Kings Inn San Diego

Kings Inn was truly great. Very clean, great beds( very important), central location .On site restaurant was really good and a plus . Our interactions with staff were very pleasant and helpful.. great staff! Will stay here again .

This place is a gem! Situated right off the main highway, it's incredibly central to all of San Diego's major attractions — a quick 5-10 minute drive in any direction gets you to the San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, Little Italy, Fashion Valley Mall, Balboa Park, and the airport. Yes, you can catch a little highway noise, but the convenience more than makes up for it.

The staff were friendly and accommodating throughout our stay, and the hot tub was a definite highlight — perfect for unwinding after a full day of exploring. The heated pool was tempting, but let's just say my New England blood required something a little warmer!

And whatever you do, do NOT sleep on the Waffle Spot! The food was consistently delicious with surprisingly quick service, plus guests get 10% off — a nice little bonus. We will absolutely be back on our next San Diego trip!

The people at both the hotel and Waffle Stop/Amigo Stop were so nice, friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and well maintained and the food was very good. When we come to visit our son’s family from now on we will be staying at King’s Inn.

Great place to stay in San Diego, very clean, good service, friendly staff. We enjoyed our stay at Kings Inn. The restaurant is very tasty as well and you get 10% off whne showing your room key. I recommend!

This place is a gem! We loved the retro feel and charm. Rooms were very clean and comfy. The Waffle Spot was perfect for breakfast. We will return!

We enjoyed everything about the place. The tub was very good. the fridge was great, and cute. The heat worked well. The bed was too hard. The restaurant was good. It would be useful for the front desk to warn guests that the restaurant closes early some days. We will be back.

Everything was absolutely perfect! And the food at the in house restaurant was also amazing! Will definitely be going back.

Enjoyed our stay. Beds are comfortable, room was clean, staff was delightful, location can't be beat, atmosphere was pleasantly nostalgic. The Waffle Spot provided the best breakfast I have had in a long while. We will be back.
Two things.
1. The parking fee seems excessive for a "motor lodge".
2. The jacuzzi was great aside from the harsh chemicals. Maybe dial it back a tad as the vapor was pretty overwhelming.

I usually travel to San Diego for business and look forward to my stay at Kings Inn. It's conveniently located and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Reasonably-priced, clean rooms and I love the retro theme! Has two restaurants on site with a gym pool and hot tub and I can always find someone at the front desk if I have a question. There were problems with the heat during my stay but the staff were quick to remedy the situation. I would definitely recommend!

Purchased my stay on Black Friday so it was a great deal. If rooms were more affordable throughout the year, I would probably make 2 more trips a year. Del Mar opening day is my main attraction. I always stay at Kings Inn.

We always love our stay at Kings Inn! The location is centralized to everywhere we wanted to go. Our room was clean and housekeeping did a great job! Also, it was a great deal because we booked during Black Friday and we basically got 2 nights for the price of 1! This is always our favorite go-to hotel to stay at whenever we visit San Diego!

The King's is my "go to" property when visiting San Diego. It is always a pleasant, safe, clean and restful stay. Plenty of parking, no issues EVER! And... Great coffee, Pancakes just a 3-minute walk from your room! AWESOME!

We thoroughly read many, many reviews before showing up and agree with the majority. The place feels very clean, front desk is nice and helpful (they did ask us for the credit card that made the booking and how many people in our party, neither of which are bad questions to ask), we enjoyed the housekeeping each day (especially since it’s a little unusual these days). We brought a sound machine because of all the reviews about the road noise and are very grateful we did! The pool and hottub were great and perfect temperatures.
We did encounter a few sketchy people and the second night the guests in the room next door to us were extremely loud, fighting, etc. Maybe that comes with it being one of the cheapest hotels in the area?

All in all, it was a great stay!

Hard to beat this location and its just a super quirky really well run motel style place with a great pool, fantastic parking, and an amazing breakfast spot on site!

Easy access to the 8 and 163, so if you need to go West to Sea World or the 5 to get up to Legoland, its really a good location. That said, you can get stuck in traffic coming from the 5 but its honestly short lived if going west to get back to the hotel, can be a bit if coming from the 805 or 15 heading back West to the hotel. Still, fantastic parking when you do get back!

Rooms are fine for the price and beds were well done. Was amazed at how good the staff were at cleaning the room everyday. Had a near perfect quiet trip with no outside noise, but then again, I was tucked in the back corner in room 266. But never even heard my neighbors if I had any.

The restaurant is so good for breakfast and the front desk staff are great, I love that they have a pretty good selection of snacks and drinks and travel items if you forget, really well placed and easy to pick something out.

Worth a stay if coming out for vacation and you'd like to save a few vs the major chains and still have a great time.

This was the 6 time we stay en Kings Inn. The price it great, the services its great. We would probably stay there a few more times. We love San Diego.

We have stayed at the Kings Inn for years and they are continuing to improve grounds and the property. The restaurant is the biggest plus, great breakfast and dinner spot.

This is definitely a hidden gem! I picked it over one that was rated just a tad higher on Tripadvisor, but had less reviews, after the price dropped to over $90 less than the other hotel. I was so glad we stayed here. Staff was very friendly and the environment was nice. Other reviews have mentioned the highway noise which is there, but being from an urban area, it didn't really bother us excessively. We didn't use the pool or the restaurant as we pretty much only slept here and were out and about most of the trip. I drove by the other hotel I wanted to stay at and was not impressed with the area. This one was close to shopping, restaurants and the like. For the price and location, we definitely would stay here again!

Excellent Motel, definitely a place to bring your family.

A little old for some but well maintained, clean and has a restaurant for breakfast and most evenings.

Super short and convenient drive to all malls and Old Town. Though I give credit to the Amigo Spot, it has EXCELLENT Mexican food. Better than I’ve had in old town.

Some people will appreciate the heated pool and the Amigo Spot having a bar.

Great staff, great property, great amenities. The property is exceptionally well cared for. Beautiful pool and hot tub. Easy access and close to everything we wanted to do. So glad we chose to stay!
