others) to breakfast at 7am as had to check out by 8:20. We had booked it with breakfast included but never had it in the end. Signs around the hotel and pub were conflicting giving different times.
The breakfast was great and so were the staff. Very friendly and helpful.
Bathroom needs an update
Very comfortable stay as always. Evening meal and breakfast good in really nice pub. Small play area for the children
Good location for visiting our relatives who live in Radcliffe. Comfortable room for a short stay.
Excellent bed, good towels and quality tea and coffee with decent size mugs. We didn’t use the restaurant this time but have used it previously and found the food good value, the staff were pleasant and helpful.
There is a stale water smell in the bathroom .
